After a lot of research and visiting facilities, I moved my father into Chestnut Knoll in August 2023. To be honest, the close proximity to my home (10 minutes away) and the costs (no massive initial buy-in fees) were initially the most appealing aspects, but as the months have gone by I can hardly express how happy I am with the decision. Every single aspect of the care and attention my father receives at Chestnut Knoll is outstanding. First in assisted living and now in memory care, every effort is made to see to the comfort, safety, and encouragement of residents. I visit quite often and at various times, so I’ve probably crossed paths with nearly every employee. Hearing my father greeted by name, seeing him smile in return, seeing his room clean and tidy, seeing him well-fed, gaining weight, clean, and regularly engaged by staff members…what a blessing Chestnut Knoll is to both of us! I know that the process of moving a parent into care is an agonizing one. At Chestnut Knoll you will find help, encouragement, comfort, guidance, and a friendly welcome from every staff member. I highly recommend this facility as the best option for the continued care of your aging parents.

Both my parents were residents at chestnut knoll. One in assisted living and one in memory care. I can’t say enough about the care they had. The staff handled any situation as well as anyone could have (especially memory care). They definitely have a tough but from what I seen a rewarding job. Even if it was something as to just putting a smile on the residents face was all they needed. The food? No comment because I didn’t eat it but never heard a complaint from either parent. The cost well go and try to find any assisted-living facility that gives the same care for the same costs. So both parents have passed and I want to thank all staff (including hospice care) from top to bottom for everything they did to help make them rest in peace.

I toured Chestnut Knoll Personal Care and Memory Care. It's a very nice community. It feels like home. The activities, the director I met, and everything was very nice. Kelly was excellent. The cleanliness and structure of the building seemed good. The layout of the building is fine. I saw the dining area, it was nice and looked comfortable.

When I was here, I found it very comforting. Everyone was kind and helpful. Everything is clean and the food is great. I rather hated leaving it was so nice because I had to go home to an empty house and wait on myself. I enjoyed my time here, it was like staying with friends. I would recommend it to anybody. I come back every week for the exercise classes. The ladies and I in class love Eric, Jeff, Liz and Corey in FOX. Everybody laughs in class, Chestnut Knoll does a great job.

Room was good. I had a roommate, then I moved to a private room. Best breakfast! I still come back to have breakfast. I went home with my wife after a few months. I never had any trouble with anybody. Staff here was really nice.

My mother has been in memory care at Chestnut Knoll since April of 2023. The staff and director are thorough, very friendly, professional and most importantly, caring and respectful of the residents as they live through their dementia journey.. In addition, the staff offers the same care and support to the families of the residents.

The food is excellent and the coffee is hot. The people are great. I'll try any activity they throw at me and I go to all the exercise classes. I play all the games (as long as they're not cards). We go on trips and bus rides. I'm very happy here!

When I think of Chestnut Knoll (CK), I think of hope in a crisis. My family had a very simple plan: move Mom into a nearby care facility so we could still enjoy lots of time with her, while she would have the 24/7 care her loss of skills required. We chose a well-reviewed facility nearby. They assessed her, and while Mom was very unwilling to move, we were assured this was common and that Mom would soon adjust. Sadly, that was not our story. Shortly after move in, we received a call that we needed to move Mom out; she was not a good fit. We moved her back home and hired in-home care. That also went poorly - Mom locked out any caregivers she did not like, and we still paid for the shift. She would not accept the needed care. My siblings were not liked-minded on what to do, and it was ripping us apart and stressing out everyone, including Mom. As I called around to the area care facilities, none would take her unless she cooperated. One provider told me that unlike other facilities, CK is specifically prepared to handle dementia behaviors. When I called CK, I was very honest with Julie with what our family was dealing with. Julie gave me the first hope I had in the crisis. The first surprise was that Denise from memory care was willing to come to Mom’s house and assess her; the other places wanted us to bring Mom to them. Once CK came into our lives, they knew what to do and how to do it. Convincing Mom to drive to CK did not go well, but even then, CK had an admission plan that worked. Once Mom moved into CK, she was given the necessary attention and time to adapt. Her behaviors came around. The first time I went to see her, I visited until dinnertime, and was happily shocked when Mom wanted to join her friends at dinner rather than see me off. Here are some of the benefits of life at CK memory unit beyond 24/7 care: eating three meals a day with ability-appropriate friends; on-site dental and geriatric psychiatrist appointments, no add-on charges for incidentals like laundry, monthly dementia support group, community events on-site - Mom loved those! Mom liked the staff - they knew her by name - and also liked the food. How do you say thank you to a place that gave you your mother back? Thank you, Chestnut Knoll!

