I went to Smithfield Woods. A lot of what I had seen in the facility had all been renovated. The rooms had all been renovated, it was super clean, it was in a residential neighborhood, so it was quiet. Everything looked very clean. The person I met who gave me the tour was very nice and very informative.

My mom has been at Smithfield Woods for two years now. She was at the assisted living side first, and then she moved to the memory care unit. The facility is very nice and clean. The facility is very helpful for people that have dementia. They are very suitable and they have a lot of activities for the residents during the day to keep them busy. The nurses and the staff there are very polite. The food is OK, it's average food. Mom's room is very nice, clean, and very homey. They make her feel like it's her own personal room. She can do anything she wants in her room. And it's also suitable for people who have a hard time walking. They have special showers for handicapped people. They have handicap rails throughout the memory care unit. They have trivia games, and a physical therapist that goes into the room to do exercising, and also a room where everybody can exercise. They have movie activities wherein they'll watch a movie. And then after the movie, they will ask them questions about the movie. Mom has only been in the memory care unit for 2 weeks. So, it hasn't been that long for me to evaluate them further at this time.

I toured Smithfield Woods Senior Living. They looked like they were in the middle of a renovation and redoing something. One of the things that I looked at were the bathrooms in the apartments or rooms. It looks like they've chopped out the tub part of it, and then used the existing tub into a walk-in. It looked like they had done a pretty big shortcut. I wasn't blown away by that place. It was very clean, and the staff was very nice. It looked like in the assisted living part of that they would be separated on their own. The apartment was very clean and newly done, but I felt that my mom would spend a lot of time by herself in her own apartment. I didn't get the feeling that it was a community. They had a salon and amenities that are similar than others.

Smithfield Woods Senior Living was in a nice setting. It's in a wooded area with a pond. When we stepped inside, it definitely had more of a feeling of a long term care type of place because of how it's built. Although my mom would be able to come and go as she pleased, it still had that look. They had a little social hour, and my mom had some appetizers. She said it was fine. The gentleman who toured me around was very nice. His demeanor was calm, and he was cognizant of speaking directly to my mom. He was speaking to her as if she's going to be the resident there. It wasn't like he was just talking to me and pretending that she wasn't around. He was respectful.

Smithfield Woods Senior Living was a beautiful facility. That staff was very kind, and the hard part for us was the price was not what we were looking for, but they were friendly. It had nice facilities and lots of options. There was laundry and a gym, and it was clean.

Most of the staff at Smithfield Woods Senior Living seemed like they've been there for quite a few years. They had a chapel that was inside of the building that the residents could go to, which was very nice and was a plus for me. They have vans that they drive people in and they have a movie room. It was an older building but it was under construction. They were changing one of the wings to make it all just memory care. The one thing I like about it is that it's one floor for memory care. The other ones I've been to, they had to go to another floor for meals and I found that kind of hard for my mother to manage because she would be too confused. I didn't see too many of the staff, I don't know whether I went during an odd time or they were all busy. The ones I did meet were very pleasant. The one who did the tour was very nice, she answered all my questions, she wasn't pushy, and she got back to me if I had questions like she would email me back or call me. The place just needs updating a little like on certain areas of it.

I visited Smithfield Woods Senior Living. Two people came down and tested positive with Covid and on the morning of the move, they called me and told me not to come up. The people that I spoke with seemed very cordial. They come down to interview the person before they accept them, but they could not get their iPad to work, so they came and talked to my mother. I only saw the room and the offices. The room setup was very nice. It was a fairly wide studio that's over 450 sq ft. It had a nice small refrigerator and a microwave. It was nicely laid out because big people like me would be able to walk around nicely. For a studio, it was pretty nice sized. There must have been 30-40 different activities like painting flowers, gardening, and all kinds of stuff. I also liked that when I walked in there, it seemed very clean. They have a special for the first year, pricewise. For the amount of the money and the size of the room, I think it is a very good deal. The people I've met with have been very cordial, friendly, and willing to help.

We absolutely love Smithfield Woods Senior Living. This place is God sent. The care is phenomenal. When I showed up today, my mother-in-law said, "What are you doing here? I'm here with my friend." We're pleased with it. The day is packed full of activities. They were having a car show for the residents. She loves the food there. We ate lunch prior to her moving in, and it was amazing. We would have ordered it at a restaurant and gone back again. She hasn't been bored.

My brother has been in Smithfield Woods Senior Living for a couple of weeks now, and so far it's been pretty good. His apartment is very nice and bigger than some of the other ones we looked at. They have cable TV, and it's pretty much all-inclusive. The food is good, and the staff seems fine. They could use a little bit of a checklist when they're checking in, so that everybody's on the same page as to what the procedures are.

It was very nice, and it would have been adequate. The staff was very nice. I just walked in and said, "Hi, I am shopping for assisted living for my wife who has Alzheimer's," and they were just fine with that. They took me through the whole thing, explained everything, introduced me to their nurse managers, and we sat and had a nice chat. Security appeared OK. Everything was either keyed or had a keypad.

I found it and that's where I put my mother. I chose it because they take Medicare, Medicaid mainly, and they have a memory care unit. The staff was excellent. They were very friendly. They have different sizes of rooms. They have studios, and they have ones that more than one person live in. They have lots of activities. They have day trips, arts and crafts. They have entertainment come in. My mother says she is very busy. I just feel secure knowing that she is being taking care of. She could finally say the other day that she loves it there.
