The tour at Brookdale Sandy Springs was very good. We sat down with the director and spoke with her first, and she gave us a lot of good information, and then she showed us around the facility. We saw several residents, and there were a lot of activities, which we enjoyed. We met the staff of the dining facility, and we saw the rooms and talked about the various activities that would take place. The smaller rooms were kind of small. We saw a larger room, but the expense is kind of a jump to that. They are certainly adequate, though, and clean. My sister and mother went yesterday, and mother said the food was good and that she really enjoyed the dining room, that it was lively. She enjoyed the experience.

Brookdale Sandy Springs was a very nice facility. It's one that we would consider. The price was a little higher than some of the others, but it is a nice setup. The person that we walked with was very good and informative. The apartments were fine. They were getting ready to do breakfast, and they had most of the clients in the media room watching a movie. It looked very clean and there were no overwhelming odors. It was very well maintained. They were still painting floorboards from water damage, and that would be the only reason I would take any points away. I went to the memory care unit.

The rooms that my friends had in Brookdale Sandy Springs were pretty nice. They weren't as big as what we have here, but it was big enough for them. They even offered to give us free lunch. The staff was very nice. The lady said to us right away if we wanted to take a tour, she could, and so she took us on a tour. They have exercise classes, entertainment, and other activities. Everything was clean. The people I knew who lived there were telling me how clean it was. It was great. I was glad that they liked it.

Brookdale Sandy Springs assisted living was a little more luxurious than the other Brookdale I visited in Maryville. We sort of liked that other one a little better because it was not quite as expensive as this one and it was closer to where we wanted my mom to be so we could come over more. It seemed like a bigger community though with all the gardens and everything. It's a very nice place. The staff was very good and were very nice people. The person giving the tour seemed to know the people there by name and talked to them like they were family. The rooms were big and roomy enough, up-to-date, and they're just very nice rooms. The dining area was super nice, big enough, and clean. During the tour, we went through the garden and there was also a little workout room. People were using it and it was very well-kept. The staff who did the tour was very nice and went through everything very thoroughly including the financial stuff.

Brookdale Sandy Springs was very nice. I thought it was very clean, and everybody seemed very cordial and professional. They have an activity room where they play cards, bingo, and stuff like that. All the meals are included in the price, and if you need assistance. They offered food if we wanted any, but we said we didn't.

Brookdale Sandy Springs is beautiful, but they told me that to get my mom in it starts out at $5,200 a month. Even with her Veterans' benefits, we only get up to $3,000 a month, and there are add-ons on top of that for everything, so it's kind of out of our price range. The whole facility and the rooms are beautiful and immaculate. All the people appeared clean and they have activities for people with dementia. The staff was very nice. It was a beautiful and brand-new facility. They just put a brand new wing in for memory care. It looked like the residents were getting excellent care. I didn't see anything that would be a negative there or one thing I could criticize. They have a full time nursing and medical staff. The dining area was beautiful.

I toured the assisted living and the memory care facility at Brookdale Sandy Springs. Everything about it was perfect. There's nothing bad to say about that place except for the price. There was a resident that had a concern and the administrator was very good about listening to her needs, making sure that her needs were met, and that she felt comfortable.

My mom is in the assisted living level of Brookdale Sandy Springs. It's a nice community and she enjoys some of the activities and the people that are living there. She's not happy because they need to employ more help in serving the meals, so it's already cold when delivered to her table, and the beverages are not refilled. It might be a small thing, but if you're paying $4,000+ a month, you would expect to get what you're paying for. So she's actually really disappointed about that so much that she wants me to look for other communities. Her room is modest-sized and she likes it. She has a bedroom, living room, and a bathroom, and a mini-kitchen. My mom is pretty content. The meals are a little bit repetitive, and you can see where they're skimping to save cost, like if you order a salad you get lettuce and tomato. It's not that the chef doesn't make tasty food, it's just that the food is too plain and not extravagant. There's also lower cost-items, like there's a lot of pasta. There are lots of activities. There's bingo, cards, outings, and guests come in to play music, so she's very happy with the activities. When my mom has a request, it takes several weeks to get it addressed. The management staff is nice, but not as effective as they could be. There's also a lot of confusion. For example, say her shower-time is in the mornings and she changes to evenings, there's not good communication from the management to the care staff.

Brookdale Sandy Springs was nice, but I didn’t feel like they were that attentive to their clients. There were several people sitting with nothing to do, and I was only there for 45 minutes. I didn’t feel like there was a good connection between the staff and the people who were living there. My mother is still very responsive to people. It’s a nice facility and I understand that they have a brand-new Alzheimer's area that has opened up. I didn’t have anything against them, but the fit was not right for my mom.

If mom had gone into Brookdale Sandy Springs earlier, it would have been perfect. It was fabulous, but they don’t have the facility for mom. The apartments were fabulous, but mother could not make it there. It is for people who can do a lot more. These people were not in the shape as mom even though she can walk in her walker. She is just past the point of assisted living. If she went into Brookdale, it is just so huge -- and I know there are people with memory problems -- but mother is 93 and she would be lost because it is not a facility for the care she needs. But for others, it would be great. I am ready to move in there myself. The girls at Brookdale were so sweet and helpful.

I was very impressed with Brookdale Sandy Springs. They're in the throes of renovation, but it's so beautiful and the salesperson was just a delight, so I was extremely impressed. They are high on my list right now. The food is excellent. The staff was a delight. The apartment was a little bit smaller than what I had hoped, but they're very clean and nice. They had crafts, gardening, field trips, and visiting entertainment, so I would say they had a full spectrum of activities.

I like Brookdale Sandy Springs, but it was just larger for my mom. The rooms were nice, and I know they have activities and extra services for my mom. I had nothing against them at all.

The people at Sterling House of Maryville were very lovely and very cordial, but my boyfriend's mother couldn't go out the front door. It was kept locked. It felt a little bit more nursing home for her. She had a really nice unit. It was a very lovely place which was well maintained, and it had a center court. They took them out on activities, but the time was very limited.

The rooms at Sterling House of Maryville were too small for what I needed. The staff were fine, and I liked the location of the community.

My mom is in Sterling House and one of the things that I like best is the general feeling of the staff and the residents that are already there. Everything seems to be so positive. Every member of the staff that I run into is very willing to help. They seem to care about the individuals they are working with, which are the residents. They have quite a bit of activities. They have religious services on Sundays, which my mom likes. They have crafts. During this Christmas Season there are choirs coming in. They have a bus service and they have outside activities at least once a week. They also take them to the local mall and to the stores like Walmart and Target. They took a tour of Cage Cove, which is in the mountain here. When we ask my Mom about the food, she said it is delicious.

Sterling House seemed like a nice place. When I visited there, I saw that the residents seemed happy as they were gathered in the dining area. Although the rate was a little higher compared to the others I visited.
