My mother was in Garvey Manor Nursing Home, and it was absolutely outstanding. I could not have asked for a better place. They gave wonderful care, and they're compassionate. They were unbelievable. She was there for six years, and then she passed away in December. It's an excellent maintained facility. The staff was wonderful and very responsive to your needs. Spiritually and physically, the residents are well cared for. It's a wonderful place. I would have lunch with my mother, and the food was very good. Socially, there was a lot of interaction for the residents. They were well provided for. It was just a wonderful, wonderful place; it was just amazing. I toured some in Philadelphia, and I wouldn't put anybody in them, but this place is incredible. I mean, the floors were just immaculate and the care that they gave these people.

My mother began to call this her home and everyone there her family. She started out in an independent living apartment, but after several years, she needed more care and transferred to a personal care apartment. The staff is loving, competent, caring. There are more than enough activities of many kinds to provide mental, social and physical outlets. There are trips for shopping and recreation. Transportation can be provided for doctors visits. Mom transferred back and forth from assisted living to skilled nursing as her health deteriorated and then improved. She was treated as a valued person, and her needs and wants were always considered as well as those of the facility. She passed with dignity and even in death, she was treated with great love. I would without reservation recommend Garvey Manor to anyone.

We chose Garvey Manor for my mom because it's very close to her home and she even has friends that are in there. My niece works there part time. I've gone there several times with my mother for my aunts and different people that were there. Even my grandma was there. They have a new building actually built by my cousins. I think my mom will be comfortable with that. They have really nice staff.

During my visits to my grandfather here, I have had countless experiences with the staff. Every time I spoke with them, they were as friendly and welcoming as could be. After about two weeks, many of the staff knew me and my family by name. My grandfather was well taken care of by the staff at Garvey Manor. The residents had various different activities they could partake in and the staff would also have trips scheduled for those willing to go shopping. I do recall my grandfather saying the food was good, but I have never tried it myself. The facility itself is very well kept and maintained and seemed more of like a hotel than an assisted living complex. Given the location of the residence, it makes an excellent choice if you work anywhere in the Altoona / Hollidaysburg area. Lunch break or after work stops are very convenient since the drive is not far. If your seeking an assisted living facility, this really is a wonderful option!

My mother was admitted to a nursing home when her Alzheimer started to get progressively worse. With only her well being in mind we did research and choose Garvey Manor as a logical choice for her stay. The home is located very close to Altoona, a major shopping center in PA so when we took her out for breaks we did not have to go far. Every time we visited we are constantly told how great the food was over and over and over again. I found the home to be less jail like compared to over assisted living homes. My mother had very much freedom and everyone there was so nice. Her nurse, Nancy, was amazing. Very personable and knew all of us by name after the first week. It was truly a pleasure to be able to deal with such a great group of people who obviously loved helping others. I hope my kids have the decency to find me somewhere like Garvey Manor if I ever need to be put in a home.
