My relative has moved into Somerset Lodge, and everything's great. It was probably the friendliest, most active community that we visited. The room that she chose faces a green space, so it has a patio and you feel like you're in the country instead of in the city, which was a big deal. The staff members are just super friendly and accommodating. One of the big things that she liked was they make homemade bread for their main meal every day, which is a big deal for her. There is a group that plays Pinnacle.

I like Somerset Lodge. Everybody that I talked to said it's like family. They invited me to lunch, and lunch was good. The people were wonderful. Everybody was wonderful. The person that took me around was great. She spent a lot of time with me. It's a beautiful location. They have big green areas for walking. It is very high on my list, but I'm not sure if I can afford it in a year. Maybe it will be a little too expensive for me. The food was very good. I was sitting with three very nice ladies. This lady who took me around gave me lots of time, and she was a star. They have just decorated for Christmas. The residents decorated it and they did an unbelievable job.

We have chosen Somerset Lodge for Dad because it was more cost effective. He likes the Somerset Lodge. It's a beautiful setting with trees and a beautiful park area. It's closer to where I live. It's smaller, cozier, and the environment is really welcoming. The price was very reasonable, too. They had ice cream and coffee always available. My dad likes little things like that. He likes that he can get coffee and soft serve ice cream any time. The ice cream was good, but we did not have a meal. He likes how the food is part of the rent, while at the other place it was not. The staff who assisted me was really helpful and very friendly. A lot of people have dogs there, and my dad got a little dog. They help each other out, like if my dad had a doctor's appointment or if he was in a hospital, they would take care of the dogs, including the person who gave us the tour. She showed us pictures of her dog. Another thing I like about the place is that they have couples that are resident managers, so for 24 hours somebody is there. Even though it's not assisted living, they have somebody there. That was another perk he liked about them. This is under the umbrella of Hawthorn Senior Living, and if my dad likes to visit my sister in Arizona -- there was another facility owned by them -- he could stay there for like a week and not have to get a motel or hotel. He can stay at that facility and have all his meals provided. Somerset Lodge was definitely very clean, which is always important. I liked how it was homey with the decorations. It felt like a very welcoming, warm environment. The ambiance of the place is, there are lots of light coming in, and it just has a real homey feel to it. It was very nice.

I moved into Somerset Lodge. It is a nice place and very comfortable. It's owned by the Seventh Day Adventist. So you get turkey ham, turkey sausage, turkey bacon, and stuff like that. You don't get shrimp. However they eat, that's the way we eat, but we don't go hungry. We can do whatever we want to do. I have a car, so if I have to go someplace, I can go. They take us places if we want to go, like to the store. We've got some good staff people here, and no problems with them. Sometimes I like the food, sometimes not, because they have all different kinds of it. But most of the time I like it. The rooms are all good. We got sprinkler and alarm systems in all of the rooms. Mine is a studio, so it's not really big. But you get your three meals a day. They clean the room every week and clean your shower. We have showers which I like. They are glass doors. The layout of the community is big. It's like a hundred and twenty rooms with two or three floors. They have stuff going on every day here. They have exercise. They have a TV room where they show movies every day. We have a bus, and every Friday they go someplace. And a couple of times a week, they go out for breakfast or lunch. From what I understand from other ones, the other places are more expensive than this place.

Went and had a great meal with my Aunt. The food was delicious and the service was spectacular. Even the managers serve in the dining room. Spectacular doesn't even begin to describe my experience.

Somerset Lodge has been great! We agreed as a family to have my sister live here. She loves it and all the other residents as well. All the employees, from the great management teams to the housekeepers and kitchen staff are friendly and seem to really enjoy their jobs. Everyone wants to help and they do what's best for the residents. Going on trips with the bus driver is also a fun thing to do. My sisters apartment is very nice and the views are outstanding. Anyone would be lucky to live here!

We ended up putting my mother-in-law at Somerset Lodge Gracious Retirement Living. It is very pretty. The land that it is on is very pretty, and you can see Mount Hood from there. The facility itself is very clean. It is brand new and the rooms are good size. I really like the fact that there are two sets of managers - two sets of husband and wife. They live in the building, so there is always somebody there. They’re really nice. The dining room is set up beautiful. They have fresh baked bread and cookies everyday. They have cookies and coffee out everyday. That’s really nice. The atmosphere is very nice. They have activities too. The only suggestion would be, when someone new comes in, it would be nice if they have a service where the some of the residents or maybe one of the managers would go up and invite them down at dinner or lunch and sit with them. It has been a little hard of an adjustment for my mother-in-law; she doesn’t feel comfortable just walking upto a table and sitting down for a meal.
