My husband is in Walnut Grove. We can't go inside because of COVID, but it looks very nice from the outside. They are allowing outside visits for 15 minutes at a time as long as you make an appointment and stay six feet away from each other. I'm gonna have my first visit soon. I have found two people that had family members that were in there that were very pleased with their care. I've heard good things. I know their ratings aren't that good, but I think people that have loved ones in there that have good things to say don't really know that they can leave ratings, so I'm gonna put it on their website that they can leave ratings, and that would be appreciated because a lot of people look at it and say the ratings aren't good, but that's not true because they get very good care. I've had too many people tell me that. Even professionals tell me that from the mental hospital he was in. I'm very pleased with the facility, and I'm very pleased that he's there. The staff is very kind and very caring. I haven't interacted with a lot of the staff, but they let me talk to him whenever I want to call, and they let him call me. They understand that he has dementia really bad, and they understand that he gets upset when it's time to get off the phone. He also gets upset because he can't come home. He's in a shared room. The activities director called me and asked me what all that he's interested in doing, and I told her he likes jigsaw puzzles, and she said she'll make sure there's one out for him. I've gone on their website and they've got pictures on their website with all the parties, and every little holiday they have a party. I think they're doing a lot with them from what I can tell. The staff is very kind.

Every time I visit I find that the bare needs are being met and nothing more. None of the CNA staff seem to be very well trained or enjoy their work. The food is of decent quality, but I would not say it is better than average. I also noticed that they have no special lift equipment available at the facility. Instead of investing in the required lift equipment, they choose to just bring extra workers in to carry the extra weight. Since entering the facility, my friend has packed on a lot of extra weight and should have mechanical assistance when standing.
