My husband moved to Brookstone Alzheimer's Special Care Center. It was newer. It was bright. It was clean. It was local, which I liked. The staff was excellent. The food is not too bad. This place, it's got a real vegetable. Everything's not pureed. They have good meals. The food tastes good. They have a whole wall calendar of stuff. Every single day they have things. I see people participating in several things. I'm looking at other places that are $15,000 a month, I think this one's pretty good.

Brookstone Alzheimer's Special Care Center seemed very large, and it seemed that the residents there were very physically compromised. The employees that I dealt with during my tour were fine. They had a courtyard, a TV room, a dining area, and a salon.

Brookstone Alzheimer's Special Care Center was nice, and the tour went well. They had movie nights and popcorn for the residents. They had a hair salon. The dining room was clean and fine. I saw a room, a double room, and a suite. The rooms were clean, but not big. The suites were good sized. The staff all seemed very friendly and dedicated to their jobs.

My husband was at Brookstone Alzheimer's Special Care Center. I love that he had a good roommate and they're very careful about pairing people. They've also had a very good ratio of men to women, it's almost half and half, which is kind of unusual. The community relations person was really good. The staff helped him with showering, bathing, meals, and activities. I've seen that they had a barber shop, a shower room, there's a TV room where they have the meals, and there's a general area where everyone is gathering. I thought the value for money was pretty good.

Brookstone Alzheimer's Special Care Center was kind of dated. It felt like I was walking into the 1950s. The decor that they do is from the period of the residents living there, so some of it was intentional, but the building structure itself, like the wallpaper, and everything just felt dated. They were very open, very friendly, and they showed us the entire facility. The staff who showed me around was really sweet. They seem to care about their patients. They did have a small little courtyard, and it was really cute. They had a couple of reading areas and TV areas. If I had anything to say about them that I didn't like, it would be the living quarters or the individual rooms. They were smaller, and they seemed to share. I just don't think it was a good fit for what my father-in-law is going to need. I don't think it's the best facility. It's kind of in-between the nursing home and assisted living.

My mother moved into Brookstone Alzheimer's Special Care Center. When we went there we found the staff extremely attentive, extremely caring, and very patient. Their facility was very clean. I thought it was a new facility when we first toured it because it was so clean and so well kept. We appreciated the procedures they had. They seemed to be very logical and very efficient. We had lunch on our visit. We've been there a couple of times during the lunch period to see what meals they were serving, and we were impressed. I was appreciative of how quickly they responded to the coronavirus situation by locking the facility down. They initially requested that people limit their visits, and also have them do a bit of a decontamination procedure when they arrived. Not long after that they simply told people that they would not allow them to come into the facility because of the chance of spreading the virus.

Residents are truly cared for and about. Staff stops to talk with a resident or just to touch them in passing. The staff is diligent in seeing that each resident's needs are met. This includes, nutrition, bathing, comfort measures and social activities. My husband has lived at Brookstone for 6 months. He was transferred from another facility where the care was very bad. What a difference at Brookstone! Staff is compassionate, friendly and knowledgeable about dementia issues. And they make themselves available when I have questions or concerns. Rooms are of ample size but residents spend most of their waking hours in the common area where they can socialize and be observed. I would recommend Brookstone as the best place in Salem for someone with dementia.

Brookstone was very nice. They have a center fountain that's very soothing and they had music playing. It was just a nice, healthy, pleasant, and relaxing environment, and the residents didn't look like they were overly medicated. Instead, they were socializing. Everything was above average and the place was impeccable and top of the line.

Brookstone Alzheimer's Special Care Center is spacious, clean, and in good repair. The staff all seem to have a good attitude and are happy to help my parents out. I haven't had any negative experiences with them at all. They have all kinds of things like puzzles, games, sing-alongs, and pretty much anything somebody wants to do, but they aren't real social so they don't do much. They just sit and read or stare out the window. One of the reasons why I put them there is they have a full-time, actual trained chef. My folks are real picky about their food. I have their calendar of activities and it looks like there is lots for them to do.

My husband has been at Brookstone for the past four months. I am very impressed with the quality of care he has received. Their staff has been very compassionate and supportive. I have watched over and over as they have helped residents feel cared about and loved. Everyone works together to create a homelike atmosphere. I feel very fortunate to have found Brookstone.

The staff at Brookstone is caring, friendly, and helpful. They have a nice room. Food smells really good. A family member is a resident there. They need more staff there, though.

Brookstone is wonderful! I never worry that my parents are not being cared for. Both my parents are at Brookstone. The staff are always on top of everything and keep us well informed of any problems. They take exceptional care of them. They were recommended by the State Nursing Home Ombudsman as the best place in Salem. Very true!

I chose Brookstone for my husband. The administrator was very helpful and gave me good information. It was very nice. They had a process where they took the patient's life history and they would build that into different things so the person would feel at home. The room was nice. The place itself was warm and inviting. It felt very comfortable. It had different levels, so you could be in an earlier stage or you could be all the way up to end of life.

If you are looking for a memory care facility, you should consider Brookstone. They are a long-established, full-service facility with a professional and caring staff. There is a comfortable feeling of home, and the resident's family is welcome at any time. I know when I leave at the end of the day, my husband is being well taken care of and is safe which gives me peace of mind.

This facility is better than 90% of what we toured when we were looking. It is relatively new with nice decore and cheery common areas. The staff are very compassionate and treat the residents, no matter their condition, with dignity and respect. They provide lots of activities and a daily schedule for residents. They pursue activites that get the residents perhaps remembering about their own lives- cooking, gardening, sewing, folding clothes, exercise, dance, music, mens group. Lots of groups come in to visit: church groups, musical, children and scout groups, pets come too. The facility also does outside excursions and short day trips in their van.Mom feels safe and happy there. It is now her home.Sometimes management staff has been difficult to get issues resolved. We have had better luck with the middle and care giver staff. Issues have been: roommate problems (too aggressive), missing clothing items, food has not always been the greatest- but now is pretty good.Years ago (70s) I worked in nursing homes and this facility is head and shoulders above what we provided in those days. A much better sense of the patient as an individual.
