My mother was in the Benton House of West Ashley, and she was there for two and a half years. It's excellent on all levels. From a business model perspective, they know what they're doing, and they do a good job. It was a very positive, social, and caring experience for my mom. She thrived there. It made my life a lot easier. The activities director there and my mom became really good friends because she engaged my mom daily, really the activity director makes or breaks a facility. Memory care patients need to be engaged. The food was good, I saw the food she ate often. It was very above par. The facility was beautiful, they took really good care of it and it was brand new.

My mother has been at Benton House of West Ashley for two years now. She handles all her own medicine and she does everything herself. They clean and all, but she does everything else. Overall, it's been fairly good. The Covid virus has been difficult because it's kept them locked down. Before that, they did a lot more and they had a very good program. The food is so-so. Overall, I'm pleased, and I don't have to worry about her. She lived alone until she was 95 and that was a lot of stress on our family. She's got a small sitting area and a small kitchen. The bedroom is separate. It has a large closet and a large bathroom. At first, she wasn't happy. She didn't have enough room because she had gone from her home to there. They have studios, which is just one room with a small kitchen area and a bathroom. They have 1-bedrooms that have screened porches. Hers is considered a 1-bedroom and she faces the courtyard. Everybody has a window. Before Covid, they took them to their doctors' appointments. They had joyrides while seeing different parts of the area and they had events where they celebrated Mardi Gras or New Year's. Every month, there was a big event and a nice meal. They also had people come in and play music just for them to sing-along with. They had activities like movies and bingo, but most of that couldn't be done due to COVID measures. They're just starting to get back into it. It's assisted living, but they have levels of assistance and hers is the lowest level of assistance. I feel like it's a fair price.

My dad is in Benton House of West Ashley. His accommodation is roomy, he's got enough space for himself, and the bathroom is wonderful. The staff is very patient-oriented. They have many services and activities, though right now they're kinda limited because of the COVID, but I like the activities provided. If you're looking for a place for a parent or a loved one, I highly recommend them. Their location is great in West Ashley. It's within a close distance to Wal-Mart, grocery stores and pharmacies. They have a wonderful front porch with rocking chairs, and they also have a courtyard.

I visited Benton House of West Ashley. It was a good, clean, well-lit, and brand-new place. The dining area looked beautiful, and the staff was excellent.