My mother was in memory care at Chestnut Knoll. From my first phone call and meeting to the days after my mother passed and we left CK, we had nothing but exceptional care. Everyone is truly caring, professional and engaged. Denise is by far the best director for memory care. We had prior experiences of care for my mom and none were of the level Chestnut Knoll provided. They consider you and your loved one as family and they become family to you. We couldn’t have asked for a better place or people to care for my mom in her final year.

A year ago my mother experienced a fall, needed physical therapy & supportive supervision. Chestnut Knoll provided the Fox Physical Therapy Program, one of the best in PA.This enabled her to have therapy on site, while dedicated staff was available to oversee her medications, provide assistance yet encourage independence/autonomy with having her own room. She quickly became engaged in activities she loves all within walking distance: crafts, church, rosary, cards, bingo, movies, town hall meetings, and weekly field trips. She reports the food is delicious, 3 meals a day every day. The staff from various roles are very dedicated to her needs. Initially she was very skeptical of leaving her home and felt loss of control. A year later, she is self sufficient, and enjoys helping other residents and staff too! The entire Chestnut Knoll community has been a positive and amazing influence on her health overall! I can’t thank everyone enough!

My parents moved into Chestnut Knoll Personal Care and Memory Care. So far, it's been excellent. The administrative staff has been amazing. The care staff is very good, they're lovely people. The room is excellent, it's very nice. It's small, but it's very clean. My parents love the food. They've only been there a few days, and I haven't seen any activities yet. My father's skilled living and my mom's assisted living. But they're both in the same room, which was nice that they accommodated us. I think it is important that everybody is cheerful. They're very kind, respectful. They act like they care versus just they're there to do their job. I feel that they do care, and that's very easy to see. They show that.

We are so pleased with the care my uncle is receiving at Chestnut Knoll. The staff members are loving and compassionate. He is treated with respect and dignity. From his first day, we felt welcomed and knew we made the right decision to place him here. All his needs are being met, and we feel we are getting quality care for him.

I toured Chestnut Knoll Personal Care and Memory Care. It's a beautiful facility. They have a lot of amenities and I saw some good staff interaction with the patients. They have these little stations in their memory care unit, and I liked that they included those. This one was laid out like a kind of circular, that was a nice layout. The reason they didn't work for us is that my mom needs to be fed. They said that they couldn't do it themselves and I'd have to have personal care aide come in and do it. Of course, it is more money. The place is nice and it's okay if people have that extra money to put out there. One thing I found that was different about them than others is they include a level of care for memory care. And what I mean by that is if your family member is in assisted living, it makes sense for them to have levels of care because somebody in assisted living might just be there because they fall once in a while. But then if all of a sudden, they're incontinent, now they need more attention. So, it makes sense to charge like an extra four hundred dollars. This place charges an extra four hundred dollars in memory care and the other places that were memory care had a flat rate. Incontinence, for example, is just part of dementia and Alzheimer's. It's going to come at some point or another. So with them, I have to pay more for each of those things. It seemed a little odd considering the other places I toured didn't charge extra for that. I should just say it wasn't all-inclusive memory care. I saw that one first, and when they told me they could not feed my mom, I thought that I might be wasting my time for the whole weekend.

My mother has moved into Chestnut Knoll. It seemed like the memory care was more prepared to deal with the certain specific problems that she was having. It seemed like they had more activities to involve her in and more room to just let her roam around. The physical appearance is very nice and very clean. They have some clever things around the building. Sometimes the residents keep wanting to go home, so they have a little a fake bus stop there with a bench and a bus schedule. They can wait for the bus to go home until they calm down a little bit. That was pretty clever. They have other things around like little workbenches and cribs with dolls, in case they get into those kinds of moods. The staff is very pleasant and very nice. My mother is happy. She was raving about how nice everybody was. I was very happy with the facility. It was laid out nice, and there was plenty of room for them to roam around. My mother loves to walk. They seem to have a lot for her to do.

