I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

The Palmerton was a nice place. I already know people that are in there, one is in assisted living and the other person is in memory care. The one in assisted living is pleased with it. He'd rather be home, but he knows it's impossible to be home. The staff was friendly. The place was clean. The rooms were private and semi-private. The private room was big and the semi-private room had two beds in it, and they were both nice. My friend said that the food is good. The menu looked good. You could choose from different items on the menu. They took us through the dining area and people were eating at the time and it was nice. They hold church services, they have bingo and crafts, and they go on bus trips. They offer a lot of different things. They have a library there. I feel comfortable if my sister-in-law would go there.

I visited this facility

The Palmerton was very organized. We had to sign in upon arrival, and we had to log our temperature. We had to wear masks and there was a questionnaire about COVID. The facilities were spotless. Everything was absolutely immaculate. They had different sized rooms. The smaller rooms seemed a little cramped. The larger rooms were decent sized, but they're immaculate. They had walk-in showers and grab rails. In terms of interactions, we were very impressed. The gentleman who took us on the tour, as we walked around, was talking with everyone. Everyone knew him, and he knew the residents by name. There were residents out and about and actively engaged in activities. There seemed to be a sense of life there, which we were happy to see. The people who worked in different departments took time out of what they were doing to talk to us. My mother-in-law needs a pureed diet and the staff spoke to us about it. She explained that it would not be a problem. She answered our questions. We spoke to the speech therapist, their activities director, and the physical therapist. They all took time out of what they were doing to talk to us, asked questions, and answered any questions we had. They're very accommodating. We were very impressed.

I visited this facility

The Palmerton is a lot smaller than another place we went. There are very few memory care patients compared to the other one. So it's not as big an area for the memory care residents, but it's still very nice. It's very clean. When we were there, there were not a lot of people in and around there. We did get to look at the rooms. The rooms seemed a little bit bigger, and the bathrooms did have bathtubs or showers. The amenities were nice. They have a salon, they also have physical and occupational, and speech therapy. Their outside area was not as large for the memory care residents. However, it was secure, so no one could walk off. The residents were included in any of the outings that the other residents would go on in assisted living. The staff is very nice, we met with the person who gave us the tour, and we met a few of the nurses that were in the memory care unit. I think a lot of the residents were at a religious service, so there weren't a lot of people down there. The staff was sitting with one or two of the residents that were in the common area, but they seemed very nice. We met them and we met the chef. She was very nice. They were a little more willing to work with us financially if we needed to.

I visited this facility

We were at The Palmerton about two weeks ago. It was a very nice facility. We just didn't feel it was quite what we were looking for. It was very well laid out, seemed very clean, and orderly. Some of the residents were doing some puzzles, but no other physical activities were going on because it was pretty cold, so there wasn't much happening. The rooms were very nicely appointed. I guess there was a large and a small room. Some double rooms or rooms would have been shared. It seemed to me like they were set up very nicely. The staff members were very amenable, very informative, and very helpful.

I visited this facility

The Palmerton was a beautiful place. It's just expensive, but I was very impressed with the director. He took his time to show us everything. We were there for about an hour and a half to two hours, and we got to talk to some of the residents. He went over everything as far as assisted living, memory care, and everything. The place was also clean. They had elevators and the staff was just amazing. My sister, my daughter and I went to look at it and we were all very impressed. We were there at lunchtime and everyone had their meals, depending on their needs. It was just wonderful.

I visited this facility

I toured The Palmerton and it's assisted living, and I would consider it as a good choice with my father's continued improvement. They have a good staff-to-patient ratio. I was able to tour and look at the rooms, and their rooms are very adequate, a nice size, and updated. I was able to talk with the staff and I was introduced to each staff member that was on duty; that included the physical therapist, the dietitian, and the arts and crafts woman. They also have beautiful grounds. There is a very nice view upstairs on the second floor where you could go outside in a shaded area with rocking chairs on a cul-de-sac. It is a nice, quiet area. I think the staff said that they are able to choose two items at each meal and they have a dietitian on staff that they can work with. The dining is, I believe, on the third floor, and so they would have to get up to the third floor by elevator. They can also assist somebody to get up to the third floor if they need it. It's very nice. It's a slightly smaller facility, so I think they can spend more attention to each.

The Palmerton is neat, it's clean, it's relatively new, and it's kept up very well. They have a very good staff and so far, my mother is liking it better than where she was. They have very good food and a very nice dining hall. I think they also have an activities room and they seem to make sure that they have some type of activity every day to keep these people entertained. She enjoyed the sing-along and on the 4th of July, they had two people in there singing patriotic songs. She is blind, that's why she's in assisted living. She went blind later in life so she never really learned Braille or anything like that.

My mother is a resident. It's a very nice place and the staff is very friendly. The food is also very nice. Some of the activities they have include painting her nails, they make arts and crafts, they have OT and PT, and they have parties (like for birthdays and Valentine's Day). They also have a movie night where I can go watch a movie with her and eat popcorn and all that.
