My sister was at Lakes of Litchfield for one year. Overall we had a very good experience. Denise is exceptionally friendly and helpful with move in and move out. My sister's 2 bedroom apartment was spacious and got a lot of sunlight. Community communication is very good, as the general manager gives phone updates about many things. Repairs were performed in a timely manner and the housekeepers were awesome! Drivers were pleasant. The restaurant had several hiccups around staffing during my sister's stay but residents were kept well informed. The food was good however could have been more basic for our particular tastes with more vegetables. Our only problems with this company revolved around money. For our particular situation, it was not sustainable in the long term. When my sister moved out, she did not get back her $2,500 damage deposit although the apartment was in very good condition. No pictures were hung and there was no damage. We left it pretty clean; staff would have had minimal effort to do a deep clean. The contract reads that the company can deduct for "refurbishment costs". I was told verbally after move out that if someone lives there more than 6 months, the individual never gets the damage deposit back. I am a landlord of several properties, and this is not an industry standard. I never charge tenants for normal wear and tear, only for any damage they caused. Management may want to change the wording of their contract so future terminating tenants will not get the rude surprise that we have had, $2,500 out of pocket later.

My husband and I toured the Lakes at Litchfield as we are considering a CCRC community starting with independent living. This beautiful community checked all our boxes! The cottage homes and villas are high end and beautiful, dining room, bistro, grounds, and care free lifestyle with wonderful caring staff make this a wonderful choice.

The Lakes at Litchfield was a nice and clean facility. Everybody there was nice, and they've been working with Medicare to get my father-in-law a hospital bed there. I didn't meet very many staff, but the ones I met were very nice. They encouraged their residents to go and have conversations with each other, play games, and just have social time. They had a gym, a salon, and a pool.

My dad will be moving into The Lakes at Litchfield. They had skilled nursing, assisted living, memory care, and independent living. We needed a place that had all that. It was a beautiful community, and the staff was very, very helpful and very caring. I've been dealing with the person who handles admissions for about a month now. She has come by our house several times. They've gone out of their way to make the experience as easy as possible for us. It was kind of a basic room where my dad would be, but it was pretty spacious, very adequate, and it seemed bigger than some others.

I went to The Lakes at Litchfield and toured the memory care. Everything was nice and the inside was very clean. The staff was also nice. It was just kind of expensive for us.

Everyone was extremely helpful and kind! The food was amazing and the facility was very comfortable! We had every question answered and every follow up phone call returned immediately. My elderly mom absolutely loved The Lakes at Litchfield and so did I!

The Lakes at Litchfield has a few levels, and I saw all of them. It was nice and big. The residents weren't hanging out in the hallways, and they looked happy. The staff was nice, attentive, and genuine. The dining room was nice, clean, and spacious. The grounds were well kept. They have therapy, an indoor pool, and a beauty salon. They have a lot there. It's a big campus.

I toured The Lakes at Litchfield. My dad is moving there in the next couple of months. It was a very pleasant experience, and I saw a nice, very roomy, 2-bedroom apartment. I only met the lady that was touring us, and she was great. The food was very good. We saw the dining room, the outside, and the rooms available.

My wife and I are independent Living residents here at The Lakes at Litchfield. Proper name is Lakes at Litchfield Pawleys Island Senior Living and a Continuum of Care Services. I am posting this because I want to publicly Thank and give Kudos to our Leadership and Staff for one of the many things they do to make this a special place to live, be cared for and enjoy. The family of one of our married couple friends here found it necessary to have the wife move over to on site Memory Care. This of course was very difficult for family and our fellow / friend resident couple. However, the Leadership and Staff have really gone "above and beyond" to help them make the transition / adjustment better than anyone could expect. No detail, as this is a sensitive matter. OTHER COMMENTS ABOUT OUR HOME CAMPUS Apartments are apartments, houses are houses, dining rooms are dining rooms etc but here at The Lakes at Litchfield the most special difference is GREAT CARE, SUPER CARING ATTITUDE AND THE BIG HEARTS AMONG LEADERSHIP, STAFF AND RESIDENTS. Having said "dining rooms are dining rooms" our food quality is Fantastic Residents really care about and for each other here. While the facility is nice and the food outstanding, it is the heartfelt care and caring attitude and action of residents and Lakes Leadership and Staff that makes our Campus so great. TO BE INTENTIONALLY TRITE; Here at the Lakes, we not only "TALK THE TALK" but we "WALK THE WALK"

My parents moved to the Lakes several years ago when my father became ill. During the course of his illness, we had occasion to use the full range of services - independent living, assisted living, and skilled nursing. All were exceptional in terms of professionalism, but what has stood out most is the caring nature of the staff throughout the entire community. My father is no longer with us, but my mother continues to live in her independent cottage. She tells me frequently, "I live alone, but I am not lonely." She feels loved and supported by the entire Lakes community, and we are confident that she is being watched out for while she continues to maintain her independence.

