I have been a resident of the Rogue Valley Manor for the past six years. RVM, located in Medford, Oregon, is either the largest of one of the largest CCRCs (Continuing Care Retirement Community) in the western US. While residents have come from many venues (over 100 from Hawaii alone), we moved from just miles away in Ashland, Oregon. Given that the move to a retirement community is quite likely the last one you’ll ever do, it is not a decision to make lightly. We did our research and determined that this close-to-home location was perfect for us. It exhibits Pacific Northwest scenery and sensibilities, California weather, and world-class theater in Ashland. Over the past six years, we have made dozens of good friends and hundreds of pleasant acquaintances. We were nurtured through the pandemic with doorstep dining deliveries. And with 27 holes of golf on our square mile property, I’m better leaving my seventies than I was entering them. The Administration at RVM not only listens to residents, we are engaged as partners in evolving new resources and activities around our campus. Our resident organization oversees well over 100 distinct clubs, sports, games, and hobbies – and is always ready to add more. This works well because residents like my wife and myself, are anxious to volunteer and serve others. I’d love to give more than five stars.

My husband stayed in Rogue Valley Manor for rehab. It was a very nice facility. It was homey. The staff was very caring and attentive. They offered everything. They had a social director come around and ask about his interests and kind of interview him as to what he would be interested in. They would bring ice cream carts around make sundaes and give ice cream to the residents. They did a lot when he was up there. He did quite a bit. They had a rec room where they could just go and relax, and view the scenery because it's way up on a hill and they can see out over the valley. It had puzzles out for the people. They had a little plant cart there with plants growing in it for those who wanted to do that sort of thing. The dining area was very nice and the food was very good quality.

I toured Rogue Valley Manor. We like it, but it's very pricey. These individual independent living ones are separate. It's not like you got a next-door neighbor, you're all independent, and you're separate from the other buildings, which is nice. It's real private. It's my very favorite one, but you have to have a lot of money to get in there. The staff is super fine. They dress up in suits and dresses, really neat. Rogue Valley Manor has three different dining options, and they have three different menus, which is just pretty cool. You can even eat three different kinds of food throughout the day and have whatever you want, like a restaurant. You have to have a chunk of money down, like 250 grand. They put if off to the side for you, which you cannot touch. They take out your rent every month with that. If you run out of money, if something should happen while you're living there, they will keep you there at their cost for as long as you live. I think it is a triple A-plus mark for them that they don't have to get rid of you. They say that if you run out of money because of an inconvenience and it hurts you, you're a guest until they bury you, so to speak. That was the only one I heard about around here that would take care of you like that. But that is a quarter of a million that stays in the bank. And I could tell from the tour that each of those couples that were in there, they had the money. It is like a little town, that's how large it is, and it's just a lovely layout. The dining room is impeccable, you can eat off the floor. The rooms here are bigger than in the other ones I saw. For every person that comes in there, they want to know, "Do you want this repainted? Do you want it redecorated?" I think that's pretty neat. The rooms look almost brand new because of that. I saw the buses they had outside, just for taking the folks out to the park and that type of thing. Everything looks spotless there, and they had a bulletin with the things that they do and they have on a daily basis. They keep them pretty busy in nice weather. They had a pool table. I like to play pool, and that would appeal to me. And they've got a place where they can play a little golf.

I’ve lived at Rogue Valley Manor for over five years. Like most folks who move here, we and the rest of our family felt that we were too young to make the move. Boy, were we wrong. Now we have the time to do all of the things that we want and don’t have to be concerned about what we will have for dinner, maintaining our front garden, changing a lightbulb, or wondering about our house when we travel. There are groups and activities to participate in if that’s what makes you happy or you can spend your time not doing anything if that’s what retirement looks like for you. Believe me, this is not your average retirement community. There are folks from 62 to 104 and some of the centenarians are very active as well. We’ve made and developed so many friendships here and we really can’t imagine living anywhere else. Most of all we know that if the time comes when we can’t live independently, continuing care is available right here on our campus. It was a good choice for us…no, it was a great choice.

My wife and I moved into a cottage at Rogue Valley Manor just about a year ago from NorCal. This is one of the best decisions that we have made. We researched and visited multiple CCRCs on the West Coast and found RVM best suited to our needs. This is a vibrant, active and supportive community. There are over 100 activities that one can get involved in. Over 11% of the residents are from Hawaii and that says something! The staff are super friendly and helpful. Hoping for more vegetarian dining options over time. There are multiple floor plans for apartments and cottages, ranging from 400 sq.ft. to 3000 sq.ft. The grounds are immaculately landscaped and it's like resort living. My advise to prospective residents is always to come visit, get a tour and speak to as many residents as possible!

