I visited this facility

My mom has signed a contract with The Legacy of Anderson. The people there were very nice and very professional. She got to meet a lot of neighbors, and she's very happy with them. They do everything there very nicely. The place looks like a hotel building. It's very appropriate for someone like her. It's clean and well-maintained. We met the maintenance guy, and he was great. We were just pleased with what we saw. The staff member who gave the tour was terrific, and my mom seemed to be pretty happy with the food service people.

Provider Response

I visited this facility

I toured The Legacy of Anderson. I liked it the best. They were just lovely, especially the sales manager. She put herself out in helping me tour the facility. The appointment was for lunch, and they gave me lunch. I ate everything they had, and the food was very good. I also met the chef. It was all really lovely. I was introduced to a lot of residents by this sales manager, too. The community layout was very lovely. They have trips going to different places. There were a bunch of people who had just come back from some kind of safari that they went on in the earlier part of the day, and that sounded like fun. There was a bus that took them there and took them back. I was shown game rooms, a movie room, a playing card room, and a church. The activities sounded like a lot of fun, and so I liked what they had planned. The only thing I found lacking was that there were no stoves in the kitchens. I would have to eat only through my microwave or air fryer, and I wouldn't be able to fry eggs on the stove or any of that, so I felt that that was a detriment, although the room seemed to be lovely.

Provider Response

Thank you, Janice, for sharing your thoughts on your visit to The Legacy of Anderson. We're delighted to hear that you enjoyed your tour and found our community and team, especially our sales manager, to be so warm and welcoming. It’s great to know you enjoyed your lunch and appreciated meeting our chef and many of the residents. We are honored that we are at the top of your list for independent living communities in the Anderson area and hope to welcome you back soon!

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My dad and his wife have been at The Legacy of Anderson for a few months now. It's been OK, except for when it got cold last week. They lost water over there, which we weren't happy about. Their elevator went out, and they're on the second floor. They had to call down every time somebody would go up or down. Somebody had to be there to run the elevator manually. The food is not very good either. The staff is nice. The room is acceptable. It is clean and everything. It is a 2-bedroom, 2-bath apartment. They don't have a stove in there. They just have a microwave and a small refrigerator because the meals are provided for them. They have a game room that they play games in. They have a movie room, and they have other activities. They have a library and an exercise room. I would rate the facility a three because of the length of time that it took them to repair the elevator.

Provider Response

Mark, thanks for sharing your thoughts on your experiences at The Legacy these last few months. I am the Executive Director and am glad to see your dad and his wife enjoy their apartment and are active in our many programs. We are happy to note that the elevator issue was resolved a few weeks ago -- and while we know this was an inconvenience for residents, our team worked hard to mitigate the impacts on residents during the necessary repairs. I would welcome the chance to sit down with you and them to get their feedback on our menus. Please give me a call or ask your dad to swing by my office. Regards, Mandy.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My father is at The Legacy of Anderson. We've chosen the place because he needed to stay in his own community, his church community, his church family, and his neighbors, and he can maintain everything that he's able to in South Carolina versus trying to transition all of his records to North Carolina. The staff is phenomenal. The place is beautiful and clean. There are a lot of activities there. One of the things that we looked for was whether the residents were smiling or whether they were happy, and everyone we saw greeted us. I did not see one resident there that looked like they were mad. They just looked very happy there. The amenities are phenomenal. My father participated in a sing-along on the tour and my sister is trying to get him involved in some of the things like bingo. He's only been there a little bit over a week, so we're just trying to get him used to the place. He's had a couple of people there who have come check on him to make sure he's OK. There's so much to do there. There's a gym, a fitness center, a hairdresser, speech, occupational, and physical therapy practice onsite, a movie theater, a library, and a covered screened-in porch on either end of each of the floors, so they can go and sit there on a screened-in covered deck. There are a lot of other things that we've been discovering a little bit at a time as far as the amenities are concerned. It's one of those places that if I have to go somewhere to live, I wouldn't hesitate going there because there's just so much and it's very convenient and easy to get to, right off of the main interstate. It's the best that we got out of everyone that we've talked to. Other places are just so extremely expensive and I thought that The Legacy was closer to what we needed. We wanted a studio, which is a little bit less, but a studio was not available, so we opted for a one-bedroom. I would highly recommend anyone who's considering independent living to take a look at The Legacy.

