The staff was always very friendly and really took an interest in my family. My grandmother was very familiar with all of the staff and my grandparents were visiting this facility regularly. It was a very friendly and comfortable environment.

My mother is a resident in Bethel Lutheran Home in Madison, SD. She is cared for by the most caring, compassionate people I have ever met in my life. I thank God every day for them! Every person from the administrator to the nursing staff to the CNA's that do her daily care have nothing but respect for every one of the people in that home. I am continually amazed at the level of their care. At first I felt guilty that I could not take care of my mother on my own, but I soon found out that this is a much better place for her. She has been diagnosed with dementia & no longer knows me when I go to visit but I rest easy that her every need is taken care of.

When he could no longer take care of himself in his own house, my grandfather was placed in the Bethel Lutheran Nursing Home located in Madison, SD. They seemed to have a very caring staff. The facility looked to be well-kempt and maintained in good condition. It was just a one-story facility. Being located in a smaller town I believe the residents received a higher quality of care then they might have in a larger city because everyone knew ea. other. Unfortunately my grandfather was bed-bound by the time he was moved to the home so he was unable to participate in any of the group activities such as games, meals, celebrations. He was able to lie on his bed and look outside watching traffic go by, watching the weather, and at times my daughters and I would drive around to his window and wave to him inside before going in to visit. As in any facility, there was a rather bleak picture while walking the halls. Most residents had the door to their rooms open and it was hard to avoid the temptation of looking in while walking by. There was no sense of privacy at all. My grandfather passed away just a short time after being moved to the nursing home.