Chestnut Knoll is a hidden gem in Berks County. Our Mom has been in their Memory Care for three years and loves it. When we first walked in to tour the facility we knew we found a place for Mom. The layout is designed beautifully for residents with memory issues and is clean and bright and welcoming. There are two secure adjacent courtyards that residents can use to read, chat or just enjoy some fresh air. The staff are wonderful, caring people who really love what they do. The staff keeps everyone engaged with on site activities that all residents can enjoy. Their off campus trips are a favorite as well. They also have staff on their team (Fox Rehab) who can offer Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy if needed. If you are struggling on making a move with a loved one, visit Chestnut Knoll. Best decision we ever made for our mom. Kim Christman

When we had to arrange for my cousin to go into Chestnut Knoll we knew it would be hard as she was so independent. They were incredibly patient with her and did everything they could to make the transition easier. The staff are incredibly kind and caring and treated her like family. She was there for 5 years, latterly confined to bed, but with additional help from CK Care at Home and Hospice Services she was incredibly well looked after. The rooms are spacious and bright, it is well heated and the food is excellent. Staff were always helpful and they organised a good range of activities for residents. My cousin loved watching the birds and listening to the music and made some lovely new friends there.

In October 2019, my sister and I started searching for a memory care facility for our dear Mother who was suffering from moderate to severe dementia. From the moment we walked into the Chestnut Knoll lobby, we were warmly greeted by an office staff member. We were given a tour of the memory care unit. It was so nicely decorated, was so clean and had a nice fragrance. You could just feel the warmth and coziness there. Our Mother has now been a resident for seven months. In early March 2020, the Executive Staff wisely stopped visitations, and to my knowledge, there have been no Covid-19 resident cases. Prior to the Covid-19 pandemic, I would visit with my Mother three times a week, spending several hours with her each time. Every time I was there, I could see how lovingly the staff took care of my Mother and all of the other residents. The staff actively talks to the residents and encourages them to join in on all of the activities. Also, they always keep a close watch on the residents, making sure everyone stays safe, such as, when walking or sitting. In addition, they make sure everyone is always accounted for, especially when the residents transition from the activity room to the dining room and back. Throughout this COVID-19 pandemic, the Executive Staff has been encouraging family members to keep in touch with their loved ones by way of window visits, video chats, phone calls, or emails and greeting cards which are personally read to the residents. This wonderful, excellent, and loving Chestnut Knoll Team is an extension of our hands to take care of our dear Mother. May God Bless them abundantly for all of their hard work to keep our precious family members lovingly cared for and safe. With Deep Gratitude, Denise G. and Donna D.

My father is at Chestnut Knoll Personal Care and Memory Care. They're great. We've checked out a couple different places, and they were a cut above the rest. They're taking good care of the residents. Everything is perfect. The staff is very friendly, very professional, and very accommodating. His room is very nice. The entire facility is so nice, like a hotel, and he likes it. They distribute his medication to him, and they have many different activities. They take people out on field trips, they'll visit a bar, and they have card games, happy hour once a week, Wii bowling, and a walking club. There are people around all the time. Everybody that works there knows your name and is very friendly. The food is really good, and he likes it. He gets 3 meals a day, snacks, plus there's a refrigerator he can go and help himself. We ate there too, and it was good and healthy food. It's expensive, but it's worth the money, and he's happy there.

Two years ago I had to make the very difficult decision of moving my grandmother into an assisted care facility. She had lived at her home for 60+ years and after my grandfather’s passing I knew she could no longer live there all alone. A family relative had mentioned Chestnut Knoll and I’m so thankful they did. I was so lucky my grandmother got to be part of the Chestnut Knoll family for the past two years. I never had to worry if she was being taken care of. There were lots of activities for her to do. Bingo was her favorite! She also enjoyed the food there. Always looked forward to the yummy ice cream and desserts =) They also had great bus trips for the residents. Getting to go with my grandmother to Longwood Gardens is a wonderful memory I will always remember! We enjoyed it so much. I’m so thankful for ALL the staff there. They had been nothing but welcoming from the first day I walked through the door and I had always been greeted with smiling, friendly faces. If I ever had a question about anything or just needed someone to talk to, the staff was always there for me. Chestnut Knoll had truly become like a second home for me over the past two years and I will miss the staff greatly! Thank You Chestnut Knoll!

