My husband is living now at Brookdale Stillwater. They did an evaluation of him before he came in, and once he gets acclimated, a couple of the charges might drop off. However, within a couple of weeks, they decided that he needed more care, and the charges that I thought was going to drop off actually doubled. Every couple of weeks, it seems like they're adding another $100 to $200. I like the people, the staff, and the management, but they're corporate, so they have rules, books, and guidelines. Every time they raise the price, you're not really getting value for your money. The basic is supposed to include overseeing showering whether it is setting him up or reminding him. Then they said he needs more help because he might slip, so that's another fee. I hate to have my husband re-acclimate to another community because he has gotten some friends there. The rooms are pleasant, too. You have a little kitchenette, a little living area, a bedroom, and a bathroom. However, the food has been debatable. They don't use a lot of fresh and vegetables. However, everything is nutritionally sound. Overall, I would give this place a 5. They have a nice outdoor courtyard, which is really why I picked the place in the first place. There are things that they probably should keep up with, but it doesn't affect safety. They have some exercise program, and they got a new director.

My sister will be moving into Brookdale Stillwater. We chose it because it's close to the family. The price and the people that work there are what sell it. The apartment is small but usable. The facility is very clean. The outside was wonderful. They have activities. They do laundry. They clean your room once a week.

We've been extremely impressed with the services and facility at Brookdale Stillwater. The staff has been unbelievable, and the food has been really good. My dad's only complaint is he's not a big rice fan and a lot of the meals have rice, but other than that, he's been really happy with the food. They have a courtyard where they grow tomatoes and have birdfeeders. My dad participates in exercise, bingo, and movie night.

I liked Brookdale Stillwater, it was very clean. I didn't see many staff members around when we visited, but they were very kind and helpful. I think maybe the paint colors weren't very cheery or bright. The pricing was comparable, maybe a little bit more expensive than other places, but not by much. They had a meal menu posted and it looked very nutritious and well-balanced. The place was laid out very nicely.

My mother was a resident for the last 3 1/2 years of her life and was one of Brookdale's longer-term residents. I was able to visit her 4 or 5 days each week, and observed the caring services she received around the clock each day from the associates there. She had picked this facility herself from the 3 Stillwater assisted-living facilities she visited in 2012. She felt valued and cared for and at home at Brookdate while she was there. Our experience has been that the quality of care starts with the leadership of the community, with the director and nursing staff. Qualified caring leadership does a lot to provide a stable workforce of qualified personnel around the clock that makes the community a desirable place for residents and a good place for friends and family to visit. My mother had increasing memory problems and more severe health problems the last few months of her stay at Brookdale, but we and she both desired that she be able to stay in the care of this dedicated staff through the end of her life. Our experience is that the director and nursing staff works side-by-side with patients and families to maximize the quality of her life. Nursing services are carefully evaluated and are individually selected in the plan of care to customize them for the resident, rather than just applying a set group of services to each person. Residents and families are encouraged to participate with the director and nursing staff as periodic reviews of the plan of care are made. Appropriate service charges are made and explained and discussed, and staff pays careful attention to the wishes of the resident and family. We found the process to be thorough, helpful and acceptable at every discussion. We recommend Brookdale highly and appreciate the caring atmosphere that my mother experienced every day she was living there.

My husband was at Brookdale Stillwater. They’re good people. Howeven, they’re short of employees and they did not have enough activities for their patrons. The dining area was nice, but the food was inappropriate though.

Sterling House of Stillwater was very nice. It has been well managed. The property itself was very clean and really not requiring any repairs that I could see. We did have lunch there, and the residents all seemed to be very satisfied and spoke openly within the group. They showed us three different apartments, and they were all very nice; two rooms were furnished, and the third room that someone had just moved out of. I was pleasantly surprised. They fed us the same meals that the residents were having that day, and it was very good. We spent at least an hour with the property manager, and we did see an activities calendar, which was posted in the center. I was very impressed with the service that was provided in the dining room by the staff as well as the management that we met.

