My mother-in-law was at NHC HealthCare, Parklane and we were very pleased with them. Nurse Dixon was very, very friendly and made us feel that my mother-in-law was in a good place and they were taking good care of her. It was very clean. They were very accommodating to us. They showed a lot of care to their patients. They kept them groomed and looking nice. All of their services were pretty on top of things. They had exemplary customer service. We didn't deal with anyone else but nurses and CNAs. They did have a doctor that would come by and see their patients that I never met. The staff that we did have a little bit of communication with, the ones that brought out their dinners and things like that, were very friendly. The rooms were spacious and very clean, with good closet space for their clothes and shoes. They had gospel singing, and puzzles and they had everyone's nails done. They had a beauty shop, and the beautician was just as nice as she could be. The receptionist was just very friendly.

My mother-in-law is staying in NHC HealthCare Parklane. I have not found one thing to complain about -- all their services are top of the line. The place is very clean, and it is a very safe environment. I have no complaints about the staff; they are very friendly and very efficient. The staff is top of the line, and in just a short while, we have come to know just about every full-time employee there. They have two doctors on staff, and they're there just about every day, I would say. We've seen them on the weekends and at different times. One or the other will be there at least every day, so we think that's a plus.

My mother so far seems to be okay with NHC HealthCare Parklane. She had no real complaints other than the quarantine, but in a few days, she'll be moving in with the general population and will start with actual rehab in the physical therapy rooms. The staff was good. They had a conference call last week with all of the caregivers, the doctors, physical therapist, occupational therapist, nurse, and the social worker. They were pretty engaging as far as any questions we've come with.

I cannot say enough nice things about the physical & occupational therapists at NHC. They worked so well with my mother & went above and beyond to both challenge her and to make her comfortable. My mother, who had been totally sedentary and immobile, started to actually enjoy exercise and moving around! One of the therapy assistants even took the time to massage my mother's swollen legs and feet, which made her feel cared for and really happy. The rest of the staff and the facility itself, however, were a problem. My mother was crammed into half of one small room, which she shared with a roommate, who lived in the other half. The quarters were very tight, which made it difficult to move around. There was not even a chair for a visitor to sit in. Mother complained that the bed was uncomfortable and the food was mediocre at best. Due to the lack of space, the wheelchairs for both her and her roommate had to be stored in the bathroom, and so anytime someone had to "go", it was a major ordeal to move the wheelchairs out, and by then there’d be a mess to clean. The nurses seemed overworked and stressed out, and it showed. LPN, Kim, had a harsh way about her, and the staff in general were slow to respond to call buttons and alerts. The social worker was awful, and the administrative staff was no help, either. We had some family issues and concerns about elder abuse/neglect in the home, and these people were no help in connecting us to the resources we needed. Thank goodness I was able to find, on my own, an ombudsman, who got us connected with adult protective services. Those were the people who helped us and who, ultimately, saved my mother from a truly terrible situation. I would not recommend NHC to anyone, ever. I'm generously giving "one star" in honor of the wonderful therapists; otherwise, NHC would get none.

I've been to The Palmettos of Parklane (NHC Healthcare). It was very spacious and had a very nice dining room and big activity room. The lady who toured me there was very nice and hospitable. Their rooms were more than adequate. It was a very nice facility. They had a calendar of all the different activities they had at different times.

Everything at NHC Healthcare was nice. We liked the facility. The rooms were of decent size, and the cafeteria was nice. We went and talked to the financial person, and the lady gave us a tour of the place. They seemed to know what they were doing. The dining area was nice. They had outside garden, and they had a couple of sun rooms. Activity wise, they had certain activities inside.

Palmetto’s was excellent. The sanitation and the food were fine. It also fits my budget. They had exercise and social trips. But I think they need to give some feedback to the family in a 24hr period and not several days for us to know our status there.

I liked the whole atmosphere at NHC HealthCare. The rooms were very clean and attractive. The staff were very friendly and had very good attitude. I was very impressed with the presentation of the meals and the overall setting of the dining room. The activities calendar was very well presented and very easy to read by a person with difficulty seeing. It was quite secured. I had a relative live there for a while.

Mom moved to The Palmettos two months, and I’m very pleased with it. The surroundings are very nice. She had a private room with a nice bath. She is well taken care of. The food seems to be reasonable, and they have really nice people working there. The activities were nice. She played Bingo and did exercise.