February 17, 2020 My father was diagnosed with late-onset Alzheimer's. It became clear after a few months that I could not provide the care that he needed. I could not be there 24 hours a day, nor did I have the medical knowledge or patience that is so necessary. He would no longer be safe at home. I was fortunate to find Chestnut Knoll. I confess that I looked at other facilities, but on balance Chestnut Knoll seemed to be the best fit and had what my Dad needed. Other facilities my have been bigger, but I knew he would never take advantage of any of those extra features. I would soon learn that the facility is only a small part of the picture. By far the most invaluable feature of Chestnut Knoll is that it is staffed by patient, knowledgeable, compassionate people. As his condition worsened, 24 hour care was required, so naturally I turned to the affiliated company Chestnut Knoll at Home. Again it was an unexpected pleasure to find a collection of dedicated folks who looked after my Dad as if he was a part of their family. As with the resident staff, each caregiver has their own style and personality, but each was conscientious and kind. He became increasingly withdrawn, but responded when the caregivers began referring to him as “Uncle Bud”. This had originally been used by only a few close nieces and nephews, but somehow it connected and he could be drawn back to a certain degree of lucidity. We could again get a glimpse of the man he once was. I will always remember one particularly bad day. I had maintained my composure just long enough to get out of my Dad's room and make it a few steps down the hall. Several of the busy Chestnut Knoll staff saw my distress and gave me the encouragement and then the space I needed to pull myself together. The staff stepped up to not just caring for the resident, but the entire family. Many times I would come home and tell my wife how happy I was to find a facility like Chestnut Knoll and an organization like Chestnut Knoll at Home. These folks allowed me to leave my Dad and sleep well knowing that he was in good hands. I don't have words to express how precious a gift that is. With utmost gratitude, I THANK YOU ALL and hope that perhaps I will be so lucky as to benefit from such compassionate care when I take my turn. With best regards, Stephen Roadcap

We transferred my mom to Chestnut Knoll from another facility after touring several facilities in the area. Chestnut Knoll was very different from all the others. Their residents do not sit alone in their rooms all day - they are encouraged to stay in the activity room where something is constantly going on. The staff was warm and welcoming, unfailingly kind and everyone knew my mother's name and were always ready with a smile. They were helpful and supportive to my sisters and I, all the way through our mother's final days in hospice. Altogether, my mother was there for 19 months and I have no doubts whatsoever that it was very best place for her. I highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for memory care for someone they love.

My dad was in the memory care facility and I am glad that he spent his last year and a half with the staff here. They treated him with love and respect and were very friendly and gracious to me. Although my dad didn't chose to participate in many activities, there were a lot of things that he could have done and quite a bit planned. I was impressed that the staff learned and used every patient's name and interacted with them constantly. I visited my dad weekly and never once saw a caregiver act improperly towards a patient.

Chestnut Knoll is an outstanding facility. The staff from top to bottom are amazing. I have two grandparents that live her and I never have to worry how they are taken care of. There is plenty of activities for them to enjoy, along with exercise programs to help keep them fit. The staff is always kind and respectful. They love the food and always seem happy and content.

A very warm and caring facility . The rooms were perfect size. Many activities available. My father looked forward to meals where he made friends with his table mates. Staff greeted him early each day for a treatment. He really enjoyed her company. Lastly I was so impressed by all the staff remembering his name. Thank you for everything!

Chestnut Knoll opened it’s doors to mom when she was still able to move around, engage in conversation, and before her disease robbed her completely. Taking advantage of the Fox exercise classes, open to the community at no cost, enabled my mom to transition into the Memory Wing quite easily. She saw familiar faces, knew the surroundings, and felt quite “at home”. The staff at Chestnut knoll, Fox Rehab, and Caring Hospice ALL embraced my mom, loved her, and extended great care to her during her 9 months of being a resident. I will miss them all, since getting to know them and consider them a part of mom’s caregiving family.

My Dad Jim 92 at the time; was in Chestnut Knoll Memory Care unit. He broke his hip in February, we didn't think he would walk again. It was very hard placing him somewhere other that home but this place is fantastic for your loved one. The staff are incredible and very kind. Dad adjusted and settled in in just a few days. They get to know your loved one and bring the very best out of them. The facility is very clean and staffed very well. We always felt welcomed when we visited him. The Fox rehab team they have is excellent and got my Dad walking again in a few months. I can't say a bad word about this place. They're very good and you can feel very comfortable having your loved one stay here for any length of time. Rooms are very good and clean. The activities are great and highly interactive. Thank you Chestnut Knoll for giving my Dad a second chance and now back at home. Best regards, Rich

