Wonderful, caring, kind, compassionate staff. Every staff member I’ve talked with have been super helpful. This is a clean facility as well. You won’t find staff standing around talking with each other because they are always working. Whenever I have asked for help with my aunt I’ve been met with a positive response and attitude. I can’t say enough good things about this facility. Thank you Laurelwood for taking such good care of my auntie!!

My dad was in LaurelWood Care Center. He didn't have a good experience with them. He was in the nursing home for rehab, and he was there for three weeks. My dad has a urostomy bag, and when I went up to visit him the day before Christmas, he went to the bathroom and I ended up going in with him, and when he pulled his diaper down, he didn't have his urostomy bag on. They were not putting his urostomy bag on his stomach. That is to be kept on there 24/7. It's like it was a wide-open wound for him being that it was open. There was no covering; it just had the diaper up over the top of it. And they were supposed to be doing physical therapy with him. The physical therapist would only come into his room, and they only did a physical exercise of him getting up off his bed, walking around his bed to the other side and sittin down, and then turning around and coming back and sitting down back on the bed. It was like 10 minutes that they were in his room for his rehab. I don't feel that they are working with the patients enough to help them get better. My dad left there at the end of December (he was forced out pretty much) because they didn't want to run his new insurance to see if he could be kept there for more physical therapy. So they made him come home when he was not ready to come home on the standards of him not walking to his best potential. They sent him home on New Year's Eve. The facility itself was OK, but the floor was all sticky. When I went into my dad's room, there was blood on the floor at one time. I don't think the rooms and their personal self were best kept. I had never seen them do activities with him. They put him in his wheelchair, and he would go to the dining area, and he would just be pushing himself around in a wheelchair. Any time I was there, I had never seen them do any other kind of activities with them. Payment went through his insurance. We had no out-of-pocket or anything, but I'm not sure what it would cost if there's any money involved. I would say it's not worth it because they don't seem like they did anything with him.

I visited my brother at LaurelWood Care Center. When I walked into his room, he was on a Porta Potty, and he told me to leave, so I stood outside and waited, and he had been ringing for somebody to come help him and they didn't come for a good 20 minutes or more. I didn't care for that very much. He was there on a temporary basis, and they were supposed to do rehab with him. He said that he had been there for 5 days and he never left that room, so there was no rehab for those 5 days. There were apartments there as well. The lady who helped my brother appeared not to be at all happy doing her job. He was in his room with another individual, and that man must have been hard of hearing because his television was blasting. The room was no bigger than a hospital room with 2 beds in it. It was an older facility, and it didn't seem to have any of the upgrades. It was kind of a jigsaw puzzle getting to his room, and I just passed hospital rooms and I saw people in beds. I was not impressed with the facility, but it was clean enough. The only thing that he had to do there as far as I could tell was watch television.

While searching for a personal care home for a family member I want to note the very positive experience we had with Amber Springs at Laurel Wood. The personal attention the residents receive from a warm and caring staff was kind and genuine. The room options were lovely.... fresh, clean, and modern with walk in showers with seats and hand-held shower heads. Beautiful views from the residents rooms, dining area, and other common areas surround the facility. The Administrator gave us a personal tour and took whatever time we needed, sensitive to the fact that this was a very important decision we were making. In this moderately large facility, he knew each resident by name and stopped to lend a hand to a number of people during our tour. Most notable to me, was a very pleasant staff that seemed happy to be there, and greeted us with warmth and reassurance. Amber Springs at Laurel Wood is a place well worth your time and consideration!

I visit a close friend of the family at Amber Springs almost weekly and must say it's quite a cheerful and active community. Every time I'm there I see many of the residents enjoying activities in the dining hall and chatting in the lounges. Seems like everyone is happy and the staff is helpful and attentive, I can always find someone if we need anything. No complaints from our Aunty either, she loves spending time with her friends outside and watching the deer in the spring.

The administrative staff, NHA and DON, talk thru both sides of their mouth. I am a RN and know quality care. It doesn't exist at Laurelwood. My father has been discharged to another facility and is doing much better,

My mother originally came to Laurelwood after she fell and the staff were amazing. She made so many new friends, and really enjoyed watching the deer go by her room every day. Laurelwood was able to get her back up on her feet again, which was great, but we decided she wasn't safe being at home by herself anymore and decided to move her into Amber Springs, the personal care side of Laurelwood. It was so nice to have everything we needed in one place with staff that we could trust. I definitely recommend this home if you need care.

LaurelWood have a pretty simple little room, and the dining room was clean and spacious. The safety seems pretty good, but I think the price could be a little bit better. I don’t think it’s too far off with the average places.
