I toured Brookdale Harbison. So many things were positive, and only some small things were negative. Of the positive things, they have some lovely spaces for the residents to gather for social and other activities. And I noticed that they have a lot of sunlight coming through their windows. They have a very pretty sunroom, and they have a beautiful central courtyard for residents to be able to enjoy outdoor spaces. In general, when I talked with the marketing person, it seemed that the large management system of Brookdale, along with all the other related homes in that same group, is a plus, because that means that there's more stability financially, and there's more stability for services to be consistent. The staff I met was very pleasant. The marketing person was very effective in communicating about Brookdale. She found out my questions and my concerns, and she specifically addressed those in her description of what Brookdale has to offer, and so she did a great job. She also helped me to meet some of the other staff as we went on the tour, and that was good. The facility itself was nice in that the rooms were reasonably sized, and the hallways were clean, orderly, and fresh looking. But my negatives were that the the decor needs to be updated in the main sitting areas and the hallways. You can just see that it's been a while since they've had a facelift. They could use some fresh paint and improved decor. Even though the central courtyard is beautiful, it was not perfect, you could see that there were things that needed to be done to keep the plants in better shape. And they had a smaller courtyard that was not very impressive at all, so that one needed more work.

My mother moved into Brookdale Harbison. We chose it because they also have in-house rehabilitation. It's a small facility, there are only about 45 residents who would ever be here at one time. It's all on one level. The staff is nice and helpful. They attend to everybody when needed. I've eaten a few meals here and it's good. We're sitting out in a beautiful little courtyard in the middle of it right now. They have 2 different common spaces where activities go on. They have one where they do Zumba classes, and then they've got 2 other courtyards outside of the facility. They have an activities director who takes them out to different restaurants, takes them for a scenic drive about once a week, and just tries to keep everybody going. They've got some Halloween stuff coming up, too. Her apartment has a bedroom, a sitting room, a bath, and a little kitchenette with a microwave and a little refrigerator. They've got about 4 different floor plans. They've got a studio and they've got 2 different sizes for 1-bedroom apartments and then they have a 2-bedroom apartment.

I was very impressed with the staff at Brookdale Harbison and also the facility. They showed me the dining room and the community room, which includes the piano. My friend used to sing when she was younger and she still has a beautiful voice, so she would certainly benefit from that facility. They even showed me the room that she'd be in. It's like a little apartment. It has a living area and it has a microwave and a small refrigerator. There's a bathroom and the bedroom. They take care of the housekeeping and they assist with whatever you need, meds or bathing or anything like that; they provide that. I was very impressed with the entire facility and everyone seemed to be happy. One thing that impressed me greatly was everyone wore a smile. From the time I walked in to the time I left, everybody was happy. I met the recreation person, the person that administers the meds, and the lady that runs the dining room, and they've all been there a long time, so that says a lot for the facility. They allow you to bring your own furniture, things that you're familiar with, and having your things there makes it more your home. They have courtyards where the folks can go out and sit with rocking chairs, and they have a library area also. It's a small facility, but it's very nice and well kept. It's older, but it's still very, very good.

Brookdale Harbison was a clean environment. They were well-staffed and the facilities were very nice and looked comfortable. I met all the staff and they were very friendly. They got everything that I was looking for (including the care that my mother needs). They have a hair salon, regular doctor visits, a nice courtyard and garden where she can go out and sit, and a lot of activities that they can get into.

My friend is in Brookdale Harbison. I visited her about a month ago. Everything looked good. It felt very comfortable, and I was very pleased. My friend seemed to be happy. The people around there seem to be very pleased. It was a little apartment that my friend had. We sat in the living room, and I could see a little tiny kitchen and a separate bedroom. The staff members were nice.

Brookdale Harbison was very nice. The person during the tour was very patient with answering our questions and concerns. The dining area was very nice. The food looked and smelled delicious, and the servings were an appropriate size. They were doing an exercise class when I visited.

Brookdale Harbison's apartments are much smaller for people who are just looking for independent living. They didn't have anything but a 1-bedroom and they were talking about putting Mom and Dad in a 1-bedroom but that wouldn't work. The staff is friendly, helpful, enthusiastic, and really great. It seems like they had everything you could want. I met a couple of people and they really liked it there. I was surprised that it looked like it was almost brand new and then they told me how long it has been there. It's been kept up really well.

Brookdale Harbison was beautiful and located near the Harbison Forest. There were nice walking trails that went all through the community. The place itself was very clean, modern, and friendly. I felt that it was very comfortable, and the furniture was fairly new. They had nice sitting areas everywhere. Even though the room was small, there were plenty of places you could go and gather with friends and family. They had a nice dining room. To me, the place was very peaceful.

Brookdale is outstanding and everything was upscale. It’s smaller, so you don’t have to worry about there being too many people, and wondering about the care. All the people that works there is very polite. They would say hello and “how are you today?” It looks clean. The rooms are of nice size, and everybody seemed to be happy. They were willing to work with us, and I like everything about them. The food is outstanding.

Brookdale was very nice but had a waiting list. My aunt was a resident there. The staff and caregivers were always friendly and attentive. They had activities. I liked the security of the building because you had to buzz in.

I visited Brookdale Harbison. It was a really nice facility, but it did not accommodate some of the things that I needed for my mother. The staff was very nice. The room was also very nice with a nice view out of the window. The amenities were nice.

My visit at Sterling House of Harbison was very good. The facility is very nice and their rooms are of adequate sizes. They have nice people. They do activities outside the facility like they go on outings or field trips. There weren't any openings at that moment, but I would recommend that place from what I saw.

Sterling House of Harbison was closed to our house which was the reason why I liked it for my husband. But the place was a bit dark and they didn't seem to have many men in the population.