I am writing to express my sincere thanks the entire staff of Chestnut Knoll for the exceptional care my mother received while a resident there. It was a very difficult decision for us to move my mother out of her home of 60 years, and we were a little concerned as to how well she would adapt. My mother was a very private person and we knew she wouldn't engage very much. However, within days, my mother was comfortable and feeling warm and welcomed by the caring staff at Chestnut Knoll. The kindness of the staff members gave my mother much to smile about . . . and everyone loved her smile! I can't thank you enough for all that was done to make my mother's stay so comfortable. As she came to her final days, the support the staff gave my family was overwhelmingly kind and understanding, and so very much appreciated. Every aspect of her health and well-being was considered, and we know that at all times she was under the best of care. Again, our wholehearted thanks for caring for my mother with such love and affection. I will look back with nothing but gratitude for all you did.

My grandfather Leo was a resident at Chestnut Knoll for 7 years. He told me on many occasions that he liked the friendly staff and got along well with other residents. The facility offers a full calendar of activities each month, both inside as well as external excursions, in which he was a social and active participant. The atmosphere inside is very tranquil, and kept immaculately. Leo was very happy and content with his life there. As the family member working with the staff, I was pleased with the level of care he received and witnessing the staff treating him very well. I am also grateful for everyone's support in a tragic and difficult transition where Leo's son, my father, passed away in 2014 and I took over the responsibility as family caregiver from literally halfway around the world. The staff was always as helpful as possible with questions, requests, concerns, and communication overall. I would choose Chestnut Knoll again if I had the chance, and recommend anyone looking for a residence to check it out.

We chose Knoll Personal Care for mother. It was smaller in size than others, and the staff was very personable. It was quaint and more family oriented. My mother loves Bridge games, and she participates in all the exercises and other therapies the contractor set up. They put a lanyard on their neck so they can hit the emergency button in case of emergencies, like when they fall and can't get up. Her unit is right across the laundry room, but they can do laundry for her. They have an open refrigerator with great snacks, where they can get food at any time of the night. They have a hair dressing facility on site, and they are at a price cheaper than I can get a haircut.

My mom has been a resident at Chestnut Knoll for almost three years, first in personal care, and for the last 14 months in their memory care unit. Prior to living at Chestnut Knoll her health had declined both physically and mentally. My husband and I knew it was no longer safe for her to live independently and visited several facilities near her home in Boyertown, Pa. Since we live in Florida, a long distance from her and can visit only infrequently, it was important that we select a place in which we could be confident of the care provided. After visiting several facilities, our top choice was Chestnut Knoll, and we are so happy that it became her home. The care provided has been excellent. Before moving to Chestnut Knoll she was a frequent visitor of the Emergency Department and admitted to the hospital on a regular basis. Hospital admissions have greatly declined under the care of Chestnut Knoll and her chronic illnesses appear to be well managed. The Fox Optimal Living Program has been a terrific asset for her and I believe has helped her to continue to maintain some physical capabilities, albeit more limited with her decline over time. The memory care unit does a wonderful job of engaging residents in activities that occur every 30 to 60 minutes. Mom is never in her room when we arrive to visit her, which is great! Although her dementia has progressed she is still able to enjoy art in the form of painting or working with clay. She seems happy, and the staff does an excellent job of engaging her! Chestnut Knoll has a very homey environment with caged birds and turtles in many locations, and welcoming outdoor seating areas, which are other things my mom has enjoyed. There are regular special events held in the memory care unit, most recently we attended a very nice mother’s day event which mom really enjoyed. I have found the staff to be very caring and great to work with long distance, we are in touch by phone or email often. They do a great job keeping me informed of any health issues that come up, or needs that arise that I can provide for long-distance. I feel mom is in great hands with her Chestnut Knoll family and greatly appreciate all they do!

