My husband received excellent care while at Avamere Riverpark. We were fortunate to have a private room and that contributed to our satisfaction. However, the major strengths of this facility are the genuine caring employers that help the residents feel secure and well provided for. They create a friendly, uplifting, family atmosphere that motivates the patient to work hard to get better. The physical and occupational therapists are excellent and brought my husband from an almost zombie-like state to being able to come home. The food is tasty and ample. The menu changes frequently. Activities are available and many feature musical performances that are very enjoyable. The CNAs do the brunt of the hard work and are amazingly positive in spite of being very overworked. Some staff members have been there a very long time and contribute greatly to the positive atmosphere and sense of family. They make a point of knowing each resident and his or her family members. When we left facility the feeling was bittersweet since we had made many new friends and had such good experiences.

This facility has lost its way badly. The internet has been a problem for years, now it barely works at all. If you have a game system it blocks it from the internet. The staff has to stay late or just not chart on the patient because it is so bad. Now the nursing is terrible here a few are holding this place together and get no appreciation for the hard work, while the rest are calling out not or doing the care needed to patient. The rooms are filthy and the family/smoking area is a dump food all over the ground, tables dirty, the housekeeping have no leadership and no drive to work. Now I have a pressure that got so bad bone was exposed, from the staff not informing me on the regression. Now I am trying to heal one extra wound. I hope your loved one get the care they need.

This place is an absolute nightmare. My aunt was on hospice, actively passing from a grueling 6 week battle with cancer. We had to ask them constantly for her pain meds, as they were suppose to be given every 30 minutes. She waited up to 2 hours for a dose while suffering. (I will credit two amazing nurses, I do not remember their names but they know who they are.) After my family had sat next to her bedside TOGETHER for over 8 hours, we separated to go to bed and returned the next morning. We were then greeted by the director of nurses who immediately asked us who we were, what we were doing and why we were there. We explained we have a family member passing and are here to say goodbye. She then insisted only 2 people could be with my aunt and we had to all leave. Making us decide between sons, nieces, grandkids, twin sister, etc.. who gets to sit with her during her last breath. Limiting our time to say goodbye. She was in a room, at the end of the hallway, ALONE. We had all been in there together for hours and were masked, but suddenly she changed her mind and kicked us out. Causing such a scene my aunt was left alone for 20 minutes while we begged her to allow us all to stay. She showed zero remorse and refused to allow us back into her room. Disgusting, unforgivable, and when she loses a loved on I pray she doesn’t have to choose TWO people to say goodbye.

Rooms not well kept Staff doesn’t make eye contact and when you get their attention they pass you on because that not their duty Nurse not really up on a patients diet or really cares Social worker has an office but has you talk right outside her office in the hall in front of a resident You order from the Bistro and your food is served a paper towel from a tool out like you would find in a bathroom. No napkins No small paper plate The tabletop maintenance was a bit to be desired. They wet a cloth and washed the table cloth then swiped the tv channel changer then wiped over the chairs and then when on to next table with no rinsing

There will always be good & bad said about ever rehab. My wife had gone to a coma and was taken to Riverbend Hospital. After getting better she was transferred here. After being dropped off at front station. Every employee there did not want to sign her in. They said why do I have to sign in the new patient? My wife said what room number I will take myself. Once in room in there was no state requirements done ie, TB SHOT ETC. The only thing that was a paper stating how much my insurance will cover and they needed a payment on the balance. The 2 nurses that came in later that night were pretty good and I give those 2 a good job but only those 2. My wife had all her meds changed so when she was asked if she was in pain she said yes but she would live. So another pill given. In 2 days my wife was in coma when I came in. I asked what was happened? That she is over drugged and I want her back to hospital. They said she was just being lazy and they will call the Dr. in a couple of days. I blew it, and I demanded her taken to ER. WHEN SHE GOT THERE DR. SAID SHE WAS OVERDOSED, kidney failure and would have been dead in 20 min had she not come in. Avamere Riverpark made my wife go through h...

I am a friend of someone placed for rehab at this facility. They are feeding everyone canned food. No nutritionally value, folks can never get better. He was fed a hot dog and almost choked but no one was there to help...thank goodness his wife was. A friend witnessed another woman unable to chew her stroganoff but no one cared if she ate or not...no one monitoring the dining room. Since being there he has had a mild stroke, a urinary infection and now infection in his lungs. I think this is a terrible place to send a loved one. They need a nutritionist and someone to monitor patients who cares!!!

