We toured Brookdale McMinnville City Center. It was very clean and very nice. It was just that one problem: I'm not sure if my mom would like to have someone in the room with her on certain days, so I think it would be better if she were alone. It's nothing against the facility. It's with the situation that we have. The physical appearance was very nice. The staff were very nice and very accommodating. I don't remember their names, but they were very nice. The only problem we had was they only have two people per unit and that was not going to work for us.

We moved to Brookdale McMinnville Town Center. I love it; it’s just so nice. The staff was wonderful and very helpful. We have a 670 sq. ft. room, and it is perfect. I just love it. It's absolutely gorgeous, and it's nice and warm.

We really felt welcomed when we first went to Wynwood, and they have been very, very helpful, helping us get everything done for my mother-in-law to be able to move in there. It is a smaller place; it may not be as big as some of the newer ones, but it is a very homey and comfortable feeling and I think it would be a good fit for her. The last time that we were over there, some of the residents were actually baking with someone helping them, and at another time, they were listening to a radio program. They have tables around where they can work on puzzles and they have sitting areas where they can sit together, and they do. They did have a lot of good things going, and every week they take a country drive if any of the residents would want to go. They also plan special events every once in a while -- like go out to lunch or stuff like that -- that the residents are able to sign up for. Their memory care part is kind of small and it is understandable because they don't have many people there, but it would be nicer if the outdoor area had some greenery to it, like maybe some grass and a little more outside scenery.

We put my mom in the memory care at the Wynwood for probably a month and a half now. What I like about this facility is that every person there is genuinely loving and caring and it is a clean facility. No bad smells when you go in. The quality of the food is excellent. The people are friendly and efficient. They are very loving and caring people. Her room is very nice, adequate, and comfortable. They do a lot of hands on activities and they have physicians come in. They also go out riding in the country once a week. They have Bible study and they also got out for dinner or lunch or shopping; and a lot more than that.

Winwood, McMinnville Oregon:Overall, excellent. Most outstanding was the staff. Wonderful people - skilled, caring, professional (underpaid, overworked). The facility was very nice, well maintained, clean. Food was excellent. Truly caring people. Some are still friends.Unfortunately, late stage Parkinson's get's you put in with the Alzheimer's patients. An interesting group of people, but living behind locked doors and needing help any time you move can be frustrating. Being the only one without Alzheimer's makes it... well you don't fit in, but you don't want to! Again, the staff was awesome. The only complaints were involving the medical side of treatment. It was a real mixed bag. Sometime excellent (especially the VA), other MD's, cursory to down-right sloppy. Too many Doctor's just throw a different pill without any checking (Don't bother reading the patient's history, don't read ALL the effects and contradictions of the drugs, don't check drug interactions, don't follow ramp times on starting/stopping meds, ignore a balanced treatment from Parkinson's specialists). The trouble comes when the staff is obligated to follow the Doctor's orders (ANY doctor), even if they know they are wrong. There were some interesting moments... The staff were heroic, and quick to intervene / question on behalf of the patients. The RN on staff at Winwood was a champion!I don't think a better facility could be found at any price. Yes, the price was breathtaking, but comparatively reasonable. The level of care was superb. The people, awesome! If I had to be in a nursing facility, it would be here.

My husband's father moved into Wynwood a couple years ago. We were very happy with the care he got there. The attendants were kind to the residents and that was important to us. They tried to really get to know each resident and learn about their interests and life. Families were invited to come to the dining room to join their family member for a special dinner once a month. This helped us to get to know the other residents and staff. I would recommend Wynwood as a good assisted living facility.

I was very pleased with Wynwood after my mother's stay there. The staff were always happy to help me with anything, whether for my mother's comfort of my own. Overall, the staff were well-educated and seemed very experienced with taking care of the patients there. My mother never complained about any of the care she received, and in fact had glowing things to say about her nurse, Susan. The facility itself was also well-maintained, with beautiful grounds (especially for an assisted-living facility). The interior of the facility was a tad old, but nothing was in disrepair. There was a minimal amount of dust but nothing terrible. I would definitely recommend Wynwood to other people seeking care for their parents or whoever. The folks at Wynwood were kind and ready to help my mother in any way. The only thing that I wish would change would be the cost of living. It seemed expensive, although most of the facilities nearby were charging equivalent amounts.
