Sand Sage of West Plains was nice on the inside. They had a lot of fun activities for the clients that were there, and they seemed to enjoy their time. Their staff was really kind, really friendly and professional. However, I think they probably needed a little more nursing staff. They said an RN only came in once a month. My mom had a stroke when she was there, it wasn't their fault, but if an RN had her eyes on her, they would have known what was going on. The facility was nice and clean. It was locked down, so there was not any fear of anybody just walking in. We had a nice little studio with a bedroom within the living room. It was small, but that's just how it is. The cafeteria area looked nice and clean. My mother couldn't eat something they had, so they happily made her something different. Unfortunately for us, my mom was only there a week before she had a stroke. But they had games like on a TV screen, and they were interactive. They had arts and games like Wheel of Fortune. And there was a lot of client participation. They seemed to enjoy it.

We toured the Sand Sage of West Plains. They were very nice. The person who gave us a tour her name was Madison. The facility was very clean, and I got to talk to some of the residents. The only reason I wouldn't choose that place for my mom is because it's further north. My mom has a son and a daughter who live in South Oklahoma City, and I'm afraid that if I relocate her to the north side of town, they may not come to visit as often. So that was the only hesitancy I had. The building was immaculate.

I visited the Sand Sage of West Plains. I just didn't like how small the rooms were, they were 225 square feet. The people there were all happy and had good things to say about it. They had a cafeteria and it was nice where the people ate and came together.

My mother moved into Sand Sage a month ago and we couldn't be more pleased with the transition. The staff is very friendly and attentive to her needs. She seems happy with the meals provided and finds other accommodations such as the laundry service and housekeeping very helpful. Change is difficult especially for the elderly and again, the staff is understanding and answers any questions I have in a truthful and timely manner. I highly recommend this facility.

We chose Sand Sage of West Plains because they have cottages and I wanted a cottage. I am involved in a church very actively, so that's how I spend my free time besides taking care of my husband. The staff is very nice, from the director to the housekeeper. It's always clean inside and outside. We're eating the meals and they are good. There might be times that it's not something that we're used to eating, especially with my husband, he has an intolerance to wheat and dairy, so I just ask for something else or I just modify the meal myself. Otherwise, we're doing OK. They have a barber, a nail spa, a maid service, PT, OT, and they started having a speech pathologist. The social worker has activities for us. If we choose to join whatever activities that are planned every day, it's available. Every Tuesday, they take people to Wal-Mart to shop.

We chose Sand Sage of West Plains. We find it to be very comfortable, the staff is great, the patients are great. It's the only one I've ever heard of that they talk to you no matter what. The staff is very helpful, cooperative. The food smells good. They're having some difficulty with getting our apartment ready. They provide food, they provide rides to everywhere that I need to go. They have a courtyard, dining area, living area, but no pool and gym.

When my loved one was in there for 8 1/2 months, there was many nights he told me he had fast food. He had wounds and they would not help take care of them. They got worse. They were trying to find a way to kick him and they did find a loop hole did it. He had no place to go but I did find him somewhere after he got out of hospital. They keep on raising the price and the care got worse. They didn't care about him. It was more like he was a check to them. Biggest mistake I made for my loved one. Unfortunately he passed last year after he left almost 7 months from there. I still have trouble with them to obtain medical records. They hang up on me everything I call.

I visited Emerald Square Senior Living. The rooms were all large. The staff was very knowledgeable and very concerned about your needs and wants. She was just a nice person. The dining area was huge. According to the staff I was with, they were going to update it and make it have a more homey feel to it, but it was already a nice facility. They had bingo nights and they had transportation to doctors. I saw the menu and it was a very open menu. They have the normal stuff that they prepare every day, but if the resident doesn't like what they are serving, then they can make something else.

We toured Emerald Square Senior Living. We saw two units. One was a room and the other one was an independent structure. Both of them were well-designed and roomy. There was lots of room for mobility especially when my brother is in a wheelchair. They were both very accommodating in terms of what you could put in the room like furnishings and things like that. We were particularly impressed with the house itself. It was nice, and I think my brother would like it equally as well. They had designated areas for activities, which was good. We happened to come in at a time when they were eating their lunch, and we met some of the people there. Everybody was super friendly. Everything seemed to be very welcoming and very clean. The food looked good. I liked the exercise facilities they had there. There was different available equipment. It just so happened that when we were leaving, they had some entertainment for the people that live there, which was nice. I found everybody very outgoing and welcoming as well. They are going through some renovations now, which we understand, but everything looks nice in terms of what they've accomplished so far. The people who work there were very engaging and open to answering any questions we had.

