    I am/was a resident of this facility

My wife and I both have been using Life Care Center of Athens for our rehab and 24/7 nursing needs. I have had two knee replacements on my left knee and one on my right. My wife had a hip replacement and we could not be more pleased with the care we have received. I have used the out patient therapy services at Life Care Athens after discharging home. Tremendous place to come for therapy and nursing 24/7 care. Atmosphere at Life Care is Great!

I would like to thank the staff and therapist for all the great care I got while I was recovering from my knee replacement. I would recommend Life Care Center of Athens to anyone seeking in house therapy and skilled nursing care.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

I didn't know what Life Care of Athens was about until my wife was admitted as a short term rehab patient. We couldn't have asked for better occupational and physical therapy team. The staff was amazing from Doctor Bowers the medical director, Nurses and CNA's to housekeeping and activities. The visiting hours were great. We had 10 people in our room for church service. The rooms are very nice and roomy. We didn't feel like we we're stuck in a room. We could go outside and enjoy the landscaping and fresh air any time of day or night. I would rate Life Care Center of Athens a good southern 10.

    I visited this facility

Life Care Center of Athens is a CMS 5 star rated facility and has easy access to all the city has to offer. It is less than a half mile from Starr Regional Medical Center - Athens, They focus on inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation with 24-hour skilled nursing care, Life Care Center of Athens features state-of-the-art equipment, like the Biodex Balance System SD. Their in-house team of therapists and nurses create individualized care plans for each resident and patient taking into consideration their needs and goals. For patients with Alzheimer’s and other dementia-related disorders, the facility features a secured unit to provide a safe and caring environment. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable. The facility is clean and has a pleasant smell. I would recommend this facility to anyone needing short-term rehabilitation or long term care.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

Sometimes I feel as if the staff neglects some of the residents. I don't think they realize that the people that live there would much rather be in their own homes. They aren't there because they want to be. The staff however, has a choice, and therefore should do their job to the best of their ability. They have brought my grandmother cold dinner, not changed her clothes for more than 24 hours. On some occasions when I have walked in I have been hit with a strong smell that I assume is from changing the patients. I wish there was something they did about that. I don't like the fact that some patients just wander around and go into others rooms. I do have to say that most of the nurses are very sweet and attentive. The director of nursing will work with you if you speak to her. They keep the facility clean and well stocked.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

This facility and the staff there have been a blessing in providing care for my 85 year old Mother. The facility itself is clean and very well managed. As a local community resident I have enjoyed the advantage of "surprise" visits which I believe gives us a very clear perspective to the type of care typically being provided. Although this is not a brand new facility, it is well maintained and most importantly to us, it is always clean and most always bustling with resident activities. The staff in general are very knowledgeable and clearly aware of any issues which may be specific to an individual resident. This facility provides a variation of professional staff which includes both RN's and CNA's, as well as on staff Dr's and local MD's who visit their patients regularly and appear to be very well informed as to the resident's ongoing health concerns. We visit often and have often witnessed meal times in which a very impressive menu in provided throughout the facility and the food is prepared much in a "home cooked" manner. In a "long term care" setting, mental status is very important and has been the focus of much of our concern. The staff has always proven to be very compassionate and caring and truly concerned with the happiness and comfort of our Mother and have often gone that extra mile just to assure that she remains comforted and relaxed. They also have been very quick to inform us of any issues involving our Mom and providing solutions to any problems which may arise at any time, day or night. We have experienced nursing homes with inferior levels of care and would like to recommend this facility to anyone who is in need of elder care. All in all, we have been very satisfied with LifeCare Center of Athens Tennessee.
