Whether we are singing to favorite tunes, reading (or creating) a story or the news, giggling to funny jokes, making cupcakes or doing some chores, there is quite a bit of joy to be made each day.  Here's how families can help us connect to their loved ones favorite past times and memories.  Sharing copies of photographs with explanations on the back can help our caregivers connect with the residents life.  Personalizing their apartment home with decor that can help our team reflect with the resident can really make a big difference in how we make our setting the most engaging and comfortable.

Genuine relationships and healthy communication is key for for the partnership between Skylark Senior Living and the families we serve.  Besides regular service planning meetings and alerts of any concerns, families are welcome to call or email our Resident Care Coordinators with inquiries and questions.

Residents of Skylark Senior Living can enjoy seasonal favorites, freshly prepared entrees and as well as comfort classics.  Our menu rotates weekly and provides several choices to satisfy your preferences and lifestyle.

Located in the North Mountain District in Ashland, residents of Skylark are close to North Mountain Park and Nature Preserve.  Just a short hop and a skip will take residents to charming downtown Ashland and Lithia Park where shopping, cultural events and dining experiences are abundant.

Our Life Enrichment Coordinator keeps it lively at Skylark Senior Living.  Movies and documentaries, fitness classes, art projects, scenic trips, shopping and out to eat are just a few of the regular happenings.   There is no limit on the social activities with interesting people here as our residents enjoy sharing and hearing about each others legacies and history.

Please ask us for our Uniform Disclosure Statement.  While our general staffing throughout day and evening is 1:6-8, we do enhance staffing based on the changing needs of the folks we serve.

In addition to the regular and on-going education identified earlier, our memory care staff participate in additional hours each year specific to understanding dementia and cognitive loss, communication, positive behavior support and newest research relating to Alzheimers and other forms of cognitive loss.

Skylark Senior Living is not "affiliated" with a hospital but parters very closely with Asante Ashland Hospital as well as local skilled nursing facilities when additional care is needed on a short-term basis.

Skylark Senior Living is located in the North Mountain District which is home to the North Mountain Park and Nature Reserve.  While primarily residential, there is a coffee shop & cafe and other small businesses nearby.  It is also local to the Kestrel Park neighborhood and downtown Ashland is but a couple miles away.

Transportation is available on scheduled days for physician appointments, shopping, banking and scenic drives through our lovely countryside.

Pets are ever so welcome at Skylark Senior Living.  Furry friends should have a leash and be with their pet parent anytime outside of their apartment home.  We can't allow them in the dining room, of course yet other areas of the community is fine.  We always ask pet parents to be mindful and considerate of their pet's behavior as not to disrupt others.

It is important to us at Skylark Senior Living that our employees feel confident and encouraged in the important work they do each day.  In addition to the technical skills of their particular position, our teams are offered on-going education including understanding the aging process and age-related conditions, enrichment of life, communication, resident rights & protections and fire/emergency safety.  Free classes are always available through Oregon Care Partners as well.

As they say, it is the way to everyone's heart...  While we offer the traditional three meals a day like at home, we also have snacks and beverages available all the time for anytime someone is feeling a craving.  Many of our social events also include light snacks and beverages.  As often as possible, we like to have something baking to bring that sense of home and comfort.  All that said, getting adequate nutrition as eating habits/tastes change through the course of cognitive loss can be a challenge at times.  Our professional staff can create specialized considerations or processes to assure that nutritional needs are maintained.

Safety is one of the key decision making factors when residents & families are deciding where to live. Let us share some of the features of our community.  First and foremost, our Memory Care Cottages are secure with coded entry.  Our building is built to meet all necessary safety codes and regulatory requirements.  This includes fire safety systems, necessary alarms and our internal emergency call system.  There are regular inspections of these systems.  Our exit doors are secured after hours, depending on the season.  We have trained staff members on 24/7/365 to respond to concerns and emergencies.

Who assesses residents' health and cognitive functioning? How often is that assessment repeated?

Resident well-being is evaluated by our Memory Care Program Manager and Licensed Nurse before move-in and quarterly.  If there are significant changes in how a resident is feeling or responding between quarterly reviews, we will re-evaluate more swifty to update our service plan.