It is a great place to live and has good services and activities. It is one of the few retirement homes with continuing care. However, since the covid pandemic its food service has become poor. The Skyline Plaza is supposed (did have) to serve lunch and dinner for all residents. But instead it now serves only dinner in a "fine restaurant" setting that seats only 75 patrons/day. The Plaza has some 90 residents and many more live in the nearby cottages. Reservations are hard to get. The menu changes weekly to discourage residents from coming to the restaurant more than once a week. Despite many complaints about the food service, management has yet to respond.

My parent's moved to RVM in the 90's. At that time I would have rated this facility a 5 star. Today 2/3 star. My father passed in 2016, & I feel he received great care. Over the last few years, service quality seems to have gone way down. Often, I do not get a return phone call, after I have left several messages. My mother is in Residential Home Care, & while the staff who attend to her seems to be friendly & attentive, (those who bring her meals, medication etc.) it is the administrative staff who make the decisions regarding her care, that fail to call family back.

We moved in 2019 looking forward to joining this wonderful community. After moving in we enjoyed meeting the wonderful residents, but within eight months we discovered that the RVM is located in a geographical “basin”, that not only collects smoke from local fires but, because of the jet stream, collects smoke all the way from Canada, Colorado and Northern California. In 2021 the fire season began in May through to October. With the little air flow in Medford, the smoke sits as an inversion layer for weeks on end. This was extremely concerning for me because I have asthma and because smoke particulate is so small, even masks did little to help. The air quality, according to IQ air, a worldwide air quality site, varied from unhealthy for sensitive groups to hazardous. The only respite we had was when we could escape to the coast to find fresh air, but even that was difficult because of the many people from the basin who filled the limited hotels to a sold-out capacity. There is no accommodation at Rogue Valley Manor for leaving due to health reasons, so we lost over 200K of our hard-earned retirement money in less than 24 months.

I toured the Rogue Valley Manor. It was very open and airy. I like the fact there was plenty of room to walk around and enjoy yourself. The people were really nice. They answered all my questions, and they were not really pushy (which I appreciated). They have great food. It looked like a great place to live. The staff were very friendly and open. It was very nice, clean, and well taken care of.

We've been in Rogue Valley Manor for four years now. It's a large community and there are 900-plus residents here, so there are a lot of people to pick from to be friends or to have time with. The apartments are very nice, but we're in a house, and it is very nice because the woman that was here before had put about $30,000 in it and remodeled it. The surroundings are beautiful and well manicured. There are a lot of gardeners taking care of the grounds. It's very nice, and the location is good. You can't walk to the store because there are a lot of hills, unless the bus takes you down to shop, which they do, but in Covid-19, nobody's doing anything. You have to pay to have your things delivered to the main office if you don't drive. We're in independent living, but they have everything here. They have nursing care and memory care. It's a CCRC.

Rogue Valley Manor was fabulous, but they have a buy in. It's a beautiful place, and they have great cottages, apartments, restaurants, food, and staff. The food was fabulous. They have independent, assisted living, and memory care facilities. The staff was great, very helpful, and very friendly. The building was superb.

Rogue Valley Manor was beautiful. You can start out as independent in a standalone home or you can be in a high-rise apartment. It’s excellent, very clean, beautiful, and very high class. The staff was very helpful, very knowledgeable, and well trained. They had gardens you could work in and several restaurants. They were playing volleyball in this beautiful swimming pool that had no smell of chlorine; it had evaporated sea salt, which was absolutely necessary. If it were in a different location, perhaps we would be serious about it, but it was just too far from where we needed to be.

I toured Rogue Valley Manor. I like that it is a continuing care facility. Whatever care that you need, they have it. They even have a physician on duty, and full-time nursing care. They have all kinds of programs for seniors. They just have about everything the seniors want. We had a meal there, and the food was very good. The staff who accommodated us were very thorough, helpful, and polite. They were able to answer any questions we had. Overall, it’s a really nice place.

I really liked Rogue Valley Manor, but I couldn't afford it. It's wonderful, elegant, and the food was good. Every room had a view, because it's a skyrise apartment building. However, there wasn't much variety of rooms, unlike other places. You set them up for yourself when you go in, and it's not affordable for me. I can't come up with the money to do the remodeling that is required. I was able to try the food, and it was wonderful. They have a chef that uses local vegetables. They have a variety of activities, like you can imagine. They've got a swimming pool, bocce ball, and bowling onsite.

Rogue Valley Manor has a very good program. It has lovely grounds and was just upscale -- everything. I really had the desire to do this, but you leave nothing for your heirs when you go into the Rogue Valley Manor. It is all about you, and I think you are just giving it away to someone you don't know. The staff was so cooperative and helpful.