My mother had a terrible experience at this facility. I chose this place for her based on a visit. I was shown the wonderful rehab facilities of the main part of the facility, but not the dementia ward, where she was placed. This is a very, very sad place. They are incredibly understaffed. Patients' needs are extreme and these wonderful staff could not do more than they do, but they simply do not have enough people. My mother went into the place walking well and very agile and strong for her age. In just 2 days she lost 3 pounds (significant if you only weigh 100 lbs) and could barely get out of bed. She was very dehydrated and just curled up in her bed, frightened and alone. Once I got a tech to come see her ( all were busy putting out more immediate fires) she could barely find a pulse and she could barely stand up. I called her doctor to take her out of there, but it was too late in the day to organize a meeting that day. During the night she fell, broke her wrist and cut her chin. I met her at the hospital that morning and took her home. I am glad I brought her home because she didn't look like she would have survived the week. The irony of course is that she was supposed to be receiving more therapy and care than could be offers at home. I'm writing this to warn families to be sure to see the dementia wards in the facilities. They are often much less nice than the fancy front part of the facilities that they show you on the tours.

NHC Healthcare is okay. My dad is so busy during the day. He just doesn't participate with the activities. The food is not great. I guess it depends on what they're serving. But usually it's kind of dry and not very tasty. The room is okay. But the carpets should be cleaned more often. I don't know how often they do, but it does need to be done. I think the biggest thing would be the kindness and responsiveness of the CNAs that work there.

My mom was in NHC Parklane for a rehab for a little over a month. This facility was a lot like a hospital. She was in a room that was spacious but it was just like one big open room where you have the bed and then the sofa. Food was just one meal cooked out for everybody. It wasn't anything like where she eats now at the ILF. Regarding staff, from 1 to 5, I would say they're maybe a 3. All the attendants and nurses were very nice; however, we had some issues with them with getting the right medication for my mom while she was there. The medication they gave her was upsetting her stomach that she was having a diarrhea a lot and it took quite awhile to get her regulated. We really had a bad time with them especially when we're all out of state. They weren't responsive to us and they didn't return phone calls, which is very hard to take when you're so far away. Their staff liked her and they were nice enough, but it was very frustrating to deal with them from afar. Also when we were looking for a place for my mom, we asked them for a copy of her records so that we can evaluate her. We asked and asked but they never sent them. It just wasn't good.

NHC Healthcare is an excellent facility. All the staff that I have met had been very helpful, very nice, friendly, and professional. The environment is very clean, very well presented, and very homelike. We're very pleased. My aunt is in the smallest room that they have, but it's roomy enough that she even got to have extra furniture brought in. She has a very nice full-bath with handicapped shower. The family is treated very well. She's trying to adjust. The last time I called her was Easter, and it was the first time she didn't mention having to go home. So I was very pleased with it.

I took a tour of this facility last year when we were looking for a facility for my grandmother. Overall, I have a positive review of the facility. The facility was very clean. My impression of the staff was positive. The staff seemed friendly and helpful. The rooms were made to accommodate two patients per room. The room was cozy and had a window. The dining area was a nice size. Something that I thought was cool was the physical therapy room. I thought it was nice that the patients could do their physical therapy on site. The grounds of the facility are very clean and well kept. They have a courtyard area that is very pretty and quiet. It looks like a great place to go and relax. Out of all of the facilities we toured, I thought this was one of the best. The price was somewhat reasonable.

I have been in and out of many different assisted living and nursing home facilities over the years, and NHC does about the best job of any that I have seen, regardless of location. NHC Parklane in particular does a stellar job, on both the medical side and with good "bedside manner." The staff is always friendly and they go out of their way to be kind to both patients, family, and outside medical staff (EMTs, doctors, etc.) Their patients always seem to be well treated and happy, and are encouraged to participate in group events. The facility is clean and the food always looks tasty. The dining room is very fancy for a nursing home. The individual rooms are spacious and comfortable, and there are never more than two patients to a room - many single rooms are available as well. I would have no trouble allowing one of my own family members to not only stay at this facility, but any NHC facility in the southeastern United States.

I have been coming to NHC for over 2 years to visit the "Mother" of our church. I visit at different times on different days, therefore I can speak with conviction that this facility truly practices what their mission statement says. I am also a MSW and am aquainted with sub-standard facilities. NHC's rooms are spacious and sunny. The residents are clean and well cared for and there are numerous activities and church services throughout the week. There is an atrium with beautiful flowers and a waterfall and trees which are enclosed within the structure of the building. The staff are professional and sensitive to the needs of the residents and cooperative in keeping the family abreast of any changes in the resident's behavior and healthcare.

When I looked at the overall rating on this nursing home, I found that it had 5 stars and the facility is 95% full. Glad they have that information visible, didnt have to ask for it. They even had their fire surveys and health survey up for view. That means great safety and clean bill of health. I liked it here. Very peaceful place.
