We moved my father and brother in to Independent Living together and their duplex unit couldn't be more perfect. It was all remodeled and has everything they need. Within three months, our father had a stroke and was moved in to the Rehab facility where he declined rapidly and sadly, passed away there. I can't say enough about the excellent care he received there and the support offered our family. My brother remains in the cottage attending classes and events. He has a disability so is well supported with maintenance, etc. We are so glad we chose this community.

We toured Buffalo Valley Lutheran Village for my mom. We chose that because it was a continuing care facility, and she needs a little bit more one-on-one beyond a home health care provision. The staff were very helpful with questions. They also came out of the car with the wheelchair to get my mom. They made sure that she had all her questions answered, too. They have a new wing, and we were very pleased with it. They have a courtyard, a salon, and in-house rehab facilities as well.

I lived in Buffalo Valley Lutheran Village for 15 years. Before Covid, we had exercise programs, music programs, and we would go to a local university. I've lived in a house there. The staff was great. We had a place where we could go for lunch and pay for it, but we weren't offered dining services all the time. Value for money was very good.

Buffalo Valley Lutheran Village is the same as the other place, but a little bit more expensive. They have been very welcoming and are continuing to get in touch with me; others haven't done that. They have invited me to activities happening during the Christmas season too. They have homes that you can buy. Some of them are really large. They also have separate apartments. They have a café too. If you don't like what's offered in the dining room, you can go and buy what you want or, you can fix what you want in your own kitchen. They have a library, a café, and gazebo outside, which is nice. They offer exercises too. They offer quite a few things. The only thing with Buffalo Village is that it is near Lewisburg, which is a very busy town. There's a beautiful university there, but the traffic is quite bad.

Buffalo Valley is a retirement community, but it has different levels. It is outstanding. We were pleasantly surprised. It is far superior to anything we imagined. The facilities are so well-kept, nicely decorated, and spotlessly clean. In the nursing home, it doesn't smell like a nursing home; it is so pleasant and so fresh. The people went out of their way to be nice and accommodating. We can't say enough about Buffalo Valley. If the time comes when we are going to choose a place, it's probably the place we will choose. There is a very nice library and a big room that you can use for free if you want to have a family gathering. You just have to sign up for it because it's first come, first serve. There is a nice exercise room with nice equipment in it, and there is a small hair salon. One of the extras for the area is that the Bucknell University is right there, and a lot of times, they will come in and use the Buffalo Valley facility for a lecture or a discussion. All the residents that want to can be involved in that. They provide transportation to the university for concerts or a football games. It's great.

I can not say enough good things about the dedication and compassion of the people who work in the personal care and nursing areas of Buffalo Valley Lutheran Village. Nurses, nursing assistants, therapists, activities director, administration, reception, dining and custodial staff all go the extra mile to provide the best care they can for the residents and their families. Everyone is adept at what they do, and so thoughtful and kind.

My mother wanted to go to Buffalo Valley Lutheran Village, and they had a waiting list. She wants to go there because she had a brother, and sister-in-law who were there for a long time who were treated very well. Also, the director is a son of her favorite doctor, and it's closer to her home. The rooms were nice, and I liked them better because they had little kitchenettes, microwave, a refrigerator, and she doesn't have that where she is. They were a bit smaller, but adequate. They had programs. We were there around Thanksgiving, and they were having a salute to veterans. They have a very nice library which appealed to my mother. They have exercise programs, musical events, and people come in.

Buffalo Valley was very nice. The staff appeared to be good and seemed to be straight forward. They had activities, but nothing was going on when I was there.

Buffalo Valley Lutheran was very nice. I would have chosen this place except for the fact that it was about half-hour away from my home, whereas the other facility was only 15 minutes away. The staff was wonderful. It was a very nice place. They have a beautiful dining facility, beautiful rooms, and hallways. One of the features that Buffalo Valley has is it has been re-funded, therefore they'll never let go, whether you run out of money or not. So in other words, once you're there, you're there to stay no matter what. They have an attached memory care/skilled nursing facility, and that was very nice, because it was basically part of the same building.

I was impressed with Buffalo Valley Lutheran Village, and that's where I'm moving. I have heard nothing but good about this community from co-workers and friends of my daughter who live in town. I was impressed too with the personnel and the residents that I met when I was there. I also liked that it's close to my daughter. I'm going to be moving into a cottage.

I liked their facility, but it's just too expensive for me. I really liked the director. They were very helpful and very nice. I would highly recommend Buffalo Valley.

I loved the person at Buffalo Valley -- I think her name was Gretchen. She invited Cathy and I down, and we had lunch with her and her dog. They had a continuum of care where you could go to different levels. That was beautiful also. It just didn't have all the added amenities. It had some, but it didn't have an art studio. I went to the independent living facility. The cottages were perfect. They were beautiful. They were in the right size, the right shape, and the right colors. Before you move, you would choose the paint colors and the carpet. They would put a new carpet down for you. Everything was brand new when you moved in. When we were there, the people were out walking with their pets, and they would wave as you went by. It is a "want to be there" and not a "dumped there" place. Everything was so nice and clean. There was storage unit outside that was attached to the apartment. I was sure they had a yarn, sewing, or quilting club. However, I couldn't afford the cost.

My aunt lived here for several years. During her time there she enjoyed the facility and the staff for the most part, but as her family we had some reservations. She lead activities such as exercise and bible study because the girls were "just too busy" so they wouldn't get done otherwise. This was annoying to us because she was paying good money to stay there. They had their food delivered from an outside source which was far away and according to her wasn't very good. She was constantly having people come get her to go out to dinner or lunch. She was pretty healthy just had terrible eyesight, but I question whether they had enough staff to properly handle the number of residents. Overall though I feel that at least the staff was nice to the residents and did not seem to try to scam or hurt them in anyway such as some of the horror stories you hear.
