I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My husband was recently admitted to Eldercrest for rehab. This was our first experience with nursing home care facilities. The administrative staff made the admission process easy and they were very accommodating with some special requests and needs. There were so many wonderful nurses among them was the Nursing Director and assistant Director, Joanne and Dana. Some of the other nurses that stood out were Sue, Ron, Lisa. The aides, Rebecca, Tameka, Dee and several others were very caring, professional, and patient with both my husband and myself. The rooms were cleaned daily. The activity room was bustling every afternoon with Bingo, bowling, guest musicians and other activities, for those that wanted to participate. My husband is a picky eater and Theresa in Dietary and Chrissy in Administration went out of their way several times to provide food that he would eat. He had PT and OT daily on the week days. and they pushed him to his limit so that he could be discharged home. Being in a rehab is scary for the patient and their families. This was our first experience and I would highly recommend Eldercrest for short term rehab or as a residential nursing home facility.

I am/was a resident of this facility

I was at Eldercrest in munhall for a month and a half and I was miserable there was only a few aids that even cared and did there job well the nurse "Linda" walked around complaining how over whelmed she was and screamed and cursed at residents and patients and often mixed up people's medication and lost medication there are aids that are not "skilled" at all .. Left patients laying in soiled diapers for hours .. Severed meal trays and never even helped patients cut food or even pulled them up to a sitting position to eat and never came back to check on them until they were collecting trays .. the nurse and some of the aids only acted professional when someone's family member came around .. the so called "physical rehabilitation" is a joke you get 1 hour a day and 40 min of that is lifting a 1lb weight and leg weights strapped to you and the so called supervisor is extremely unprofessional and not very skilled for the position she holds .. the food or "slop" is a better way to describe it is not even good enough to feed a dog there is nothing nutritious served no fresh fruit .. No fresh vegetables and the steamed ones are mush and several times the food was served undercooked or not even cooked at all and when it was cooked it was ice cold .. the people in the kitchen can not cook at all there are only 48 beds and the internet has thousands of recipes and how to videos get a clue ... overall it is not a good place to send someone you love are even remotely care about look for another place I feel bed for the people that have no choice and have to be there.

I've read some of the other reviews and had to comment. Nursing homes have changed so much over the last few years. They are not hotels! The staff are taking care of sicker patients with less staff. It is not the staff that should be blamed. Don't hate the players, hate the game. Thankfully, I was able to help out and visit as much as I can. How can I hold staff accountable when they have so many people to take care of? Were things always on time? No, but nothing is perfect...even in the hospital. This place has a mixture of new staff with long-time staff. They are a blessing and truly try to do their best. We are in a pandemic and everyone has been overworked! The meals were adequate and best at lunch and dinner. If mom didn't like it, we were able to bring food in for her. The therapy department was wonderful. Again, you only get out of it what you put into it. When mom refused, she was encouraged to attend and they really did get her back into shape to come home! Mom enjoyed some of the activities but felt bad for the person in charge not having a helper.

Family member was there for IV antibiotics prior to surgery. During the stay: * food was terrible (we feed our dog better quality) * we never saw a single staff member wash their hands when entering or leaving the room * developed Stage 2 wound from lack of care * nursing staff did not wear mask provided in PICC line kit when changing dressing (laid it on the bed) * Many nurses were careless with PICC line injection port, often contaminating it after cleaning it * Nurses needed to be reminded to put a cap back on PICC line port Only good thing we can say: *Rooms were adequate Will NEVER go there again ! ! !

Eldercrest Nursing Center was a very poor place. Mom was supposed to be in the skilled nursing part where she could get therapy, but that didn’t happen. The staff was not nice to the residents. It was not a good place. They're not doing their job. They're not doing therapy like they're supposed to. They're not watching the old folks like they should, and they're not being kind to the old folks like they should. The rooms were very small and there were too many residents in a room. They do have activities for their residents, but they didn’t let Mom participate in any of them.

