DuBois Village was very nice. I liked everything about it, but what was holding me back was the cost of it. When I asked about the semi-private rooms which they had, they just kind of pooh- poohed them. They didn't give me much information on them. They sent me a price list and that's why I made the appointment because I was going by the semi-private prices. When I told them about my mother and the staff said, 'Well, I probably have the perfect thing.' She said that it would be a shared room with another woman. It would be a large shared room, so they would both have a lot of room. They both have the same thing, e.g., dementia. My mom is big on having a companion around her, and the other woman is the same way, so it kind of sounds like it's just the perfect situation for us. The residents were playing bingo when I was there. They have menus. They have options that they can choose daily for their meals. The place was very clean. It was very positive. Everything was included in the rent except the beauty salon, it might have been extra. They do laundry and housekeeping. They had different options. Every room had a bath and shower, but then they also had a walk-in tub, and then they have another place where you could just take the wheelchair in the shower. That's a struggle with my mom because of trying to get her in and out of the shower, so the one with the wheelchair was good.
