Foxdale Village was very nice and it would have everything we would need if we needed more help taking care of ourselves. It's nicely landscaped, and the interior spaces were lovely. It's just not what we need right now. I didn't have a formal tour. I had an informal tour with my friend who lived in one of the apartments there. It's like a little house and it was set up very nicely. She had her own furniture there, and she had her own things hanging on the walls. It was nicely maintained by Foxdale. She had assistance in cleaning, she had assistance in getting around if she had some problems, and she had meals and that seemed to be very good. She said she liked the food. It's one of the most expensive ones in town and that concerned me because I'm not sure that we could maintain ourselves at those costs. They can provide assistance as needed. When you buy into Foxdale, as you age and develop more physical problems, you can transfer from independent living into more assisted living gradually, and then full assistance if you develop dementia or if you develop some other disease that requires full-time attention.

We lived at Foxdale Village for 10 years. We had our own doctor, our own total care, assisted living, and independent living. It met all our needs. It was sparkling clean, and the public bathrooms were unbelievably clean. The food was excellent. None of the activities were run by the Foxdale people. We have 19 committees, and we all did that ourselves. If you have an interest, you can start a group. The staff was excellent. They had quite an extensive library, activity rooms, meeting rooms, auditorium, and swimming pool, and they're going to build a bocce place because some residents want it. It's well run. The independent living had homes joining each other and divided into neighborhood and ours was particularly close. We had 12 homes in that neighborhood. The assisted living was down in the main building and ate with us in the same restaurant. We can call in or the health office for medicine, and it's delivered to our home. If you need a refill, you just call up the pharmacy, and they bring it out to you. They also had medical service where people come to the apartment in the morning between 6:00 and 8:00 in the morning, and they knock on your door and take a sample of whatever is required. If you don't feel like getting up, they'll come take it in your bed, so you don't even have to get up, you just roll over and go back to sleep. I've never heard of any place doing that, but it's really nice to have that there.

Foxdale Village is run by the Quakers and it is also a not-for-profit place. I definitely decided I want to go to one of the numerous CCRCs operated by the Quakers. I have always liked the Friends' Society, so it makes sense for me to go to one of their facilities. The location of Foxdale Village is also convenient for me. I have one son who lives in State College and I'm trying to find a place that I like that can be close enough to my children, so they can come and visit me fairly regularly. Plus it is a lovely facility! They have lots of activities. Unfortunately they don't have a swimming pool, although I would still recommend this place. The staff is very nice. We got a lovely tour. As we were touring, I needed to stop and rest on one of their benches outside. While we're there resting, residents kept coming up and saying, "You need to come here, we really hope you come here, it's wonderful!" It wasn't a pre-arranged stuff and it was people who were walking by on their daily businesses, but everybody was very friendly and very happy with this place.

It was a very nice facility. I had no problems with any of them. I used to take my children over during music time and each of the kids got attached to one of the elderly patients there which I think was very helpful. They were very agreeable to community help. They were not so many activities but it is okay. I think they need to improve on the staffing for their patients because there were some of them there that needed more one-on-one care than what they were getting.

The residents are well educated and well traveled, and have a wide variety of interests. And the staff are helpful and caring. Foxdale Village is a Quater-directed Continuing Care community, with a variety of living arrangements available, from apartments and cottages to assisted living and complete care. There are many activities - exercise facilities and physical therapy departments, a large library, a lovely dining room as well as a cafe for more casual dining, a well-used art studio, concerts and recitals and lectures - all available to all residents, regardless of physical limitations. I've lived here for 14 years, and have always been very glad I made this choice.

Foxdale is an extremely high quality assisted living facility. They have two options of living quarters. Those who can, for the most part, take care of themselves, have the option to live in apartments on the premises. These apartments are equipped with a kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, living room, and laundry facilities. One of the residents that I interviewed even had the opportunity to have her own garden. The next step down from this is living in your own room in a wing of the main facility. This is for residents who need to be checked on more periodically from the staff. These rooms almost resembled door rooms, but had larger windows and felt a little homier then I ever felt in my college dorm. There are many activities set up for the residents to take part in. There are art classes and a whole art studio where residents can go and paint pictures. There are also quilting classes. You can see examples of their art work hung all around Foxdale. There are also many clubs that the residents can take part in. One of the members that I interviewed was in the bridge club. She talked fondly of their bridge games and how they were trying to recruit new members to make the club continue to grow. I have never eaten there, however, if their food is as good as the coffee that I was offered every time I went, then I can imagine that the residents wouldn't have many complaints.

This retirement community is unlike anything i have ever seen before. my girlfriends family comes from money so its not hard to believe that they take care of their own.this place has 2 grand dinning rooms complete with waitresses and other wait staff. this place is for the super wealthy. and everyone is treated exceptionally.every single aspect of your stay here is luxury. it is extremely clean and bright and the staff take great care and pride in what they do there. the grandmother never had a single complaint.neither did here mom who spent alot of time there herself.every time we went there they always had some sort of interactive event that everyone could get involved in.The two big very nice brick buildings that house foxdale village are of the highest quality with huge glass windows in the dinning hall. this place was absolutly amazing and i truly believe that anyone who has ever been there will only have good things to say about it.