My parents are in The Legacy of Anderson. It was clean and well-kept. We didn't see much staffing, but the one we've seen was very helpful in getting us around in there. They have a gym now, a workout area, a movie theater, and a library. They have arts and crafts, and games.

I visited this facility

I had toured The Legacy of Anderson. I was most impressed with them. They seem to be more attuned to what people needs. I just liked it. It's friendly, clean and nice. It seems very much like a home place; the other places seem commercialized. The staff was the important part of the tour that I had. The staff was very informative. The guests seemed so happy there. They have a cocktail hour, and they have different games and lots of activities. I only saw one room that was taken, it was a one-bedroom, and it was very nice and comfortable.

You automatically have friends who are like relatives when you move into the Legacy! The residents are a caring group of individuals who welcomed my mom when she moved there and she absolutely loved the friendships she made. The staff is equally kind and friendly and always seeking ways to entertain their residents, maintain their safety and developing relationships. Her days spent at the Legacy are some of her happiest times. I only wished she had lived longer to enjoy the active lifestyle and the lasting friendships that the Legacy provided.

I visited this facility

I looked at The Legacy of Anderson. It's a little more expensive and I just didn't care for it. It was a little too hotel like for me. You go from the elevator and it had hallways. It looks exactly like you were in a hotel. You open the door and there's your apartment. You can open the windows when the weather is good. It would be lovely after they fix it all and everything, but it was like anywhere from $200 to $400 a month more than the other place. Everything else was fine. It was just like a lot of other facilities. It's beautiful.

The Legacy of Anderson was nice for one thing, and they have individual apartments. They also have a place where you could all meet, and it was pretty nice. They have different concerts and different activities. The staff was very informative, they told me what they had, they showed me around the place, and I liked it.

I placed my dad at The Legacy of Anderson. I like that the place was nice and clean. They have a handicapped bathroom in their independent living, which I have not found in any other places. The shower is big enough to get a wheelchair in. They're very accommodating. We needed some more safety bars put up, and they did not charge us for it. The price was also right. They provide three meals a day, and the food is good. Dad has been very pleased with it so far.

I visited this facility

The Legacy of Anderson Community was a lot less expensive, and it was really nice. It was so nice that I put a deposit down on a unit for my mom. The people were really nice, and one good thing about the place is that they allow smoking, but they have them segregated in screened-in porches on both ends of the building which is a good thing because smokers and non-smokers will be happy living there. I thought it would be a good facility for my mom.

The tour at Legacy was good. We liked the ambience, and the environment seemed comfortable. The rooms were comparable to the others -- all of the same size, tiny -- and that’s going to major problem for us. The staff was good, and the residents were OK.

I visited this facility

We looked at The Legacy of Anderson, which is a very nice place, but it’s not continuing care, only independent living. The only problem with that is that they don’t take you outside Anderson for your medical doctors. The place reminded us more of a hotel. The staff who accommodated us was very nice and showed us several rooms that were of a pretty good size.

I am/was a resident of this facility

I live at The Legacy of Anderson Senior Living, and everything is fine. We have two rooms -- a bedroom, a living room, and a bathroom. We are doing fine here. They do all kinds of activities, but I don’t participate in them. I would recommend this place to anyone who wanted to gp to a home.

Very pleased with the service my mother receives from the Legacy. As nice as the service is the staff is even better! They take the time to know the residents well.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

My sister-in-law is in The Legacy. It’s a wonderful, beautiful place almost out in the country, not by itself but not crowded with a lot of buildings. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. They have a lot of amenities in the facility itself. They take people to doctor’s appointments, and they take them to town. It’s just a really nice environment. It is extremely clean, and she has maid service once a week. She has a one-bedroom apartment with a full bath and a shower. They have card games, puzzles, dance classes, and they have people who come in and provide entertainment for the residents of the community. They provide three meals a day, and the food is very good. It looks like a five-star hotel when you walk into the building.

I am staying at Legacy. I chose it because it is a pleasant and pretty place. It has nice people, and I like everything about it. It is also close to my son. The food is adequate. We have a lot of choices, and we have an open seating. You can pull up anything at any time of day. If you don't want to come down for breakfast, you can order something later. They have movies and games all the time. We also have arts and crafts.
