We chose the Discovery Village at Sandhill for the convenience of where it's located and the excellent facility that it is. They downgraded the foodservice, and it's not as good as when I first came. The staff is excellent. They downgraded the menu, took things off, and they stopped serving the hot breakfast. They've got plenty of activities. They have movie night, bingo, and exercise. They have a swimming pool, an exercise class, and Tai-chi.

Discovery Village at Sandhill in Columbia is a beautiful place. When I went for a tour, it was newly built. It happened years ago, but they still call me and keep in touch with me. They send me invitations to come and participate in activities, even though I'm not a resident there. I chose not to live there because it's a little pricey. It's nice that they still invite me to different barbecues and different events that they have. The place is luxurious. They allow my church to use their media room. They have a theater set up, and we were able to watch a movie there. They had popcorn, candy, and drinks. All of that was available to us while we watched the movie for free, so that was really nice. Another time that I was there, we were invited to have lunch there. The food was not hot. I guess it had sat there for a while, and so it was pretty much room temperature. Not everybody likes that. Everything was brand-new like the stainless-steel appliances, ice makers, and microwave. There's a walk-in shower and a place with a washer and dryer hookups. Even though they had a laundry facility on-site, you still had the option of bringing in your own appliances. They offered the same things as the other places, like housekeeping and a salon for hair washing. It was really nice. You definitely get what you're paying for. The staff that was there during my visits were all very friendly and willing to offer us drinks. Even though we had already toured the place the first time, each time I go back they offer to give me another tour just hoping that I would change my mind. It's definitely a place that people should visit.

Discovery Village At Sandhill was beautiful. I was really impressed with them, especially the way they have the units set up. It gives you a sense of protection. So, your loved one is in an independent environment, but there are still dependent establishments present, which I think for a relative, puts your mind at ease. It was the first property that I got to tour, and they had this call button by the front door, which I thought was genius. Each morning, residents have to hit that call button. By a certain time in the day, if they haven't received a response, they will call, and if they don't hear anything, they send someone up. So, I thought that was a really cool feature to have. My tour was late. The guy didn't show up, but the lady who ended up touring us was very nice. She saw us sitting there and immediately went into action and began the tour. She's new to their family, but she was very knowledgeable. She knew her way around, answered our questions, and spoke about things that we hadn't even thought of. I was just sold. Just the environment, the climate, the residents, and everyone seemed happy and were being tended to. It's literally like a vacation resort. It is a transition of life, and in that transition I think it should be comfortable. In there, you get a resort style, a beautiful setup with great activities, and so I was really impressed with it.

Discovery Village At Sandhill is beautiful. It had everything that anyone could want. The apartments are very nice. It's costly, but probably worth what the cost is. The staff is very friendly, we had lunch there, and it was excellent. At the time we were there, there were very few people eating, but it was lovely. The chef talked to us and there were also other people that we talked to. It was a nice atmosphere. It's a new community so everything is beautiful.

We toured Discovery Village At Sandhill. It's interesting, it is self sufficient living only, so there's no place to move up if you have to have more care than that. It's very nice and very expensive. They have a nurse practitioner, I don't know if she's there all the time, but she's there fairly often, so they have that level of reference at least. We spent our time with the sales guy, he's of course quite nice, we had to speak to one or two residents, and one or two staff members, and they're all quite nice. We looked at at least 2 different rooms, they're again quite nice, but quite expensive. It's reasonably isolated so there's not a lot of traffic noise, very close to Sandhill which is of course a major shopping area, the layout I think they're all about the same, big wide places with elevators, so how convenient it is depends on how close you are to an elevator. And we're finding the higher the floor, the lower the price, and the closer to the elevator, the higher the price.

The staff at Discovery Village At Sandhill were extremely friendly, extremely knowledgeable, and really inviting. The place is super luxurious. The only thing, and this is the reason we did not choose it, is that the hallways are very long, and so there is quite a distance between the apartments and getting into the main area. They have a beautiful workout room, a beautiful salon, a state-of-the-art of swimming pool, and a shuttle service to take people to any activities. They have three different restaurants on board in the facility. One is for meals that they can get there during certain hours, and the others are just more like bistros that they can stop in at any time and get anything that they want to eat or drink. They also have a bar service, and it's all included in the rent, which is fabulous. The apartments were absolutely gorgeous. The one-bedroom seemed to be a little small, but that's because I was looking for somebody who was coming from a house. Everything other than the one-bedroom just seems to be a nice size with enough room. I did try their food. They have a chef on staff that prepares meals individually. They have a menu to choose from, so it's really nice. There are just multiple items that they can choose from.

The residence is very nice. But the other amenities need improvement. The administrations are not professional. the food is not good. they make promises on your contract that they don't keep. The facility is poor, with water leaks in the hallway and leaky pipes. The alarm on the water heater goes off and upset me while sleeping. Transportation is not what they said would be and they are not meeting the dietary needs of the clients. They have a good advertisement with a false pretence. The wellness centre is not in operation and no professional medical staff. The activities are very good, thanks to the residence. No Director.

Discovery Village At Sandhill was not a big place. It only had a small population, but it seemed like they had a good business model and they offered a lot of things especially for the veterans. The apartments were very nice and new. It's probably only a little over a year old. The amenities overall were incredible. My mother-in-law's gonna be very happy there. They're also very enthusiastic and helpful. These communities have their own life cycle, and she's getting it at the very beginning, so it's going to be very good.

Discovery Village at Sandhill was really nice. I really liked that. It was gorgeous when you walk in the front door. They had a concierge on-duty 24 hours a day, and they had other people there 24 hours a day. We went up to the second floor and the staff showed me a one-bedroom. It was set up real nice. We went up to the third floor where all the activity was, the pool table, a weight room, a library, and a studio. They had a two-bedroom right down the hall, and that's what I would want if I decided to move there. The staff was all good and very nice. I toured another community, but this one was outstanding. The food was very good.