My mom has been living here for a couple of years now. The staff is very friendly and helpful, they always have a smile on their faces. My mom is very happy here!! She loves the fact that all the employees interact with the residents there. There is an employees there, that has been there a few years and really helped my mom out when she first moved in. She is very compassionate and involved with the residents on a daily bases, just an over all great lady!! I would highly recommend Sterling House of Stillwater for your family/loved one!!

I toured this facility recently. We didn't end up moving my parents there because they relocated to another city with another of my siblings. However, we looked at a couple of different assisted living places in the Stillwater area. Sterling House was, by far, our first pick! The staff was very friendly and helpful. The building was pleasant and well maintained on the outside and clean, comfortable and inviting on the inside. Residents seemed happy and appeared to be cared for. We were particularly glad to see that this community has locked doors. My parents do not have memory loss to the point that they need memory care, but the comfort of knowing that they won't become confused and just walk out the door was a huge draw for us. Of course, if we wanted to take them out of the building for a while, they would be welcome to come with us. They also have a nice enclosed courtyard where residents can come and go as they please, which gives them the freedom to enjoy the nice weather without feeling like they have to be supervised. This is a great place with very helpful staff. I my parent's hadn't moved out of state, they would definitely be living there!

I have visited this community on several occaisions over the past year to visit residents. I am pleased to say that this community has been steadily improving throughout that time. I never experienced anything as negative as some of the comments on this thread speak of, but I will admit that there were issues that existed at one point. That said, I am completely pleased with the way things are now. Residents appear well taken care of. The residents and staff seem very happy! At almost any time that you walk into the community, you will see residents involved in activities in the main common areas. Their dietary department has recently received high honors from the corporate level and the food always smells so delicious! The staff seems to have a genuine concern for each resident and they are always interacting with a smile. I know there was a change in community management about a year ago and it seems like that made a big difference for the better. I would highly recommend the Sterling House of Stillwater to anyone who is looking for quality assisted living in the area.

If there had been a zero rating that is what I would have given them. My father was in sterling house for 2 months and it was a terrible experience. Not only was my father not taken care of;always wearing urine soaked clothing, never shaved, or even dressed most of the time. While he was under their care, he developed severe mouth infection, due to lack of oral care, and a rash to his peri-area that left him raw and bleeding due to lack of incontinent care. They ordered over 1200 dollars worth of meds from the wrong pharmacy and tried to make our family pay for their mistake. The cost of my father was on an ala-cart system. We paid more for them to bath him, dress him, assist him with toileting etc. None of these were done on a consistent manner. My father has been gone from Sterling House since June, and yet the Sterling House continues to bill my mother. Beware of the request that they prefer auto payment on Bills, this allowed them to take out as much as they wished without any itemized type bill. This could leave you broke. What has this lead to? Complaints to the Oklahoma Department of health, in which they were sited.

As a social worker for Good Shepherd Hospice, I have visited multiple residents at Sterling House of Stillwater, and have nothing but rave reviews for this facility. I know from going to other facilities--as well as other Assisted Living Facilities within the area--what quality embodies, and Sterling House Stillwater definately has it. The staff are caring and compassionate, putting the residents' needs and safety first, and the facility is always clean and smells fresh. The residents are treated with respect, and are talked to in a caring and interested tone, that exudes love and patience. The residents are also well-kept and cared for, which is so important with this group of society. As a professional within the healthcare industry, and from what I have experienced at Sterling House, I can say I would feel confident having a member of my family become a resident at Sterling House.

As a hospice nurse I go into numerous facilities across central Oklahoma. I throughly enjoy going into Sterling House Stillwater because it is clean, the staff are friendly, and the residents come first. The staff smile and make me feel welcome in their facility. They are caring to their residents and the residents needs are ALWAYS met and they are met in a timely manner. The facility has a nice court yard that allows the residents a safe place to be outside. Games and activities are always occurring. There are several different things for the residents to do throughout the day. As a nurse, I highly recommend this facility.

My Mother is in this facility and we are not happy with the services. They do not respect the residents and sometimes down right hateful. Perhaps if you are looking for an assisted living for your loved on, please do not pick this place. We are moving Mom.
