We toured Mirabella Portland, it has a range of care. So you can get independent living, assisted living, skilled nursing, and memory care. It's pretty much top of the line from what I could tell, it's a very good place. But it also costs half a million dollars to get in, so there's a difference with other places. You can do anything you want to your apartment, the building's in very good shape. The people are more sophisticated and more educated, and it's just a different kind of atmosphere. The person who gave the tour was wonderful. The food is not the best but it's good. They have amenities like a therapeutic pool, they have a beauty salon, they have all kinds of activities like movies, they take people on busses to symphonies and shopping trips to the grocery store. There are just lots of choices.

I was only able to visit Mirabella Portland. I have someone live in Mirabella Portland. They're fabulous. It's pretty exclusive; it's pretty luxurious. It's probably more than my parents were willing to spend. They have four restaurants in that complex, and they have concierge service. You have to come in and check in. It's pretty security defined, you have to have an appointment and what-not. The accommodations are really lovely. They will make accommodations for guests that end up needing to eventually have like a wheelchair or a walker. They will retrofit the complex for you, so that's really nice. For my friend's parents, that's really what they were looking for. They have plenty of activities that they can do, and they're pretty sophisticated. It's both independent, and assisted living as well. You can move into that assisted living situation. It's all contained within the same building, so that's pretty nice. Most of the staff that I met were very helpful. I didn't interact with too many of them, but the ones that I did meet seemed very kind. They have dining services. The food was excellent, and service was really good. They were very attentive to dietary needs. The gal that I was visiting had some very specific dietary needs, and they were very attentive to that. They got everything, e.g., yoga studio, library that's gigantic, and a swimming pool.