Everything about Emerald Square Senior Living was good. I think the sizes of the rooms were nice. The man that we talked to was very nice. He showed us everything we needed to know and answered all our questions. The tour was very good. They showed us their calendar of activities and the dining room. We even met the cooks. They also showed us how they would take care of the medicine and all the other things I needed to see. It was very clean and very nice.

I toured Emerald Square Senior Living. They have assisted living and independent living, too. They have cottages out in the back. I didn't try the food there, but they had the menu out. They even had a schedule of detailed events and activities that they were having going on a day. They had someone coming in to play music, and yesterday, they played bingo. Their events coordinator, her name is Katie, and she was a really sweet deal. That was good, too. They had a courtyard, which was kind of like right in the middle of it, so no one would get lost or run away. That courtyard was nice, and they have free access to it. The floor plan layout was much more conducive to my dad's ability to access the bathroom. The basic studio wasn't a good fit for my dad specifically just because the bathroom was small. You couldn't exactly put a wheelchair in there or the scooter that he has. The studio deluxe was much larger and it had a walk-in shower so he could get a chair in there. The access to it is great because it's a straight shot, and you don't have to bend around a corner. Then the one-bedroom apartment that they showed us was quite a large floor plan. I thought it was too much for my dad, and it was more than what was required of him. We were also trying to keep the costs down, so we were planning on going to the studio deluxe depending on if they take him or not. They said they're going to call us back tonight pending the evaluation of his abilities and everything. They had a salon, and they had a library. They said they switched the books in and out, they have someone come in there, and the residents can check them out. They have two courtyards. One courtyard was for smoking and the other one was non-smoking, so that was nice because my dad likes to go outside. They also have a fitness center. They don't have a whole lot of equipment, but it's enough for him because he likes dumbbells, and they have about 20 dumbbells up to 20 pounds. He can't move his legs, but he can move his arms, so he likes to do that. When you walk in there, they have this schedule of what's going on the day, the events that they've coordinated, and they even have a joke of the day on the paper, which is kind of cool. I know my dad when he reads that, he's going to have something to tell somebody else or to talk about outside the community, like when he calls me, so that's cool. The staff is great; the residents seem happy. I prefer this place because it is a better fit for my dad. What compelled my decision to go there was the floorplan layout for the bathroom.

My mother lived here. The first thing I noticed was that the atmosphere was VIBRANT---folks were still LIVING here and that showed. Many veterans live here, and all the residents were friendly and welcoming; the ladies asked me about my mom and seemed genuinely glad to welcome her to the group. The staff was overwhelmingly friendly and helpful. Stormy, the head nurse, went above and beyond to work with my mom; she was readily available when I had questions. The aides were easily available and glad to help. My mom could not dress herself, but the aides would take care to coordinate her clothes. Laundry was done regularly, and she (and her room) smelled fresh. The rooms are generously sized and open to one of two enclosed courtyards. When I ate with her, the food was well prepared and delicious. I would definitely choose Emerald Square (which was recommended by a senior living advisor when I had difficulties with OK Medicaid) again for a loved one. They offer many activities at the facility plus a van to go on shopping trips, etc.

Emerald Square is wonderful; we love it. It’s nice and roomy; it’s great food. It will take you all the way to hospice. You couldn’t ask for nicer people to work with. Even the people that live here are very congenial and very nice, and the staff is fantastic.

I visited Emerald Square and I found it to be a nice and accommodating place. I talked to the staff there. They were very nice, informative, and very personable. They provided me all the information that I needed. They had assisted living, and they had cottages. They told me all about what they provided. They had activities, like they take people out to different performances and places. From what I saw and the way they described it to me, I thought that this was a top-notch facility.

Emerald Square is a nice facility. My husband could have ended here but they don't have a lock down unit. That was primarily the reason why he didn't go there. Also it was just a feeling that they were pressuring me to get it now because the pay was half the price and I got to do it by this date. But, they're more updated and the rooms are larger and more modern than where he is now. Price is almost identical too. They told me a lot of stuff that they do in a daily basis. Every day, they have something in the morning for the morning people and also in the afternoon for the afternoon people. I didn't see anything wrong, they just need a locked down facility and that would have worked for me. It's closer to my house and it looked spotless, they never knew I was going to drop in.