My Mother has been cared for in Avamere Riverpark on 3 different occasions for broken bones due to falling. She is about to go back into this facility due to a broken knee during a fall. She is almost 96 years old and her mind is very sharp but unfortunately, her bones are very brittle. We have been so happy with Avamere over the years that I would not even consider letting her be cared for by a different facility. She has always received wonderful care there and the staff is always very attentive, caring and kind. She is very tiny and only weighs 80 lbs, so staff would quite often make her high protein shakes which she loved. Some of the staff would even spend their breaks in her room visiting with her. Even when things were rather hectic and very busy, she continued to get wonderful care. We are so grateful to the staff and the facility. If you hear of or read complaints about them, please know that is not our experience AT ALL!!! They deserve 5 stars!!!

my mother has been in their care since the end of MAY for a broken leg. since she has been there she has had to go to the ER twice now because of the care from this place! she has a SEVERE UTI because her catheter has not been changed for 6 WEEKS! who does that to a person? she has bleeding bed sores and now she has a bleeding ulcer. what is wrong with this place? there are no phones in the rooms and they treat their patients like they are a bother to them. if you love your family DO NOT TAKE THEM TO THIS HORRIBLE PLACE. They are going to be reported and possibly sued for the horrible care!

Absolutely, extremely unstaffed. It can take 30 minutes of longer for staff to answer call lights. One nurse is rude to residents and to other staff. You can request that this nurse check on a resident and the nurse goes home hours later, leaving the task for the next shift. Horrible food, rated F-, family member lost a lot of weight due to inedible food. Usually did not smell of urine or feces, but one evening feces soaked bedding was left if dirty linen barrels in the hallway all through dinner and foul smell poured into other rooms. Other residents are left screaming in pain for help for up to 40 minutes or more at a time and all other residents have to hear it. One resident beats on something metal for up to an hour in an attempt to get off the commode. Residents are not informed that "students" will be caring for them and they should be given the opportunity to opt out for privacy and dignity reasons. Students should have to don adult diapers and be changed by other students to learn a little humility if they want to be CNA's or nurses. My great grandmother ended up with bed sores, infected wounds and late stage pressure sore and had to go to the hospital to be treated. Residents sit in groups and complain of food and nothing is done about the bad food. When my great grandmother refused to eat the terrible food, I tasted it so I know how first hand how bad it is.

There are no stars to rate this facility. On 11/02/15 I found my father non responsive with an occupational Therapist trying to get him to dress himself. When I asked why he was in that condition, the therapist directed me to the nurse who had no idea what state my father was in. I immediately asked for Medical Attention and it took 30 MINUTES for the nurse practioner to get to my fathers room. She was very rude and asked me "what am I supposed to do for him" I demanded that my father be taken to the emergency room, where the admitting physician found him to be OVERDOSED ON OPIATE NARCOTICS - and my father has unexplained bruises - DO NOT SEND YOUR FAMILY MEMBERS THERE

The help at Avamere Riverpark would be good, but sometimes they were spread way too thin. Their staff and all the people there helped us a lot. It’s just that they needed more staff. A lot of times the patient was left alone or maybe not taken back to their room, or it took a long time when a call button is called for them to get somebody to come and help. It’s an older place, and there are a lot of people that have to be changed. Usually the smells went out into the ventilation of the rooms.

Avamere is fairly new, so it has a very nice homey atmosphere. My client has been there once before; that’s why she chose it again when she left the hospital this time. They do have longer stay facilities especially for dementia patients, and it appears very good. The people are very courteous and very kind. They have a dining room with good meals. In the longer stay facility, they have games, television, transportation for them, and that is as long as they are mentally able to direct where they want to go. She has enjoyed it; she really has because they organized a lot of different things. They have really nice sing alongs, and they get together for the holidays. From what I have seen in visiting there, I would say it probably stands out above some of the other places we looked at. I just assume they take wonderful care of her while she is there, and hopefully if they put her in to the longer stay area, she should be happy. If not then we will continue to look, but I was very pleased with the place.