The decision to place a family member in memory care is painful, difficult and comes with many emotions - anxiety, sadness, guilt. My family and I cared for my mother in her home for many years but the time came when we could not provide the proper personal care. The responsibility to continue a good quality of life for our mother caused much stress to all of us. After visiting numerous memory care facilities, I decided on Chestnut Knoll for my mother who suffered from Alzheimer’s. She lived at Chestnut Knoll for a little less than a year. Considering my mother’s disease and how it progressed, The Chestnut Knoll team provided excellent care and a good quality of life for her. She had opportunities at Chestnut Knoll that she did not have being at home. My mother participated in Fox Rehab services, many activities and had opportunity to socialize with other residents. She also enjoyed the live entertainment provided monthly. Chestnut Knoll facility is modern, well laid-out, in a quiet corner of Boyertown. The facility offers a nice, warm and comfortable living environment. The memory care unit is secure but does provide opportunities for residents to enjoy the outdoors in the patio or garden areas. The staff is well-trained. The caretakers are friendly and full of compassion and support for the residents. The staff encouraged my mother to be as independent as possible when that was an option, especially in regards to participating in activities. I visited often and was kept informed with all aspects of my mother’s care. I enjoyed interacting with the residents and staff as they all became part of my family. Also, I was impressed that the administration and nursing staff was so active in providing direct services to residents. They know the residents well and treat them like family. The entire staff was very loving and supportive with my mother up to her final days when we brought hospice care in for her. This allowed us to care for her in a comfortable setting instead of moving her to a different facility. I would recommend Chestnut Knoll Memory Care to anyone who has a family member with dementia, Alzheimer’s or any memory care needs. Thank you Chestnut Knoll for loving my mother. Fondly, Nancy

My Dad, Jack was only a resident of Chestnut Knoll Memory Care for 6 months before his passing but when my brother and I had visited endless other facilities we were relieved to come to Stacy and find Chestnut Knoll. It's the "Home" feeling Chestnut Knoll exudes that we knew we found Dad's next home. The staff was always wonderful to Dad and myself as a visitor and I was always kept informed of Dad's daily changes. The facility is clean and friendly and I'm glad and relieved Dad (Jack) spent his last 6 months loved and cared by Chestnut Knoll. Thank you Chestnut Knoll for taking caring of my Dad during a time I couldn't.

I went to Chestnut Knoll and was very impressed with it. I thought it was very nice, but I also realized that it was not what I wanted for my wife and myself at this time. The rooms were very nice, private, clean, and well kept. I was impressed with the facilities, and the services that they provide. There was a group that was crafting and some other groups that were watching TV. They had a happy hour while we were there in the afternoon, which I was surprised to see, but it was very nice.

Years ago, when my wife and I applied for long-term care insurance, we were told that the average stay in assisted-living was two to three years. My father was a guest at Chestnut Knoll, Boyertown, PA, for eight (8) years. I would submit that his longevity at Chestnut Knoll was due to the care he received there. The facility is modern, well laid-out, in a quiet corner of Boyertown. There is a TV area, a library, a dining / activity room and plenty of visitor parking. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served in a professional manner, with guests having choices from a daily menu. The staff is first-rate. Not only well-trained, the caretakers are friendly and full of empathy for the guests. The admin staff makes check-in / check-out easy. Billing is efficient, using the opportunity to mail monthly activity calendars along with the invoices. There are numerous outdoor activities to choose from. They range from traveling to baseball games to listening to concerts on the lawn to judging in the annual car show. Indoor activities include exercise classes, mind-expanding games, birthday parties and musical events. Chestnut Knoll truly deserves its Caring Star for 2016.

The staff at Chestnut Knoll Assisted Living was very helpful, honest, and friendly, and offered me free lunch. I liked the layout and the decor. The calendar on the bulletin board had a lot of activities. The grounds were very nice and very well kept. The dining area was very nice and clean.

Chestnut Knoll became my Mother's home in 2008 after I and my husband could no longer care for her in our home. Her memory was failing and she needed assistance with everyday personal care. The management staff eased our apprehension about placing Mom in assisted living. The facility itself is beautifully designed and well maintained. Any given day that I walked into the building it was clean, sanitary and welcoming. The daily agenda for the staff working with the residents in the Memory Care unit is upbeat, joyful and engaging. My Mom "Bubba", after some adjusting to her new home, was happy and spirited with all the caregivers and we knew we had made the right decision to place her in this, her temporary home before she moved into her permanent home in eternity. Her caregivers were truly caring, helpful, pleasant and loving to my Mom. I know what a difficult job it is to care for people with dementia and I can never thank those enough who touched my Mother daily with nothing but love in their hearts. When it came time to engage the services of hospice the nursing staff was most helpful in making the arrangements and the caregivers worked well with coordinating Mom's around the clock care. Throughout Mom's entire journey through her terrible progression of dementia Chestnut Knoll personnel kept me informed as to what Mom was experiencing and what to expect. I am forever grateful for these professionals and how they loved my Mom through her sunset days until January of this year when she left to go home with her Lord Jesus. Thank you Chestnut Knoll family!

