I am a resident currently getting treatments for multiple wounds. What GSMC Unit C could not do in a year, Regency Hermiston Nursing staff has been able to do in a matter of weeks. My wounds are healing and I am feeling better. The nursing staff is very competent and wonderful. Special thanks to the wound treatment nurse, Irma. I am very happy with the nursing and therapy department. I am so glad I came here, highly recommend this facility to all the community. All the staff has been exceptionally attentive to me and my needs.

The rooms are antequated at best. The food looks deplorable. The RN was trying to be helpful, but ignoring any requests from patients. Med’s are never dispursed on any Dr. schedule, only on a whim. Most of the CNA’s look disuffled and look like they can’t wait to get off work, with that attitude. The physical therapists act like they know and like their work. If you absolutely must put your loved one there, plan on staying with them 24/7. Bring their foods, beverages, snacks, clean ice, clean clothes.

My mother was in this facility for 3 days and I don't believe that she would have lived through 1 more day. They are totally understaffed. She went in for rehab on a broken hip. She was unable to get up to use the bathroom and had to wear an adult diaper-- when we asked them to change her, we were told several times "we are just too busy right now". By the second day , Mom was going downhill fast- I BEGGED them to help her but I was told "her vitals are fine". On the third day, she was unable to even drink out of a straw-- at dinner time, they brought her a pork chop and walked out of the room. That night she was taken to the hospital, where the nurses in the er were even appalled at the condition she was in and they even used the word "neglect ". When my sister and I went to get Mom's things (because there was NO WAYthat we were going to let her go back there) I witnessed a man laying on the bare linoleum floor while they changed his bedding! I could not have imagined how horrible this place is.

This place is terrible. My grandmother who has dementia, recently fell and broke her hip and was sent to this place. She has repeatedly been given food that she is allergic to even though the notes are very clear in all of her files/charts and posted in her room. She has not been given back her laundry in a timely manner causing her to have to wear dirty clothes as well as she has a colostomy bag due to stomach cancer and they are not checking it and cleaning it often enough and she has been soaking wet from overflow whenever my mother goes into to check on her. She has been there almost two months and my mother has spoken to staff numerous times and the care does not get any better - do not trust your loved ones to be cared for properly a this facility.

My mother was a re-hab patient there. The care was substandard and CNA's routinely handled her care in less than appropriate manners. She was supposed to be 'non weight bearing' on one leg, third day there I came in to find two CNA's trying to make her WALK to the bathroom! This was but one of several instances, of highly questionable treatment. There seemed to be little cooperative communication between the therapy department and the nursing staff. "Care instructions" from Therapists and doctors were supposed to be regularly updated, and were not.

Regency Hermiston is a nice place. I have my own private room. The staff is nice. They don’t rush me. I do what I want on my own. They let me do my own showers. They let me do whatever I want by myself. When I was in another facility, I didn’t get that. The only reason I want to go back to assisted living is that I can get therapy at the hospital. Here at the nursing home, I can’t use therapy. My legs are too weak to use the equipment, and I need therapy bad. So I’m just here. I’m not doing anything, so there’s no reason for me to be here at the nursing home. The state won’t pay for therapy as long as I’m in a nursing home. They do housework every day, so the place is clean. My room is clean, nice, quiet, and it’s not crowded.

Regency of Hermiston is the only facility in town which offered full nursing care. The place was fine. Their staff was good and I like their physical therapy. The rooms were spacious and the food was good. I would recommend this facility to others.