We moved to The Lakes 15 years ago and have been increasingly pleased each year about our decision. Each and every staff member is engaged with us residents, always interested in our well being and satisfaction. Their smiles and attention attest to their sincerity.

My husband and I are very happy at the Lakes at Litchfield. We love our home and have made very special friends here. The entire staff is always friendly and willing to help with any questions or problems, and the activities keep us very busy. I have also taken advantgage of the excellent rehabilitation service following shoulder surgery. We enjoy the dining room and the food is excellent. Special efforts have been made by the staff and the dining service to make quarrantine restrictions during the Covid19 pandemic easier, especially on holidays such as Easter and Mother's Day. I am relieved to be living here and I feel very safe.

We have been living in a cottage in Independent Living for 20 months. It is one of the best decisions we have ever made-- moving to the Lakes. We have made so many wonderful friends and are so appreciative of the caring staff. We are free of having to do house maintenance--it's all taken care for us by a qualified and friendly maintenance staff. There are so many activities to help maintain an active life--exercise classes of all kinds, special entertainment, Happy Hours that are so much fun and delicious food served in a spacious and attractive dining room. There is even a well stocked library to keep us avid readers. There's a book club, bridge and mahjongg groups and lots of craft activities as well as Bingo, Board games and Trivia. We have all types of speakers that keep one informed on various topics--for example, the series on presidents where each month a historian gives us information about a different President. The Lakes makes its residents feel special---it really is a first-class place to live. Mary Lou and Al E

Our cottage which is smaller than our old home (on purpose) is well designed for living. The food is great but the new requirement for delivery can't match our restaurant. The best thing about the Lakes for me is the speed and expertise of the maintenance staff. Call in a problem and often we often have it solved the same day. I'm living in a dream! The staff are uniformly friendly and well trained and our neighbors couldn't be nicer. This was a really good move.

Our Mother is living in one of the independent cottages at the Lakes. The Lakes seem to have a much higher standard of care than most facilities. The staff is phenomenal and very engaging. They know Mom by name and take time to listen to her. if she needs anything, there is a concierge on site to assist. Activities and events are over the moon. Exercise classes are geared to the individual. I am grateful for each person who has a part in “watching” over her.

My husband and I could rave about lakes at litchfield. They were so courteous and helpful to us when my husband had an accident he needed to recover from. The team was there day and night to make sure that he had everything he needed. Good food, respectful staff, top notch rehab center. Thank you for your hospitality!

We're on a waiting list for Lakes at Litchfield. The apartments were beautiful, updated, they offer a lot of activities, and it impressed me. It's all brick, it's very homey as far as the landscaping, it's very well-maintained, and it was recently renovated to have a more coastal look. There are only around 80 patients, and it's more personal. They have a heated pool area and physical therapy. I would go there myself. The menu looks excellent.

The Lakes at Litchfield is quite large, it has apartments, and individual cottages. It's quite nice. I chose them because they seem to have the nicest living quarters among anything I've looked at. I went there and they showed me all through everything and I had lunch. The staff who accommodated me during the tour was very good. The swimming pool impressed me, and it seemed to have a carpet all around it rather than the usual. It seemed softer and quieter. They also have game rooms and exercise equipment.

My friend is at The Lakes At Litchfield. He has been there for a month now. It's very expensive and older but very well run. The staff is extremely competent and friendly. The dining room is like a regular restaurant. They have many facilities for activities and a pool. It's a very large and very nice place. They have a rehab section, assisted living, nursing home, and memory care. If you ever get old and need a place to go, you need to go there.

My parents, who are in their 90s have lived here for two years now. They do independent living in a townhome which is spacious and beautiful. There are also apartments for independent living. If my parents need anything, they just call the concierge. A van will take Mom to the grocery store or appointments. The dining room is available for all meals (except Sundays, then only brunch). The food is delicious with daily specials, and the service is wonderful.. Once, my father needed extra assistance because he fractured his ankle. He was moved into Assisted Living for a couple of months while it healed. Everyone was SO nice. In addition to independent living, The Lakes also has Assisted Living, Nursing Care and Memory Care. The grounds are beautiful. My parents are happy here and my siblings and I are very comfortable knowing they are well taken care of.

