Over the last few months of visiting my family member I have grown more disgusted with this facility. The food that is being served to the residents is barely edible. The staff is non existent. You can never find a CNA on the floor to save a residents life. My family member sat in their own facies for almost an hour. This seems to be a common occurrence. Call lights are on for 30+ minutes just waiting for a CNA to come find out what is needed. A couple of different times while I was at the vending machines I noticed CNA's going into an office and closing the door. I just assumed it was a nurses office until another resident told me it was actually the maintenance office. I have come to realize why it is now so difficult to find a CNA. They are busy spending their time with this maintenance man rather that actually helping the residents with their needs. The maintenance man seems awful friendly, maybe even to friendly at times, with the CNA's as well as with some of the residents. I do not know exactly what is going on but one can only assume what is happening behind closed locked doors between this man and the young ladies. For future residents and resident family members if you can't find your CNA go knock on the the closed maintenance door as this is where you will most likely find her. As far as the maintenance of the building goes. The sinks have brown water coming out of them and the beds seems to not always go up or down. Maybe if the maintenance man spent more time actually maintaining the building rather than spending his time entertaining the young ladies the building would be running better. The staff needs to be there to work and take care of the residents rather than socializing with each other. The best part of the facility is the activities lady Laura. She is the sweetest and kindest person. This place really needs to get it together before a resident really gets hurt or is seriously neglected. It does appear that the new guy Don may be making some positive changes. I guess only time will tell.

If you are planning on placing a loved one in this facility. SHAME ON YOU! This place is probably the most unprofessional facility I’ve ever seen. The kitchen staff brought me food I’m allergic to a incredible 13 times in the four weeks I’ve been here in spite of the allergen warnings printed on the ticket. If they can’t pay attention to that detail, you have to ask yourself who else and what else is being ignored or missed? The food here is worse than what you get in jail. If you want your loved one to feel like a dog that’s chained up and forgotten, this is the place for you. The CNA’s are union and they act as such. Not all of them to be fair, but a vast majority. Never have I heard more griping, complaining, and passing the buck all within earshot of the residents that are stuck here than I have here. 9 times out of 10 they are not to be found. I’ve seen several call lights blinking for a half hour or more several times. Then when they finally do answer. Some of them tell you they need to get something and will be right back and that’s the last you’ll see of them. That brings me to the nurses. They are about the only bright spot to this place. They are very professional and are over worked and overwhelmed. Mostly because they are picking up the CNA’s slack. If these people were under my charge, they would be out of a job. Do your research. There has got to be better places with better quality care than this.

The only reason this review is not a 1 star is that some of the staff at Hearthstone do really care, and do their best to take care of their patients. I'm a service connected disabled Veteran and was at this facility for over 3 weeks post reconstructive surgery. The food was poor. The building itself really needs to just be torn down. I had an ant infestation in my room, and sleep was very, very difficult to come by in a 2 person room. Again, some of the staff are there for the right reasons, others are there because... I don't know really... They had no business being there. For instance I had a CNA put a thermometer in my mouth with NO PROTECTIVE COVERING ON IT. I gagged and nearly vomited I was so disgusted. I personally would NOT RECOMMEND this facility to anyone who has other options. I would not want my grandmother to live out her time on earth in such a delapated run-down facility, with only a hand-full of real professionals there to administer quality care.

AWFUL, from my mom falling out of bed just after leg amputation, didnt change bandage left it wet until my sister made them change it almost 2hours after shower, diabetics Out of Control. Yesterday and today her sugar was at 48 again my sister demanded them to go check in on her and call her back, now her sugar is at 57. they are going to kill my mom and this is the best place in the Rogue Valley? Nursed dropped a pill the other day and basically said oh well and never looked for it. One reason is because she gave her all her pills at once (my mom's hands are already shaky) and he had No idea which pill fell.

I came across with Hearthstone Nursing & Rehabilitation Center when my Dad had to go for rehabilitation. About the working attitude of the staff on a scale of 1 to 10, it is about a 4. The way they treated their visitors was fine. There were a lot of nice people there. The place was sometimes clean. The family went and had Thanksgiving with my Dad. I didn't care for the food, but he likes it. They have a lot of different activities, but my Dad doesn't like to participate. My main complaint with them is the timeliness of the way they take care of people when they ring their bell. That is horrific at times because he has to call me, and I have to call the facility to have somebody get there or I would probably be down there in a minute. People could be in need of medical assistance. My Dad one night was having trouble breathing. I sat there before and waited 40 minutes for them to come. I have encountered it many times. I see it happening to others. He has three roommates and they do it to all of them. They do come when I call them, but that is about the only time they do. The place is still better than the one he was before, but it does not mean it's good.

My mother has been in this facility for a week. She broke her tailbone and fractured her pelvis. The first day she arrived she was put in a room and waited with my sister for three hours before some one came in to meet her. The toilet she shares with four other people is broken. She needs to take a shower. Her hair has not been washed for over a week. Because she's slow to get up and down the nurses or CNA just lifts her from the bed and plops her in the wheel chair because she doesn't have the time to wait for her. She was taking cumdin (blood thinner) so when she's lifted like that she gets Hugh brushes. After she's put into the chair she's left there bare footed with nothing to raise her feet up. As a result her feet are ice cold, swollen and purple. To help keep her blood pressure up she is suppose to wear support hose every day. They put them on her once and when they took them off they have never put them back on. I was in her room for two hours. My sister had to put her socks on. Room bells and bells indicating that someone need to be helped off the pot rand non stop. I was told that each CNA had seven patients she was responsible for. Looking at what they do it dosent seem that they manage their time well. I find it hard to believe that I am the first person to write a review, because I can't believe that the care for others in the facility is any better.
