I am/was a resident of this facility

I am currently in Titusville Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, and the only thing that I do like here is the rehab, the rest of it is all downhill. The food's not good and the rooms are real small. The aides and some of the nurses are all nice, but there's a couple who aren't. I told one lady that I did not want compression on my foot, because their wrap was too tight, and that I had no circulation, but when I told her about it she just walked away. The recreation is very limited too. They do bingo, but there's only four or five people. I've got my own bed but there's hardly any room for the clothes. Some days the foods isn't too bad, but most of it is not good. They overcooked the vegetables and they said their meat was turkey; I don't know where it comes from, but it's not turkey, it tastes like sponge rubber. Through the winter, the furnace didn't work all the time. It was so cold that I had a lot of blankets on me. They don't have enough staff and the staff that they have are run ragged. When somebody messes or so, they should be showered, but here there's a rule of only two baths a week. They only got one maintenance guy for the whole building too. They need to up their standards. It needs to be resurfaced, like the walls all need to be painted, and they need to make the closet bigger. I just don't know how they do it in this tiny little room.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mother is in Titusville Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center for rehab and I’m very impressed with it. They have a very good therapy department, the place is very clean, the rooms are big, and she gets nursing attention. The food is all homemade, and is satisfying to her. At Christmas time, they have a Christmas tea that other members of the family could come to, they had a couple of church groups that came in, and the youth members sang. They play bingo two or three times a week, bible study, a Sunday church service, and sometimes somebody comes in and plays the piano.

Making the decision to put a family member in a nursing home brought fear, and anxiety. Not knowing what to expect, dealing with the abandonment feelings, not knowing anyone made me want to turn and run. But once we came thru those doors, the staff was there to help, to answer questions, to pull our loved one into their "home away from home". The staff sensed when a hug was needed and each one was willing to work with us to provide answers to our concerns. Thru our multiple stays we knew we were loved and cared for by our extended family.

I am a friend or relative of resident

I am speaking as a family member. I have had multiple family members as residents' at this wonderful facility. From the moment they entered the facility they were met with warmth and caring. The facility exceeds expectations for cleanliness and nursing care. I was updated on changes in condition immediately and if my family needed additional care they was promptly tended to. Should anyone need to place a loved on in short or long term care I would recommend this facility without any hesitation. In addition their lesiure pursuits and activity needs were continously met, including receives excellent nursing and therapy services.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

As far as nursing homes go, Golden Living in Titusville PA is a pretty nice place if you have to use a nursing home. Of course, they also provide rehabilitation services, physical therapy and the like. My grandfather checked in over a year ago due to increasingly poor health and dementia. I've never felt like my grandfather was in any danger of abuse nor neglect, and he gets all of his medication on time and we receive frequent updates. The girls try their best to strike up conversation with him, and the physical therapist has made a surprising amount of headway my grandfather, an impressive feat seeing as he is a stubborn 90 year old man. The rooms are always clean, the social areas are always monitored well, and the food seems to be some of the better I've seen for nursing home quality food. I've visited this facility a few times before my grandfather was there for various friends of my family and the staff was always polite and helpful. My only criticism is that occasionally we will run into a snag with getting urinary and blood tests back on time, though I feel that may have to do more with the doctors that come in to visit from the local hospital than the nursing home itself.

I visited this facility

THE RESIDENCE WAS VERY CLEAN AND TIDY. THE EMPLOYEES WERE ALL VERY FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL. THEY HAVE MANY ACTIVITIES FOR THE RESIDENCE TO PARTICIPATE IN, SUCH AS GAMES, VIDEOS, AND PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES (AS TOLLERATED). THE OCCASIONALLY INVITED THE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL CHILDREN INTO THE LIVING CENTER TO INTERACT WITH THE RESIDENTS. THE RESIDENTS TELL THE CHILDREN STORIES, ANSWER QUESTIONS THAT THEY MAY HAVE, AND THEY PLAY ALL SORTS OF GAMES AND DO ALL SORTS OF CRAFTS WITH THE CHILDREN. THE CENTER URGES PARTICIPATION FROM ALL OF THE RESIDENTS. WHEN THE RESIDENTS HAVE VISITORS THEY ARE ACCOMIDATED AS POLITELY AS POSSIBLE AND ANY OF THEIR QUESTIONS ARE ALSO ANSWERED ACTURATLY AND PROMPTLY. THE FOOD THAT IS PROVIDED BY THE CENTER IS ALSO HIGH QUALITY AND PREPARED BY WONDERFUL COOKS AND FOLLOWED BY THE DIETICIAN. THIS IS A WONDERFUL FACILITY AND I WOULD NOT MIND LIVING THERE WHEN THE TIME COMES THAT I CANNOT TAKE CARE OF MYSELF.
