My parents lived in Independent apartment for 2 years, and were in Assisted Living and Rehab for short periods. They had a nice quiet, newly remodeled 2-bedroom apartment. The only complaint about facilities was not having their own washer/dryer in the room. The housekeeper, who has been there for many years, looked out for my parents on weekly cleaning days and festively decorated for all holidays. Mom appreciated the spiritual aspects of the community with church services and pastoral care available from the Lutheran Church. We enjoyed the quality and variety of food, often joining my parents for meals, and the chef was especially kind and accommodating as our needs changed. Breakfast is not provided, so some amount of shopping and meal prep must be done. Unfortunately, Mom requested to leave because she no longer felt safe after several episodes of her or dad falling and pressing the call button with staff only responding about 10% of time. Several other residents told me of similar experiences. Mom fractured her neck on her last fall in the night, and after no one came when she pressed the button, she was remarkably able to walk to Assisted Living to call the ambulance. Once after receiving a garbled text from mom and concerned she was having a stroke, I called and asked for someone to check on mom. They told me they had checked on her, and she was fine. I had a bad feeling so showed up 15 minutes later to mom in respiratory failure from pneumonia and unable to breathe or stand, and I had to call the ambulance myself. There is rarely anyone at the front desk either in Independent/Assisted or in Rehab, and frequently phone calls go unanswered, mail deliveries were often lost for days after receipt (large boxes of hospice supplies and an entire bed from Wayfair) and only located when I went in person. The Executive Director had no interest in listening to significant safety concerns (medication errors in Rehab, strangers entering apartment uninvited, call button not being answered) and never once responded to email or phone calls from me, which certainly sets the tone for the rest of the staff. We chose a CCRC with hopes of our parents being able to transition to higher levels of care when needed, but we are disappointed that this is not what happened. It cost many thousands of dollars and much inconvenience and disruption to friend connections and routines to move to another facility, but there really was no choice since mom did not feel safe and they repeatedly let us down. If you do not live close or cannot be regularly present and actively involved in your parent’s care, this is not the place for you.

My parents picked Rice Estate. They are independent but really enjoyed the fact that there is 24/7 nursing staff available. The apartments have high ceilings and are a great value for the space. The dining staff are so helpful and kind! The food was fantastic as well! We have not seen the activities but the calendar was full of things to do. The housekeeping staff really keep all areas clean. There is a wonderful library, activity room and a chapel. Rice Estate is faith based and has services every Sunday. It is more like a home and a family setting than an institution.

My mom stayed at Rice Estate for rehab. When she was there it was clean and everybody was very professional. We were very pleased with her care there. The food was excellent, they have generous portions, and there's a good variety. My mom had physical and occupational therapy there. Her room was spacious.

Mom is in Rice Estate, the appearance is good, and the staff is adequate. She enjoys bingo and music concerts. They go on trips sometimes. Her room is a little small but clean and homey. The personnel need more social skills, and they need to improve the food.

Grossly understaffed with mostly a bunch of nurses-for-hire. My loved one's doctor paid minimal attention to his worsening condition, which sent him to the ER (just in time!) with a seriously backed-up bladder that caused damage to his kidneys.

The rooms at Rice Estate were a little smaller, but it was very nice. They had a nice dining room area. They were remodeling the whole top floor of one of their areas, so we didn't get to see one of their beauty salons. They were bringing the people over from one place to another on their little golf carts. The staff was very helpful. The person who toured us around was helpful. They had a lot of activities, but I did not observe any. They are private pay only and don't take any Medicare or Medicaid or insurance, so if you get in there in their nursing facility and run out of money, you get kicked out.

I wasn't really impressed with Rice Estate, and a lot of it was because they were having problems with their employees. The girl who usually did the tour was on maternity leave, and the girl we worked had only been working there for three weeks. I had many questions, and she didn't have any answers. It's not just a retirement community, but they also had assisted living and nursing home care. I didn't really meet any residents whom I would consider were independent living. The ones I saw were more assisted living, and they weren't really sharp, which I wasn't too impressed with. I also didn’t like that you had to pay a large amount of money as a down payment. They had nice rooms and were a good size, and I liked that they had either a balcony or a patio. They had outdoor space, and I did like that. It was also in a very attractive area, and there were a lot of wetlands around it. It was a pretty place.

Rice Estate is a brand new facility. It seemed nice and clean, and most of the staff seemed nice. The residents looked happy. I would say the rooms were clean.

My mother-in-law is at Rice Estate, and we think it's a really good place. She's doing well. It's very warm and attractive. The staff is engaged, and she's very happy there. She has a bedroom, a bathroom, and a living area with a kitchenette off of it. I think it's a great place. They have a good activity calendar. They have restaurant-style dining. The best thing is the personality of the staff members. Every staff member I've met is really warm and knows the residents well.

We had a short visit at Rice Estate. The place is very nice and clean. The staff seemed to be really nice. They did have a lot of activities, and the place is a little pricey. The residents that we saw seemed to be happy and well cared for.

Great care at this well appointed Residence that emcompasses Independent, Assisted Living, Memory Unit, Advanced Skilled Nursing and Rehab. The wonderful staff treat the residents like they are their own family. The chef encourages residents to share their favorite choices of meals and fixes them for them. She produces wonderful meals on holidays. The residence is set in a lovely wooded setting, plenty of space to go for walks. I am so pleased with their care of my husband in the Memory Unit and I often have delicious meals with him in the main Dining Room. I have made new friends among the residents and always feel happy to arrive there!

Rice Estates Memory Unit is an excellent facility for a loved one. It is a small unit, I believe 14 is their maximum. My husband has been there for 10 days so far and I am very pleased with the care he is getting and the attractiveness of the place.

Please dont take this post wrong, Its not a bad place at all, its actually quite pleasant with a great team of staff and they offer assisted living, nursing home, alzheimers care, short term care and more .However, the pricing for this facility is reasonable if you have medicare BUT they do not take medicaid or have veterans benefits. For private nursing care, your looking at around $6000, For semi-private nursing care $5490, assisted care $5490. They have a state average of 7 issues.
