My mom moved to Wellsboro Shared Home. It is an older home, but it's a nice and well-kept place with nice folks. They have activities such as bingo and decorating activities in the dining room. They also have laundry services and if you need to go to the hospital or pharmacy, they have a driver for you.

About Wellsboro Shared Home Inc in Wellsboro, Pennsylvania
Welcome to Wellsboro Shared Home Inc! Providing a home for independent, ambulatory, older persons was a vision of Dr. Ardell Thomas, M.D. In 1979 he shared his dream with Pastor Richard T. Purchase. Beyond providing room and board, the home envisioned was to provide it's "family members" with caring and companionship in a distinctively christian environment.
During the planning stages a gracious victorian home became available. The combined efforts of the founders and many members of Pastor Purchase's congregation created the non-profit corporation now known as the Wellsboro Shared Home. The home continues to be a mission of the First Baptist Church in Wellsboro, Pennsylvania.
The Shared Home provides an opportunity for seniors to live copperatively without the worry of shoveling show, food shopping or other household chores. A competent staff is always on hand to meet the basic needs of residents.
The close proximity to many area churches and other local attractions ensures spiritual, social, and cultural activities for the residents. Our residents are free to sign out for outings or family vacations. Access to transportation allows voluntary, home-sponsored excursions to local attractions. Residents are also offered regular activies scheduled at home including bible study, church services, bingo, and special crafts. Of course, visits by friends, family and community groups are always welcome and encouraged.

Wellsboro Shared Homes' fees are less than in the other places, yet the care is as good in any place. It is not staffed as well, but the staff really takes good care of them. The dietary department is where it probably it needs some upgrade because I don't think the food is nutritious. My mother-in-law just got too old to stay here. You have to be ambulatory to stay. After she got back from the hospital, between the hospital, doctor, and the shared home, they didn't accept her back because they were not equipped to take care of her anymore. They have some really wonderful people.
Thankful info

My Mother is and has been a resident at Wellsboro Shared Home for years, quite possibly the eldest resident. She is quite content, and has been fortunate to have her own private room. She is very set in her own ways, and a very private individual, so she is quite happy. There are some issues with the meals. There are foods served with little to no flavor. Also some are difficult to chew and inappropriate for elderly people. Maybe a change in menus items occasionally? Overall, she and her family are very thankful for the staff and they're assistance when needed. The Administration is very informative and professional.

My grandmother had surgery on her hip and stayed here for a few weeks. I only visited once or twice, but when I did, it was kind of boring. No nurses came in when my family and I were there, probably out of respect to my grandmother. She said the meals she was served were big on variety and health, but low on taste. The vegetarian pizza in particular tasted like cardboard. She was adequately cared for, but nothing more than the bare minimum. She bathed herself in her own bed, and had to ask multiple times for her catheter to be changed. I'm sure it would be a nice experience if the nurses were more friendly and caring. This was during the summer, so maybe they were just in a bad mood because of the awful heat wave, but that is still no excuse to treat your residents like numbers.
