My grandmother has been at Marquis Newberg for quite some time. Any time I visited her there, I could see how much the staff cared for her and how much she cared for them. Everyone knows everyone's name and even though they are always busy, they have a smile for you. It is tough not being able to go in and hug her right now but I know that they are keeping her safe. They are always willing to assist with Facetime so we can stay in touch and see each other. They are setting up personal "window visits" to be able to meet outside behind a screen and am looking forward to doing that soon. Several times when visiting, I have had meals there and have nothing to complain about there (nor does my grandmother). I hear their hair dresser is coming back in and that certainly made my grandmother excited! Thank you to everyone at Marquis for doing such an amazing job. Since I cannot be there, I am glad it is you stepping in to be her surrogate family.

My father was placed there by the hospital and was put on hospice. They would not let hospice in to check in or care for him. The let me and my sister spend an entire day with him. The entire time we were there, they did not give him pain meds, move him or really check on him. He was not awake and could not say if he was in pain. Finally after about 6 hours, we requested that he be given pain meds. His hospice worker changed the medication orders, faxed it as I was on the phone. I left around 430pm, called at 9 pm only to discover that they had not given him any pain meds since 2:30 because according to the nurse “he didn’t appear in pain”. He was dying and did not even follow the pain medication schedule that hospice had put in place. He passed away less than 30 hours later, had I known that he would be handled like that, I would never have let him go there.

I stayed at Marquis last year after my knee replacement and I have to say that the staff there is wonderful. The therapy team was so great and I would go back in a heartbeat if I needed to in the future. I was lucky to have a private room and that helped with the noise that comes with places like this.

We visited Marquis Newberg, its newer construction and kind of built like a townhouse layout. They had single and double rooms. They have a very good exercise and rehab community at that place. But the cost was pretty high. The marketing lady that we met there was fine, she took us around and showed us what was going on. They had better dining facilities than my parent's current community. They have movie nights with popcorn, they have miniature races in the hallways; it was kind of a fun place. The staff was very nice and she answered all our questions. The cleanliness and the layout of the community was very good.

Marquis Newberg is a fairly new building. It's lovely, it's clean as you walk in, and it doesn't smell. The person during the tour was wonderful and helpful. If we couldn't get in to the other place, my friend was going to go there.

My friend is in Marquis Newberg. The experience is wonderful. It is excellent. They are caring. They are there all the time. The room is well put together so her mother can go to the bathroom. The whole family is very pleased with it. I sample the food and it is excellent. They have activities, but she does not go out of her room other than to exercise.