At Lakes at Litchfield, the food was excellent. The facilities were very enjoyable. You can buy in or you can rent, but they cover everything. You can have your own car, but they will take you wherever you need to go, e.g., doctor's, enjoyable places like concert and things like that. They have recreational facilities there. They have physical activities and hobbies. You live in a place just as if it was your own, but even if you need a light bulb changed, they will come and do it for you.

Lakes of Litchfield was a very nice community. It was not huge. Everything was very nicely maintained. We were looking at independent living at this point, but the facility had assisted living and skilled nursing. That was one other reason why we looked at it. The model apartments that we saw were very lovely. They were nicely decorated, very freshly painted and very nice. It certainly made a very good impression. We had lunch with the sales man and the young lady from the sales department. They had a very nice dining room. It was bright. The staff was very attentive. The food was very good.

We visited Lakes of Litchfield. It was a nice and a very clean facility, but my mother didn’t like it. For her, she kind of got to a part where everything looked the same. She is really picky, but I can tell that this is a nice facility. It's nice when you drive in. The people there were certainly nice and helpful. They are also very affordable.

Lake at Litchfield was really nice. It had lots of nice accommodations for both assisted living and independent living. It was very fancy. The staff was very helpful. I looked at one of the houses. It was very beautiful. It was very nice. Their dining room looked like a banquet hall. It was really pretty. They had waiters, and the menu of the day was posted. It looked like very comfortable. It was expensive, but it had a lot of accommodations, and I would recommend it. I saw a couple of activities. They were doing an activity at the courtyard. He also showed me the activity board of all the different things that they had. I liked that they were not bored and sitting around. They were able to interact with people, and the community kind of atmosphere was really nice.

I visited The Lakes at Litchfield. It had everything -- independent, assisted, down to medical and to everything. I looked at the independent living and the bungalow. I looked at the dining facilities, and they were great. They had great gym facilities, and they shared an inside swimming pool facility with the next-door exercise and medical facility. They shared a golfing facility because they were a part of a golfing community, and every home had a golf cart. Once you moved in, you do not have to really use your car because every resident had a golf cart. It was a nice community. When I did the visit, I sat down and talked with the representatives. They were friendly and accommodating. It was in an upscale neighborhood. It was a country club type atmosphere because it was a part of the Litchfield Country Club. Everything that I saw seemed good.

My mother was treated like a queen at The Lakes at Litchfield. She was in a private room with TV, telephones, and was nicely furnished. They had a dining room and it was like a formal dining room with seven or eight tables. They also serve to the room if the patient wasn’t well enough, but they always tried to get them to the dining room, so they could socialize. They go shopping, walk around the properties which was very lovely and you could entertain visitors, too. The place is secure and safe.

For ten years we have been residents. It took us only a couple of days to know we had made the right decision. A small community making it possible to know everyone, wonderful and interesting residents. a caring, friendly, capable staff, - what more could we ever have wished for? Last July a fall and fractured hip meant surgery followed some months later by a second surgery. Suddenly there was another plus for us as a couple. One could be in the Skilled Nursing Facility doing therapy and the other had only to jump into a golf cart so as to eat meals together and watch Sunday football! Living in a Continuing Care Facility paid off years before we thought we would ever need it. Now we both are at home once again enjoying the many activities and being back in the dining room enjoying the great food.

I have been a member at The Lakes at Litchfield for almost 2.5 years. I was looking only at The Lakes, honestly. I lived in North Litchfield and wanted to stay in the area. I wanted a place that is friendly. My husband and I had planned to come here. Sadly, my husband passed. I decided to move for a larger sense of community. I really wanted a cottage. My sons helped me make the decision. They looked at it and knew this was perfect for me. I like the Wellness Program and sitting with my friends at dinner. We talk about everything that has gone on in the week. We truly have great meals. I have friends visit from other communities and they always praise the food. I love living in Pawleys Island. We came here to retire from my husband's business. That is one reason that I chose to retire here. I love having a home and property with my cottage. The best part is I do not have to do any work in the house with housekeeping and maintenance and The Lakes maintains the yard. I think the our dining staff is incredibly nice. I am definitely happy with my decision to retire at The Lakes. I wasn't sure at first but I am very happy.

