My husband has been at NHC for a week and also the facilities aren't sleek and modern, thus far he has received excellent care. He does like the food, and it is appetizing and nutritious. My views may change as his time is extended, but we are very pleased so far.

My parents are at Nhc Healthcare now. My mother is in skilled care and my father is in memory care. Our experience with it is fair. The communication could be improved. That's the one thing that sticks out. We are not permitted to go inside.

I was a pt for a MVA ,my mother was a cancer patient.we were both treated bad by same nurse(CSR). My mother was there, discharged home but ended up back in hospital fee days after. She wanted to return to Nhc due to the wonderful PT team ( they loved her!) She was denied and we were told this CSR said she "refused care." Blatant lie. Mom was shocked, other staff were shocked! Mom never refused ANY care... In fact she would do things she was too sick to do just to comply. She passed away January. Beware of the spitefulness of this worker. Rip mother

How do you discharge a patient that cannot walk -Without a wheelchair? They've been telling us for weeks, they wanted to be sure my wife had everything she needs. However 1 day before she leaves the social worker tells her go buy,or borrow a wheelchair. Incompetent! Discharge date has been known for weeks. How do you discharge a motor-vehicle accident patient Who can't walk Without a wheelchair? Really?

My Uncle was a resident there for rehabilitation for almost a month. He and I witnessed a lot of neglect for the patients at NHC. Call lights were not being answered in a "state law timely manner" He waited 30 minutes one time due to them "passing out trays." Patients were yelling for help on multiple occasions because they were not answering their call lights. One patient fell out of her chair and was yelling for help because the call light was not being answered. One patient was calling for help, I left his room to find where the cry was coming from, She stated that the "CNA's would come in but would turn right back around and she had to use the restroom." I went and found Nurses on both occasions. My uncle who is a "fall risk" literally started walking to the bathroom without assistance due to not answering his call light. We witnessed them leaving patients in their chairs for 12 hours stuck in the hallway. We all know that can cause sores. The gentleman beside him was constantly being yelled at to feed himself. I waited 35 minutes one time to check my uncle back in from a doctor's appointment because the RN on the floor left. Not ONE of the CNA's knew she left the floor. My Uncle had 3 "accidents" in 2 days due to "them being busy" passing out trays which I find unacceptable! He did have 2 wonderful nurses. 1 a RN and the other CNA I am forever grateful for them. They actually have hearts and care about their patients. The others... well let's just say they are probably there just for the check.

I would not suggest sending ANYONE there. My grandmother is there and has been treated horribly. The food is horrible and some guy named Chris has really made me mad. Just all around a bad place. Please if you have a family member that is supposed to go there, don't send them.

The food is no good. I am sure half of the patients are diabetic and they do not tailor to their needs at all. Half the time what you order for food is not what you get. The staff and CNA's are friendly but they do not come when you call. I have been visiting my grandmother for a few weeks now and have seen the phones ringing and ringing and no one answers the patients calls. I have also heard about two patients falling in their care because no one bothered to answer the buzzer!!! it takes them forever (they seem to be understaffed esp on weekends) The therapy people do not work with them enough! They do not help those that are ready to go home in my opinion. they are not very attentive.

My mother-in-law is in NHC and it's wonderful. It is very clean and it has a very good odor. My mother-in-law is in a wheelchair and can't do any activities, but they had a lot of activities there. There is a good ratio between the nurses and the patients and they really care about the patients. They take very good care of my mother-in-law. It is a very nice nursing home.

My grandfather is a resident at the Saint Mary's NHC Healthcare Center in Knoxville, Tennessee. He has been there for five years now and I usually visit him three or four times a week for about two hours each visit. I am really quite impressed with the service of the assisted living facility. They are very kind to my grandfather and give his medications and food on time always. He suffers from many illnesses, but it in really good care at NHC. The place is always very clean and nice and the staff is very friendly. They have a piano, t.v. and snack area in the lounge area for the elderly people that are there. I have seen other places like NCH, but none were this good. I trust them to care for my grandfather, and I believe that his health is improving a little. Some places that I have seen tie down people to the beds, give food and medications late, keep the place to hot or cold, and fail to help the residents keep proper hygiene. Some assisted living providers let the people soil their clothes and diapers, and they don't care to change them. Others heavily medicate the residents even if there is no need to do so. I am satisfied and happy with the way I have seen NHC take care of my grandfather. I know my grandfather does not have much more time left on this earth, but I honestly believe he is in a place where it will be the most comfortable for him when it is his time to go and pass on to the next life. I think that it is very good that such places like NHC Healthcare exist where people are goodhearted, kind, and professional. When I get old or sick, I believe I would like my family to take me to NHC to live as one of their residents. I know I would be comfortable there.

NHC Knoxville is a smaller facility that needs a lot of improvements in their Knoxville location. There have been problems with several patients having their property go missing. Also there are issues with family members not being notified of changes in their loved one's status. The rooms are not very clean and on more than two occurances dishes from dinner had been left in the patient rooms until breakfast was served the next morning. It seems that the staff are overworked and trying to do their best, but they are always short on nursing staff due to people quitting so often.