I had the opportunity to stay at Rogue Valley Manor for two days. I had a one bedroom with a kitchenette. They do have different activities like line dancing, exercises like stretch and tone, water volleyball, and aquatic exercises. They do have many clubs and activities offered. They have gourmet food. It was very fresh, healthy, attractive, and well prepared. The staff was accommodating, friendly, warm, and gracious. They are also efficient and effective. The place has a lot of grass, beautiful trees, and flowers all around. They have roadways as well as hiking trails. They have everything from a houses down to studios.

My problem with Rogue Valley Manor is they were too large, and I felt they were very much an institution. I felt that the residents there would have no control and no influence over decisions made there. The other thing is they had all these activities and fancy facilities, and no one was using them. We were there for three days. I saw some men in the swimming pool, that's it. They had a woodshop, a crafts room, and physical therapy rooms. No one was there. They have all these facilities that they spend people's money on, but they didn't seem to be well-used. Right now, there are over a thousand residents there, way too many in my mind for a personal touch. One of the pluses was they had three different dining rooms, so you had a choice. It seemed to be clean. The accommodations we were given were very comfortable.

Rogue Valley manor is a beautiful place and very clean. The rooms were fairly of good size and each have a view of the city. The dining area is beautiful. There were a lot of activities for the people.

This facility is incredible! The Manor is very large, I'm not certain exactly how many acres but certainly over 500. There's three different several-story buildings on top of a big hill overlooking the Rogue Valley, and many individual cottage homes scattered about the hill's sides. There is a golf course adjoining the Manor, and a seperate one adjacent to it as well. My friend Doug lives in a cottage, and he and his wife Sharon love it. The Manor provided many upgrades when they moved in, and now his cottage is nicer (and newer) then my house! Doug and Sharon are always encouraging me to move up to Southern Oregon so we can be neighbors again, but my children are too far South to make such a move worth it. That being said, after several visits with my friends, I can't honestly think of a better place to retire on the West Coast. Perhaps when I'm older...

The Manor was wonderful! The staff, the environment, everything was great. I loved what I seen, had it been within our budget I would have moved my mom in without a second thought and me along with her. The Manor is a lovely place. I was very impressed! It has its own clinic and doctor on staff full time!

This place is wonderful and up to date. The facilities are modern and provide an array of different living situations, medical care and places to occupy the residents' time, from a golf course to a gym. The living situation has different stages. Residents usually start out in their own house on the property. Once their physical state worsens, they are moved up to different care levels in the manor. They'll be taken care of until they die. For a retirement community, it's an upbeat place and most people seem to really prize the friendships they have made there.

The rogue valley manor of southern Oregon, is located on top a hill with beautiful views in each direction. There are two golf courses each on a side east, and west at the base of the hill. There is a quiet neighborhood leading up to the manor. Residents live in a variety of situations ranging from independent homes, condominiums, and assisted living. There are multiple facilities and activities available to residents, the time I spent in the manor was in observing with physical therapists in the outpatient clinic. The Occupational, and Physical therapists that provide service are employed through Consonus Healthcare systems. The therapists were extremely professional, and provided exceptional care. The therapy facilities were clean, organized and had state of the art equipment, including a Hydro Works Therapy pool, that offered patients a underwater treadmill.I meet many residents that all spoke highly of the level of care, services, and activities that the rogue valley manor provided. I would recommend the facilities to a family member in a heartbeat.

The Rogue Valley Manor is a beautiful establishment. I was amazed by how professional the health care staff was, being friendly and dressed well. I felt that there was an ambiance which created an "at home feel". That was extremely comforting to me. I accompanied a friend of mine who was visiting a family friend that was staying at the Manor. Her room was beautiful and had an amazing view that overlooked the Valley. There was lots of space and the furnishings were great. It was quiet, peaceful, and clean. Another amenity I was impressed by was the gym facilities offered to guests. It also looked like it was staffed with someone to help guests with physical activities. I did not feel overwhelmed or uncomfortable at the Manor, which I think some assisted living places can cause discomfort in visitors. I know I will recommend the Rogue valley manor to anyone who is looking for a place to home and assist a loved one. Overall a great experience!

My grandmother lives at Rogue Valley Manor and I've spent many weeks there with her. She loves the place-- its a gorgeous campus of small one story houses surrounding a central building which holds smaller apartments and assisted living spaces. Her small house gives her the space and independence she needs, and the ability to entertain and host her visiting family, but with the added benefit of a constant staff maintaining her front yard, emergency phones and call buttons spread across the house, and the security of an enclosed living community. The central building and its free brunches and social activities give her the opportunity to meet new people, and make old friends out of them. The staff is incredibly patient and friendly, and share their guests' enthusiasm when guests come to visit, and their grief when a friend passes on. The reason I love Rogue Valley Manor and trust it with my dear grandmother, is that it has never seemed like a place people go to and wait to die, its a place teeming with life, deep peace, and a warm quietness that wraps itself around me every time I visit.
