My mom moved to Apple Grove. Everything's OK. What got me is they had a payment option that worked for my situation. It's a double room, but she was a single occupant, but then after about a month she got a roommate. The rooms are fine and clean. They have exercises that they do where they sit in that chair and they raise their arms, they raise their legs, they stand up, and they sit down. They have a courtyard. They have a sitting room where you can overlook the lake.

My mother used to go to Apple Grove. They had activities for her to do. They had a nice and clean facility. They gather people together in different areas to communicate and become friends, like a family type of time. The CNAs and the nurses took care of the people well. They made sure that the facility was clean. The food and the menu were good. They served breakfast, lunch, and dinner. They had a TV room, a theater room, and a meeting area. They had a community room where they had different activities like exercises and Bible studies.

My husband was at Apple Grove during my hospital stay and I found them to be very caring. They took such great care with him and he really enjoyed his visit. I would highly recommend Apple Grove Assisted Living to anyone who wants the best care for their family member. He learned to enjoy all their activities and even a TV room where he could watch is special programs without the others. He was very happy there.

I went to see Apple Grove in Memphis. It was more of a screening to see whether my friend is even appropriate for their program or not. They do deem her as appropriate for their daycare. I like the knowledge of the people with whom I spoke. I don't recall their names but they were courteous and kind. They gave me an overview of the daycare and the cost. They also provided my friend with some printed materials. They talked about the activities available and the weekly schedule. It seemed to be a well-kept facility and the grounds are also well kept. I only went up to the reception area and it was nice, neat, clean, and warm. I was not able to see any activities or any room where they do the activities. Overall, I'm satisfied with the visit.

My mother is at Apple Grove. I would tell the others it's the best thing they could ever do for their parent. They're all wonderful. They have activities, they keep them busy every day, they get them up, they get showers, get dressed, get breakfast, they do activities, exercises, then they do snacks, then they do some more activities, maybe go to the theater room, and then they do lunch. After lunch, they do a few other things. They keep them busy all day long, and then they do a 3:00 snack. They can go out on the patio and stuff if they want if it's nice out, but they have a full staff that watches them, so they're never alone.

My aunt is a resident at Apple Grove and we could not be more pleased with the care she is receiving. The management is always involved and the caregivers are all attentive and seem to genuinely love the residents. The place is beautiful and there is a great courtyard with walking paths. I would highly recommend Apple Grove.

My relative stayed at Apple Grove. Their care was great and the staff was excellent, but she needed more than what they were able to give her. They weren't quite as qualified as where she is now, but I would still highly recommend them. The food was great, as was the facility.

Apple Grove had a nice porch area off the dining area that overlooked a little lake. The people who accommodated me answered all my questions. Everything seemed clean and nice. It had a walking area in the middle, which was a nice outside area that was secure.

My mother was at Apple Grove for a little over a year. She did very well there for the first year, but in the last six to eight months, everyone in administration has been quitting or getting fired. It changed from a home that we were so delighted with to one that my mother was no longer safe or being cared for in; she wasn't being bathed and neither were the other residents. I had been there when 20 people were in a room watching a show, which was very nice, but there was not even one caregiver there. A gentleman in a wheelchair fell over asleep and hit his head on the side door, and no one was there to help him. Myself and two other women ran out looking for someone. They left my mother outside in the sun alone, and she was sunburnt. I had to take her to the hopsital. I would not recommend them at all.

The lady from Apple Grove came out to my house and visited my mom so she could see if she needed to be in assisted living or in the memory care. And she did say my mom would need to be in the memory care where it’s a locked facility. It was a very good diagnosis. The place where she is now is like a big round house. They have a living room, a media room, a wait room, a back porch, there’s ducks and ponies, arts and crafts, they paint, play bingo, sing, bowl, and they do exercises. I can work on my iPad and see what my mom is doing all day long. They keep them engaged all the time. I also have a key to the facility and I can go in and out anytime I want. They have onsite doctors and nurses there. It’s pretty traumatic experience when you have to take someone like your mom somewhere else. If I couldn’t log onto the camera and see what she’s doing all day, I don’t know if I could make it or not. So it’s a big plus, and you know that these people are not doing anything they shouldn’t be doing because there’s camera all over the place.

We visited Apple Grove, and those people were super nice. However, my mother still has her memory, so it was not the right facility for her, but this facility was very nice. Apple Grove was more like a house. They have a very large living room area and just rooms off the hallways. The rooms were small with suite bathrooms. They have a very large patio outside. It is off their great room and off their dining room. It is for people with memory care, so they can go out of the facility, but not the patio area. Sanitation was perfect. It was very nice. No odors. The people were very nice. It is run by a family called Apple family; their daughters are nurses, and the father is the administrator. It couldn't be nicer. They were very accommodating.

Apple Grove was really nice. It was spacious, and I like it. The dining room was real nice, and they had a nice entertainment area. They had a lot of activities for the residents. They have an Alzheimer’s program.

I removed all of Mom’s belongings from room 29 today. It was sad, and hard, because you've been an extension of our family for nearly 4 years. 18 months in the day care program and over 2 years as a resident - we have a lot of wonderful memories in the Apple Grove setting. I cannot say enough good things about your caring and capable staff, and I'd especially like to extend my appreciation to the ones I came to know - they do outstanding work in a difficult field. Andrea is such a standout, providing extremely vigilant and insightful observation, and making excellent suggestions for improving Mom's safety and health. She's a real gem, and I appreciate her individualized attention so much, and I know she watches over all the residents with the same focus. All your nursing staff, including Sherry and Tasha have been very attentive and have also offered suggestions and help whenever I had questions or concerns. Irene supervises an operation that presents many challenges, and I appreciate her attention to detail and her willingness to make corrections when necessary. Care managers Aneesha, LaQuita, and Sheila were always so positive and cheerful and ready to visit a little about Mom's activities and experiences, and they, too, provided her with loving care as I'm sure they do with all their residents. There are others whose names don't come at the moment, but I know that you hire and train only the best, and that your standards and training support their natural nurturing natures. I always felt like they treated Mom like part of their own families, and that's rare in this type of work. All the relatives I've brought to visit, including my brother and sister, my son and his family, and Faith's brother and his wife were all very impressed with your facility and staff, and they all commented on what a superior setting you are providing when the resident can no longer live at home or with family. We appreciate your vision, and your implementation of your mission on a daily basis. Apple Grove is truly one in a million, and I thank you for being a special part of our lives for so long.

I was very pleased with the care my mother received at Apple Grove. Every person who had a hand in her care was compassionate, skilled, and most of all - kind. It is very hard dealing with dementia patients, and much patience is needed. Everyone at Apple Grove was patient, gentle, caring, loving, and tactful. I highly recommend Apple Grove's family of caregivers.

This place was wonderful in the beginning of my grandmother's stay. But then the more older people they got there, the more difficult it was to accommodate everyone living there. They never seem to have enough staff and the employees were definitely not educated enough to take care of people with Alzsheimer. It was definitely scarly when I started to notice conflicts between the residence that were not being handled, residence getting hurt and even the smell of urine in the hallways. I hope the owners have taken care of the problems.
Provider Response
The management and staff of Apple Grove Alzheimer's Residence and Adult Day Care are very concerned about the experience your family member had at our residence. As the foremost assisted living in the Memphis area dedicated to caring for individuals with Alzheimer's we offer a secure environment along with a dedicated staff. Our management and staff are very concerned about cleanliness especially odors. We would very much like to rectify this matter as we strive to offer the best in memory care. Please feel free to email me at kodonnell@applegroveliving.com. Regards, Kim O'Donnell, Community Relations Director