MY DAD WAS HERE FOR 11 DAYS AND GOT SUCH HORRIBLE CARE THAT I TRUELY FEEL SORRY FOR THE POOR PEOPLE THAT REMAIN THERE. HIS DIAPER WAS NOT CHANGED FOR HOURS ON END. HE HAD ONLY ONE SHOWER DURING HIS STAY AND HIS TEETH WERE NEVER BRUSHED. WHEN WE ASKED THE STAFF IF THEY COULD BRUSH HIS TEETH THEY TOOK HIM BACK ONLY TO BRING HIM OUT WITH THE SAME CRUMBS ON HIS FACE AND FOOD IN HIS FRONT TEETH. MY DAD NEVER FELL IN HIS LIFETIME UNTIL HE STAYED THERE. HE FELL 4 TIMES WHILE IN THE CARE OF ELDERCREST. ONE FALL WAS BAD ENOUGH THAT HE WAS SENT TO HAVE A CT SCAN TO MAKE SURE HIS HEAD WAS OK. I WAS ALERTED BY ONE OF THE STAFF THAT MY DAD'S URINE WAS DARK BROWN. I TOLD THE NURSES SO THEY COULD GET A URINE SAMPLE AND CHECK FOR A UTI. MY DAD WAS PRONE TO THEM AND THEY EFFECTED HIM TERRIBLY. IT TOOK 8 DAYS OF ME ASKING THE STAFF AND GOING TO THE DIRECTIOR TWICE FOR THEM TO FINALLY FIND OUT THAT YES, HE HAD AN INFECTION!!!!! AND MY DAD NEEDED FED AND WHEN THEY COULD FINALLY FIND THE STAFF TO FEED HIM, HIS FOOD WAS ICE COLD. MY DAD HAD AN ALARM ON HIS BED TO LET STAFF KNOWN WHEN HE GOT UP BUT ON AT LEAST THREE OCCASIONS I ARRIVED TO FIND THE BELL BLASTING WITH NO ONE EVEN PAYING IT ANY MIND. THEY SAID THEY COULD NOT HEAR IT AT THE FRONT DESK WITH MY DADS ROOM BEING AT THE VERY END OF THE HALL. THEY SAID THEY COULD NOT CHANGE HIS ROOM BECAUSE THE BEDS WERE FULL SO I THOUGHT WHAT GOOD WAS THE ALARM??? MY DAD WAS LIKE A VEGETABLE WHILE HE WAS THERE. HIS HEAD HANGING OVER TO THE SIDE. WE WERE SICK OF WHAT WE SAW SO WE TOLD THEM WE WERE GOING TO TAKE HIM HOME. OH WOW!!!! THEY TRIED EVERYTHING TO KEEP HIM THERE SAYING HE WOULD NOT BE SAFE AT HIS HOME. ARE REPLY WAS THAT HE IS NOT SAFE AT ELDERCREST!!!!! THEY THREATENED THAT IF WE TOOK HIM HOME AGAINST THEIR WISHES, THEY WOULD NOT PROVIDE ANY OUT SIDE RESOURCES AND HE COULD NOT HAVE ANY PRESCRIPTIONS FOR THE MEDS THAT HE WAS ON. WHAT?????? HE WAS ON AN ANTIBIOTIC AND IT IS DANGEROUS TO STOP IT IN THE MIDDLE OF ITS COURSE. PLEASE, IFYOU LOVE YOUR FAMILY MEMBER, DON'T LET THEM STAY HERE.

I visited this facility

Upon entering my Aunts room, I found the garbage can overflowing, the floor was filthy and her bedside tray dirty. Her bedside commode was not emptied For the majority of the day. The nursing staff and Aides were inadequate. Giving very poor care and attention to the patients. I would NEVER recommend this place.

I have to say I didn't relive what a great rehab this would be.I pleasantly surprised how caring and compassionate everyone is all the way to the top of management. When I got there was I was still in a lot of pain but my nurse that day was linda and she was wonderful and I felt very comfortable and felt I was in very good hands.I highly recommend this facility.even the head of the kitchen Gary came to my room and make sure my needs were met due to my diabetes.Everday all of the staff greeted me a smile and kind words I really think it's a great staff.I truly was pleasantly surprised and very happy that I chose eldercrest it is much much more than a nursing home.

I am a friend or relative of resident

My husband, at 52, had to have skilled nursing care for the last month or so of his life. We, along with his Dr, decided on Eldercrest. The staff and medical attention that he received while there, was excellent. Very caring and always looking to see if the family needed anything as well. I have highly recommended this home to quite a few people and will continue to do so.

I visited this facility

We had both of our parents in the rehabilitation program. The therapist who worked with them were excellent. However the nursing staff, aides, and workers were less than adequate. We had to pull both of our parents out of there due to them becoming sicker than when they went in. We were told we were pulling them out against medical advice and had the ambulance take them to the ER. Both of them were very sick one with Pnemonia, and the other with aspirative pneumonia. Constantly they were not checked on, or showered. A family member had to be around at all times in order to make sure they were getting the care they needed.
