My wife is in Linda Vista in Ashland. They do nursing home care and rehabilitation. The staff there seems to be knowledgeable and very helpful. There are two beds there, but she's basically by herself in there. They have all the usual things like physical therapy, and occupational therapy, and a 24/7 nurse. The meals are fine, and they show up on time. I had lunch with her on Tuesday. It's nice, comfortable, it's older, but it's nicely kept.

Linda Vista is a skilled nursing and rehab facility. They accept dementia patients but offer no specific dementia care. I've known patients there. It's one big plus is its location. It's convenient to Ashland Community Hospital, which makes it convenient for transfers and convenient for families in Ashland to visit. The facility is fairly clean, but during visits I have occasionally noticed both the smell of urine and the smell of cleaning agents. It's not large; it's on the smaller side. And it's not especially attractive. There are usually two people to a room, and the rooms are on the small side. The staff work hard. They're caring but overly busy. It can be hard to find someone when you need them. The administrators are also very busy and hard to make contact with. They also have a full rehab staff. The PTs are well trained and very busy. The food is terrible. I've known people there who refused to eat it. They had others bring them food from the outside. They don't do much in the way of activities for short-term stays. The one big negative is that it can be difficult for someone to get discharged in a timely manner. They seem to want patients to stay longer than families and professionals think is necessary.