I like Chestnut Knoll Personal Care and Memory Care because they have a rehab program, which will benefit my mom greatly. I have not heard any complaints from Mom about the food. For the most part, most of the staff is very good. The younger members are not quite as good, but they try. The facility is very clean and doesn't have a smell.

Chestnut Knoll was also very nice. The staff was great. The woman, who took us around, was very knowledgeable, helpful, and pleasant. The rooms seemed clean, and the staff seemed to be doing their job.

Chestnut Knoll was very warm, and welcoming. It had a very home-like feel to it. The dining-activity area was very nice. They had it beautifully decorated for the holiday. The people seemed very happy, and very pleasant. There were bright rooms. They were small, but comfortable. The staff was very pleasant. I think it would be a very pleasant place for my father.

Chestnut Knoll was good. I had a tour of the secured Alzheimer’s wing; which was where my mom would have been placed. The staff seemed very friendly. The staff I met gave me a tour. She was very informative. She checked back with me once or twice to see how thing were going.

I liked the very homey feeling of Chestnut Knoll. I thought the staff was superb. It was clean, and it has no odor. My husband lived there for two months.

The decision to place a family member in memory care is painful and difficult and we were filled with anxiety. Chestnut Knoll made the transition less so. We visited our mother every day and never had a moment of doubt that she was in the most loving and caring environment. The staff was so supportive and helpful to us as well as mom, even after she passed away. I still visit the staff and patients because they became part of our family. I cannot say enough about our experience and how wonderful they were to mom.

Our Mother was at Chestnut Knoll in Memory Care for the last three years. During her stay the staff was caring and got to know her likes as well as her idiosyncrasies. As her health declined, her care team was vigilant for signs of physical problems. When Hospice care was called for, the coordination of the Chestnut Knoll and the Caring Hospice teams was seamless and reassuring.

When my brother and I first came to Chestnut Knoll Memory Care to speak with the staff there about our parents, we were planning ahead for the time when we knew, inevitably, they would not be safe in their own home without 24/7 supervision. Both suffered from differing stages of progressing dementia. We tried various levels of in-home care, up to and including round-the-clock. The care-givers all did their best and were very compassionate, but due to my parents’ worsening conditions, they did not understand why all these “strangers” needed to be there in their home when, in their opinions, they didn’t need any help whatsoever. Watching them both trying to just get up and down stairs safely, and (somewhat stubbornly) dealing with the confusion of daily living, paying bills, etc., my brother and I both knew it would be just a matter of time. Since both of our locations and working schedules at the time precluded either of us from “moving in”, it became clearer to us what we needed to do, while still trying to honor our parents’ desires to remain in their home “for as long as possible”. Fast forward – following a number of falls suffered by both inside and outside of their home, including a hospitalization for hip surgery for our mother, we knew (even if they did not understand) that we had arrived at a decision point. We prayed we had not waited too long. Thank goodness for Stacy and Jennelle and all the staff at Chestnut Knoll, who through their professional expertise, background, and compassion knew exactly how to help us in our time of urgent need. From day one, my parents were made to feel like they were entering a new family, including a 66th wedding anniversary celebration at Chestnut Knoll less than a month after they had arrived. They are both gone now, and we are extremely grateful to Chestnut Knoll Memory Care and Fox Rehab Services for helping them, and our family, through their final months by providing the best possible quality of life.

Everything is excellent at Chestnut Knoll, and it’s so much better than the place she was before, like 10x better. They have three dining rooms, they are smaller than the usual one, but they are all really nice. The rooms are perfect, and the bathrooms are of the right size, plus they provide the furniture. They have planned activities all day long.

I visited Chestnut Knoll, and it was very nice. In fact, it has one of the best reputations in the Knoll area. The staff was very nice. The rooms were really nice, and they had three or four different kinds.

Chestnut Knoll Assisted Living was my first choice. It was really nice. They had a separate area for Alzheimer’s and dementia residents. The rooms were really nice. It was clean, and they had birds in cages. Everybody was friendly, and the residents seemed very happy. It was a beautiful place. The lady who gave us the tour was very pleasant, very nice, and very informative. They had a really big dining room, and it looked like a restaurant. It was really nice. I saw their calendar of events, and they had things going on all day long like bingo, movie nights, dancing, and exercises. They had a courtyard that was really nicely landscaped.