When deciding where I would retire, I knew that I wanted to live in Pawleys Island. My grandparents lived here and I visited them and this place all my life. I knew I knew that I wanted this area. I had a sister-in-law that lived here. She became sick and was transitioned to skilled nursing. I saw that they took good care of her. I wanted to only move once and so I decided to move into a house where I could be as independent and active as I wanted to be. I have become very active in the local community mentoring weekly at an elementary school and volunteering at Baskervill's Food Pantry. I am a member of the activities committee and take part in the wellness program a lot, enjoying water aerobics, Wake Up Workout, and more. There is a very good adult education opportunity through Coastal Carolina University. I have taken a few classes. They also offer a monthly book club. It is nice to not have the house responsibilities. I don't have to worry about the roof or gutters. You can call whenever you have problem. Retirement is a change. Be sure that you are ready for the change. Make the right decision for you. For me, it was easy because I know and love the area.

I came to The Lakes at Litchfield two years ago from Florida to be closer to my son who lives here.I was looking for independent living and something close to my son. The people that live here are incredible and that truly was the deciding factor, even after looking for places in Florida. The people here are very friendly. I visited twice before deciding. At the community, I enjoy the pool and the classes. The Wellness and Social Directors are incredible. You could not ask for better staff. They are so patient and bring so much fun to the community. You really need to come to the community when you are able to enjoy what they offer. I play cards and Mahjong. I like the entertainment that is brought in. We have concerts which are quite amazing. I was ready to come. You live longer here if you get involved in wellness. There is less stress living here. They take care of everything. You do not have to cook, clean, or even change light bulbs. I have made some wonderful friends.

In 2012, I made the decision to move to The Lakes at Litchfield. When searching, I was looking for a place that served my needs and where I could enjoy being with similar people. The continuing care offered at The Lakes helped with the decision. It is a relief that I have the added safety and can be cared for if needed. I like to sing and help out with the monthly birthday/ anniversaries dinner. It is fun to be a part of that. In years past, I have been a member of various choruses and quartets. I attend the Men in Motion class which is in the Wellness Program. It is good exercise. I also enjoy the monthly Men's breakfast and lunch. I would advise people to take a good look at The Lakes. The church I attend is quite close and I sing in their choir. I volunteer with Helping Hands which is a program at The Lakes to help transport members to doctor's appointments and such if the transportation services are booked. Helping Hands is very diverse so everyone is able to help other members. I enjoy being able to help.

I came here in Fall of 2006 . The reason I came was my son lived in Florence which was close. He researched retirement communities in the area and found that The Lakes at Litchfield was the best Continuing Care Retirement Community in the area. I have friends that do not live in a retirement community who struggle with transportation. Here, you do not have that. They provide transportation and the drivers are wonderful and very helpful. If you get caught in a pinch, they will take you. My husband was in Assisted Living when we were married at this community. He moved into my Independent Living house and then sadly got sick again. He was in skilled nursing and went through therapy. I was very happy to have all the services on-site. I have also participated in the occupational therapy when I started to struggle with walking and trouble with opening jars. I liked that he did not have to move to various locations and I could continue to visit him. I like that they have many activities. If you want to be involved , you can be involved up to your eyeballs. If you don't want to be involved you do not have to be. They have many outings. I do Wii Bowling and am active in the Wellness Programs. I am very happy with my decision to come to the Lakes. Anybody that is looking down the road for continuing care, should look here. A lot of people do not think ahead. They are healthy now but do not think about potential healthcare needs.

I came across The Lakes by word of mouth. The people are friendly, knowledgeable and caring. The rooms were very nice and roomy. They have arts and crafts, lots of exercises, and trips out of the facility. We didn’t eat there, but the food looked good. The dining area was very nice. The process was very efficient. It’s a gated community.

I visited Litchfield. The location where it's situated is beautiful. It's an older and smaller facility. It's retirement with assisted living and Alzheimer's. The room was fine but smaller and the food wasn't as good. It was clean. The staff was very nice. They had a lot of activities also.

My husband has been at this facility only since 6-11-2012 and everything has gone so much more smoothly than I ever expected. Of course things do come up but they are always handled in a very timely manner by the staff. They have many varied activities for the residents so they never need be alone any longer than they'd choose to. There are varied menus every day so residents always have a choice. I have personally experienced some very unpleasant episodes with residents but they were always handled quickly and effectively by caring staff members. The Lakes even has a heated pool for the health and enjoyment of residents......what could be better than that?! The staff has a very good relationship with the residents families are are always willing to take the time to answer questions and/or relate their families experiences. The Lakes may cost more than other facilities but well worth the care given.
