The Good: -Facility is for the most part clean and home-like -Staff including Dietary, CNA's, PT, and Housekeeping are personable and caring, going above and beyond to make residents and their loved ones feel like family. As a family member of a resident this has always been a great comfort to know that his main caretakers truly care about his well being. The Bad: -Licensed staff including RN's and LPN's provided less than accurate Plans of Care for my grandfather and were unaware of major changes in his condition leaving advocates (family members) feel as though he constantly needed a family member present to ensure he was provided the appropriate care. This seemed to be and issue on the weekends when "regular staff" was not working. -On Call Physicians whom cover for PCP's on weekends and/or holidays did not address my grandfathers rapid decline with appropriate changes in medication, diet, or plan of care r/t his inability to swallow, unrelieved pain, and/or extreme lethargy. The Lutheran Home of Kane and residents in their care in my opinion as a family member are very fortunate for excellent CNA, Dietary, Housekeeping, and Physical therapy staff. The services provided in these departments went above and beyond my expectations. I do not feel that my grandfather receives appropriate care in a timely manner r/t his changes in condition. If he were not end of life we would be moving him to a different facility but at this point a transition such as that would be detrimental to his well-being.

The Lutheran home in Kane is by far the best facility I have seen. The staff interacts with patients even in there free time like when they are on breaks. the halls have a homey feel about them and you get a family type feeling from everyone there. They meet with family's every so often to go over care plans so you can tailor your loved ones care to their needs. and at anytime you have a problem someone will talk to you to help work it out. There are a lot of activities for the residents and also outings for them. The grounds are well maintained the is a walkway the whole way around the building with flowers and bird feeders to enjoy. There is also a enclosed outdoor area for residents that might wander off. If you are looking for a assisted living facility I strongly urge you to look into the Lutheran home in Kane Pa.
