My dad has moved into South Pointe Rehabilitation and Care Center. It's awesome. It's clean. It's neat. The people seem to care. They took him in, and they took care of every need he had. They're there, and they're very considerate of the people, so I don't have any issues with it. They keep my dad's room clean. They mop it twice a day if it's needed. For activities, they play bingo, and they do art. They sit together in the main room, and they listen to music or watch movies or anything. My dad can come and go. He gets Doctor Pepper, which is his favorite drink. They make sure he eats, and he likes the food.

I've only visited my dad once since he moved into South Pointe Rehabilitation and Care Center and I was there for two hours. It's a big facility and I had to walk down so many hallways just to get to his room. His bed was almost on the floor. I saw nobody coming in while we were there when they're supposed to be watching him because he kind of tries to get out of bed. He was in a diaper and was sitting in a chair. He smelt like urine and there was just nobody around. No maintenance. There's not any place to even keep a bottle of water cold. He depends on them to bring it to him, and there are no phones in the room. So, he has no contact with anybody. We can't even call. I was not impressed by it at all.

Gayla Treadway Review I am the Resident Council President for South Pointe Rehab and Care Center. I have been president for a year and obtained this position by being voted in by the other residents of South Pointe. What we do in resident council is bring up problems and find solutions. An example of one of the things the Resident Council did is request vending machines for the residents. We stated our case on how many people would use them and they were put in place. It has made a significant difference in maintaining our independence. We also have a cheering section in resident council. We cheer for all the good things happening at South Pointe. As President, I lead with the philosophy that everyone needs and thrives on encouragement. I have lived at South Pointe for 6 years. I owe my life to South Pointe. When I first got there, I was dying. I have COPD and my doctor had given me two weeks to live. I knew I needed to find a nursing home because I could no longer care for myself. Because I had been so sick, I was struggling under a mound of medical bills which had drained me financially. No other places would take me because of that, however, South Pointe Rehab and Care Center found a way to make it work. By coming to South Pointe, I was able to get the medical help I needed and my health began to improve. I didn’t die, I started living again. I made a lot of friends at South Pointe. I started a coloring club. At this club we have projects and art contests. Having this creative outlet for me is a soul saver. I still deal with a lot of pain and coloring helps relieve that pain. Coloring takes me out of the pain and into concentrating on creating art. I believe life starts with having a little gratitude everyday. I enjoy the activities at South Pointe. I especially love the gospel music. South Pointe also gives us the freedom to worship how ever we want to. Our visitors are always welcome and the staff is friendly to them. I believe when God closes a door he leaves a window open. Thank you South Pointe for opening your windows and doors to me. Gayla Treadway

South Pointe Rehab and Care Center saved my life. I became scared to live alone at home. My doctor told me I had three months to live. I was afraid to be at home by myself. My mother had lived at South Pointe and had been taken good care of. I have now lived there for four years....much longer than the three months my doctor told me I had. When I came to South Pointe I was very overweight. They worked with me and helped me get my weight down to a reasonable number. My health improved. I love everything about South Pointe. I especially like my room mate. I also love that I can get on the Internet at South Pointe. South Pointe is my home and South Pointe saved my life. Barbara Hollingsworth

I am in the skilled nursing rehab unit. I am getting dialysis on-site as I gain strength and skills to go back home. The on-site dialysis is convenient and going well. I have no complaints. Harrell Cathey

I live at South Pointe Rehab and Care Center. I have lived there for three years. I love living there. I love my friends. I love the nurses. I love the nurse aides, I love the whole staff. I like singing in the resident choir. We have matching T-Shirts to wear. My favorite song we sing is, "What a Friend we have in Jesus." Mary Dickey

This place is horrible! Its dirty, smells and most staff there can care less!. Those who do care are so overworked. Try and talk to management and they just say they are sorry, but do nothing to fix it!. Most of their day is spent outside smoking. The director there is useless. This used to be a great facility about 7 years ago but has changed companies so many times.it has gone down hill bad. Do not allow your family here!

My mother went to SouthPointe in August for rehab, and she’s now in the nursing part of it to take care of mother’s needs. It’s clean and doesn’t smell. She’s in a medium-sized shared room. They have bingo, and on Wednesdays, a singer comes by. The common dining area is usually pretty crowded; she eats all of the food, so I guess she’s fine with it. Some of the people working there are great and some aren’t, but I’m satisfied.

My husband had an emergency surgery and I just got him home 2 weeks ago. He's doing well now. Our insurance company have a contract with South Park and so that's the reason why we picked this place for him after his surgery. The nurses were very competent and skilled and did a good job helping with the recovery of my husband. My husband didn't have complaints during his stay there. They have good food there too.
