My wife was at Hillside Heights Rehab Center in Eugene. It's an older facility, but it's well-maintained. The staff was very good and very attentive. She got physical therapy there. They had a common area with recreations and provided meals 3 times a day. She got anything she needed medically like CPAP, nebulizers, and all medications were well taken care of and well-managed. The staff was pretty attentive. They checked on her quite regularly and always asked if there was anything she needed and if there was anything they could do to help. They had gatherings, played bingo, and had various types of entertainment and stuff that people could attend if they wished. There's an outdoor area too if they wish to go out and enjoy some fresh air. The food left a little to be desired.

I lucked out and had a window bed with a bird feeder outside, which my family filled with sunflower seeds. Lots of Blue Jays and little Chickadees. The nursing staff was kind and helpful and the food was decent. I had a lot of help from the PT folks and returned home able to know how to get around.

My husband was under their hospice care, and they were very supportive and helpful to our family. He had a very good relationship with their staff, and they kept us up with all his media cal condition. I very much recommend this rehabilitation center. Thanks for all your caring, blessings

The staff was very good, but the building hasn’t been renovated since the day it was built. I don’t know what year it was built, but they have not modernized the facility and the bathroom was not renovated or adjusted for people with disabilities. My mother doesn’t have a specific disability, but she is elderly. The bathroom is so terrible that when I bent my head down to get something out of her suitcase, I almost knocked my head coming back up because it was so poorly designed. The closets are not good for people who are older. The owners have not put any money back into the building, but luckily they have really caring, good staff. It wasn’t clean because the carpet was old and looked dirty, and my mom is very particular with cleanliness. There wasn’t enough social activity for her and there were a variety of people there with a variety of difficulties. Their location is excellent, the grounds outside are lovely, but inside they need to modernize and update.

My mother was transported from a hospital to Hillside to try to get her back on her feet again after a bout with gall stones. Sadly she continued to "go down hill" until her death a month later from a stroke. The area in which she was staying had all private rooms, furnished as bedrooms which was a real comfort to Mom and me.The nursing care was well staffed, incredibly well trained, and very compassionate. I only had a problem with one nurse and I never saw him again. We never had to wait for assistance when I "pushed the button". The director and the head of nursing were easily available. Since I had never been through this experience before, I had lots of questions. They and the staff answered them all and never once made me feel I was bothering them. As Mom reached her final days, Signature Hospice was called in. They had all worked together countless times and it really showed. I couldn't have asked for more excellent and compassionate care for Mom. They were also wonderfully caring to me. At the end, everything for Mom and our family was done seamlessly and with much patience and support. I have referred them at every opportunity.

My Aunt lived in this facility and I visited her often. It wasn't a fancy looking facility but I was impressed with the care they gave my Aunt. My Aunt was not easy to care for due to her many physical and emotional problems but the staff was always patient and understanding with her even when she was in her most difficult moods. We had to move my Aunt to this facility after her husband died and we could no longer find good caregivers to help her in her home. It was a hard thing for my Aunt to leave the home she'd lived in so long but the staff at the facility made her feel so welcome and cared about that she settled in very quickly! I was amazed at how fast she felt at home and that was due directly to staff and the care they gave her. On my visits to my Aunt the room was always clean as was my Aunt. Staff was always quick to answer the call bell unless there was an emergency going on that demanded their attention. Since my Aunt was in a wheelchair and did not feel comfortable going out in public I didn't think she'd take part in any of the recreation opportunities this facility offered but to my surprise the second year she was there she went to the county fair with them! She told me she had a huge hamburger and it was a lot of fun! I was so happy she had gone and enjoyed herself, although she never went on another outing like that she took part in many of the other activities they had. There were a few times towards the end of my Aunts life, that she had a negative experience like when a new staff member tried to transfer on their own and my Aunt ended up on the floor. Physically she wasn't harmed and the staff member was taken through training again. But the emotional harm had been done and she didn't trust many people after that, especially new people. The facility had people she trusted working with her after that which I was happy to see as it eased my Aunts anxiety a bit. There was another aide that didn't understand my Aunt and was very impatient with her but I didn't see that aide around the facility long. The one thing that really impressed me was there one aide that my Aunt really felt a connection to and when my Aunt was dying and we couldn't be there this aide stayed with her after her work shift was over. She put up pictures of my Aunts daughters and her one Grandson, she stood up my Aunts favorite stuffed animals all around the bed and this aide stayed with my Aunt. The aide sang my Aunts favorite songs and talked to her. While I wasn't there for my Aunts actual passing I am sure she felt love and comfort around her thanks to this special aide at the facility she was in. While not one of the fancier buildings this facility makes up for that with caring and loving staff!
