I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

This place absolutely sucked. My grandma went here and her experience was a nightmare. They refused to give her her medicine and when they did give it to her they refused to tell her what it actually was. She was at the nursing home for a full week before they actually gave her all of her medicine. In the room next door to my grandma a man fell and he was screaming for almost an hour before someone came in to help him. When they went to help him they tried to be quiet about it so no one would know. When my grandma would press the button to get help to go to the bathroom they would ignore her and she would have to get up on her own. She had absolutely no help whatsoever. When they would give out food they would either help someone to the bathroom or give them their food. They refused to do both. If you needed to use the bathroom you wouldn't get food and if they gave you food you wouldn't go to the bathroom. When we came to visit her the employees told us that she hadn't been pressing the button to get help. We talked to my grandma and she told us that she had been. She continues to try to get help but the staff completely ignored her. There were few people who actually tried to help and be kind to their fellow humans. When my grandma would ask for water they would refuse to give it to her because she had ice left in her cup. She would continue to ask for water and they eventually stopped giving it to her. The few people who actually did care couldn't do much because they were so short-staffed.

Please if you are thinking of have your love one stay at this facility - Run as far away as you can from it. While my family member was at the facility Their condition got worse after returning from each hospital stay a new issue came up that sent the love one back to the hospital. Barely monitor people's condition. The wound care by that facility is a joke and led my love one to have MERSA. Please do not send your love one here. I hope the state shuts it down soon.

I am/was a resident of this facility

I loved the staff, they made me feel as if I was at home. The care I received was above excellent, from the dialysis, occupational therapy and physical therapy, nursing and nursing aids staff took such great care of me. The rooms and throughout the facility was every clean and staff was very friendly. God bless and thank you. Sincerely Ms. Kimberly

This is an awful place! Very dirty! The rooms are extremely small and very hard to maneuver around in. Bathrooms are very small too (and dirty!) and if you need a wheelchair or walking aid, very difficult to use. Mistakes were made with medicine, so watch your loved one to make sure they are getting what they have been prescribed! Most of the staff were nice and doing the best they can with what is available, but a few of them need to find a different job, they are not suitable to take care of helpless people. Not enough handwashing of the staff, for sure! My loved one will not be going back to that dump.

I visited this facility

Rehab/therapy is mediocre at best. A resident I visited frequently declined in their rehab status once they arrived. They never made any significant gains and went home worse than when the arrived in my opinion. Therapists spent more time complaining about their personal lives than focusing on therapy. Staff was hit or miss. There were a handful of nurses and aides who really cared and took the time to listen to a resident’s concerns. Others complained about there jobs and had poor attitudes. They favored some patients but said others had behavior issues if they disagreed with their care or why they were taking other medications. It was constantly loud in the hallways and patients TVs were at full volume at all hours of the day. Not the type of environment one can test and heal in if you ask me. Wouldn’t recommend this facility to anyone.

The staff treat me really great. The nurses, social worker, therapy and business office have been wonderful to me. I cant say one bad word about this place.

I visited this facility

While at the greenery for a visit, I noticed a lady laying in her own feces on her face for a couple hours while the nurses and aids would walk in and out of her room. They then would not tell someone else about it but rather leave it for the next person. I have filed a neglect complaint.

The facility is dirty. Nurses and aides do not wash or sanitize their hands before or after caring for a patient. My family member contracted MERSA, VRE and a critical UTI while in their care as well as contractures from lack of both appropriate physical therapy and braces, bed sores from not being repositioned for hours and hours on end and became raw, red and blistery from being left to sit in dirty briefs. She was lucky to be changed once a shift. I was leary upon admission because of the terrible smell of urine and feces. Wish I had trusted my instincts. If you are considering entrusting your loved one to this facility please visit this place after 7 pm to see the filth the patients are left in and notice the horrific smell. The uncleanliness is a terrible health risk to the patients.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

Through my three or so visits, I have seen how the staff and the residents work and live respectively. In one visit, they had a patient out in the center courtyard on a 105*F day. (While it was of the patient's own volition, someone should have stepped in to bring them indoors and into the air conditioning.) Also, while the staff seem nice, they do not really help the patients unless it is absolutely necessary. The building is kept clean, though you can tell that it is a nursing home for the atmosphere is kept calm. They have events for the residents that they give out through a monthly calendar, though they do not state it to the patients on the day of. So far, my grandmother seems to like the place but, sometimes, cannot stand the faults.

My mother was a patient for 1 week at this nursing Home while on Hospisis before she died. I spent 12 hours aday at the home with my mother every day she was there. Most of the week she was unresponsive so it was just me. I am a nurse also. The staff was very supportive and let me help with my mom's care. Even though she lasted only a week they cared for me like she has been a resident for a long time. They offered me meals since she could not eat and I was there all day. They always offered coffee and if I needed anything at all. I was also allowed to bring in my dog to visit my mom. She had always loved my dog and I was able to put her on the bed next to my mom and put her hand on my dog and she moved her fingers alittle in my dogs fur. That ment so much that they allowed that to ocurr. And when the time came when she passed they gave me the time to say goodbye.

Friend or relative of resident

My great-grandmother was the victim of 2 strokes within a 2 month time span and after her second stroke, she had to be placed in the Greenery of Canonsburg. When she first arrived she was in a room with another woman. The staff at this facility was very professional and some were very caring and patient with my large family constantly visiting. They took great care in making sure she never got bed sores, was cleaned regularly, and was comfortable. She was not able to speak after the stroke but she always seemed at ease and as content as possible when we visited. When she took a turn for the worse and the doctors told us that she wasn't going to be with us much longer, the Greenery staff moved my great grandmother to her own room so we had more privacy during visits. The entire facility was very clean and organized. Another little thing I really respected about the facility was the fact that they treated my gram like a member of their own family. I know she was taken great care of in her final weeks on this earth, and that is thanks to the Greenery of Canonsburg. The fact that there is free parking, free laundry service, and unlimited visiting hours were all very nice aspects and very accomodating for family that would like to spend a lot of time with their loved one. All in all the Greenery of Canonsburg, Pennsylvania is a very respectable, clean, well staffed facility.
