Heberts is a small nursing home in the middle of the woods near the lake. It houses around 150 residents with a lot of veterans. They have activities for the elderly, day trips, and a beauty parlor for both men and women. The staff is always very accommodating, and the people are very friendly. They come in and check on my grandfather every day; all of them are very positive. They had a little outdoor area for the patients to go on a walk outside for fresh air. His room is a shared room. The food is very good and the place is very clean. It's very nice and small enough where you don't get overwhelmed with how many people are there.

My daughter a resident of this establishment passed away on Feb. 4, 2023. This nursing home like most nursing homes give the minimum amount of attention to residents. Their favorite reason for bad service is “we are short staffed”! Prior to our daughters passing, she had fallen out of her bed early in the morning and was not sent to the hospital until after 4pm that afternoon and only on the insistence of my granddaughter. She had fractured her hip, mind you my daughter was paralyzed on her left side due to two strokes she had ten years ago. When you call this nursing home and ask to speak to a department head, you are sent to their voice mail to leave a message and they will return your call. That never happens. I could go on and on about nursing homes and their lack of compassion but it makes me sick! My advice is to do your best to stay out of nursing homes and to keep your loved ones out also...I guess we have to get a lawyer!

This nursing home does not furnish telephones and very little help with cell phones. It does not matter how close it is to your home, when your loved one cannot talk with family and friends and you cannot check on their condition. We have no idea how long this pandemic will last! My sister was unable to walk to a nurses station to call out, so I ordered a cell phone she could hear on, but she was not tech savvy enough to use it, and Heberts does little to assist. Since she could call out on the phone, she talked to me on a Friday evening to thank me for a gift, and in the conversation said the nurse she had that night had no idea what she could or could not do for herself. I believe that was true, but did not respond other than with encouragement. That was the last real conversation I ever had with her. My sister could not clear the messages on the phone, so no one could reach her when they called in. Shortly thereafter, I was informed she went into a rapid decline and could not feed herself or even hold a phone. One day after she had been moved and very upset the Social Director put her on a phone she could barley hear on, and left the room. My sister who had just been informed she would be there permanently was so upset, I had no choice but to hang up and left to wonder why I was not informed of her condition and that it was not a good time for conversation. Two new cell phones were furnished during her short time at Heberts which included three or four moves to different rooms (most upsetting to seniors). No visitors allowed, no hospice allowed, patients confined to their rooms, no response to my requests that they look for the phone I furnished, so I have to conclude it was stolen. I do not look lightly upon that, though not uncommon it could be stopped if not accepted. My sister died without family or hospice present (or even a visit by their Chaplin) because the nursing home would not let them come in even though my sister was not in a COVID section. Hospice was only allowed to assist the staff on Zoom. Her children were permitted to see her on Friday before she died the following Wednesday and I am grateful she lived long enough to see them. I believe my giving Christian sister deserved better! I am no stranger to Nursing Homes, and would avoid this one. I am so grateful the Lord has taken her to Him, and she will spend no more nights grieving nights in a nursing home. He answers our prayers

My father is a patient there. His nurses and CNAs are very good with him . The administration and billing staff are all about money and are dishonest. They lack empathy & do not have the patients best interest at heart. i would transfer him else where if I didn't feel it would do him more harm do to his illness then good at this point. Please visit unexpected especially in weekends. I would also encourage you to ask the patients how they feel about the facility.

Mom had gone into Hebert's Nursing Home for rehab after her fall. They did a great job with her. They're very caring, very activity-oriented, and the rooms are very good size. However, they could maybe regulate nurses instead of having temps all the time.