My relative is in Chestnut Knoll, and it's close to where she was. The staff was friendly and helpful. She is in a shared room. The food is good, and the dining room is nice. It's fairly clean. I would like a better communication with them regarding her health. They have music, social, crafts, and exercise. She has been there for almost a year.
Provider Response
Thank you for taking the time to review Chestnut Knoll and giving us a 5-Star review! However, we are always looking for ways to improve and your comments about cleanliness and communication open that opportunity. Our goal is to be “eat off the floor” clean and to have our communication be “just right” for each family. Please feel free to speak to Shawn or Jodie if we can improve our service to you or your loved one at any time.

My parents lived together at Chestnut Knoll. Even though my mother had dementia, my parents were able to stay together until the end which was very important because they would not tolerate being separated from each other after 70 years of marriage. The staff is the best of have seen anywhere, and as a nurse I have been in many other facilities. They are always patient, caring and truly concerned for the residents well being. There have a great therapy program. After my mother died, we expected my Dad to "give up". Through the love and concern of his Chestnut Knoll family he adjusted much better then the family ever expected. my parents did not get too involved with the activities (by choice) but staff always informed them of what was going on. They were allowed to have their cat there which meant a lot to them. my father recently passed, but family was with him and he was under the care of hospice. I would recommend Chestnut Knoll to any family who needs to have their loved one in a safe protected environment.

In late December, 2014 my sister, who has advanced dementia as well as other serious health issues, had to be relocated at the request of the facility where she had lived for over two years. Fortunately, I was able to connect with Jodie at Chestnut Knoll. Within a matter of a day or two, Jodie arranged for Joan to be evaluated, transferred, and admitted. She brought calm and direction to all facets of the process including the transfer of medical and prescription records. I met with the new primary care physician who examined Joan on the day she was admitted. Most importantly, Joan was given exceptional attention and consideration from a most caring staff to make her feel comfortable and welcome. After Joan had settled in for a few weeks, I wrote the following note: " I stopped in to see Joan yesterday; she seemed to be doing very well. My take is she is more aware, involved, and overall in better surroundings. Chestnut Knoll has created an environment much more open and positive than any other facility I have seen. I am very thankful to you for easing and coordinating the process of getting Joan to Chestnut Knoll. I believe Joan is happy and in the care of exceptional professionals. My sincere thanks to the entire staff." As Joans condition continued to decline, the staff recommended she be evaluated for Hospice. She was accepted and now benefits from the care given by both Chestnut Knoll and Hospice. While being responsible for a loved one in these circumstances is stressful, I have found that having the support from people who are dedicated and competent helps so very much. I highly recommend Chestnut Knoll for your loved one.

I would recommend Chestnut Knoll to anyone. Our Dad, Pop-Pop, and Pop-Pop-Pop, was a resident at Chestnut Knoll for almost 5 years. It was his choice to move there, but the family agreed. What we saw was a clean, odor-free facility. What we felt was a sense of family. The staff treated Dad and the others as family. Any question or concern we had was addressed. The administrators doors were always open. A new physical therapy program was started and Dad loved it because Medicare would only allow PT for a short time and after he was forced to stop, he would decline. He thrived with the new program with Fox. Chestnut Knoll welcomes the whole family, from children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and grand-dogs, too, to visit and take part in their celebrations. As Dad neared death, we saw the love the staff had for him. We saw it in their eyes, we heard it in their words, and felt it in their actions toward Dad and us. We were never sorry our Dad spent the last years at Chestnut Knoll. It was home for Dad and we were comfortable in visiting him at his home.

Chestnut Knoll provided care for my grandmother for over seven years and I could not have entrusted anyone more. They were consistently attentive and because Chestnut Knoll is not too big, they were able to learn her habits very quickly. Most importantly, she was extremely happy. In addition, she loved the staff, participated in many activities and fostered great relationships with the other residents. I am confident the last seven years of her life would not have been as fulfilled if she would have been home alone and did not have the great residents and staff of Chestnut Knoll.

I found Chestnut Knoll through Caring.com. It seems a very nice facility for my husband. It is actually only about 10 minutes from my home. All the amenities that we need are all there and they are very good. It would have been really convenient for me to put my husband there, unfortunately the cost of the facility was a little bit more than I could manage.
