I toured Canoe Brook Assisted Living & Memory Care. The facility was adequate. The staff was sort of helpful. They were busy.

Our tour at Canoe Brook - Catoosa was kind of limited. They didn't have any available apartments, so we saw an apartment that somebody was currently living in and their rooms were very, very small. But it was a completely occupied facility. The thing that got me about that place was that the minute we walked into the building, it had a funky smell. I don't know what it was, but it just had a really strong, funky smell. They had a lot of activities, though. The staff was not very friendly. The layout was very consolidated and it was not expansive. There was not a lot of room to wander around. It didn't smell clean, and that concerned me.

My friend's grandma has her own little apartment at Canoe Brook Assisted Living-Catoosa. The staff doesn't seem to communicate with each other very well when it comes down to things, but when we get a hold of them, they are helpful. We get to see her a couple of times a week now, but the lady at the front desk said that we could only go once a week, then a nurse corrected her and said that she qualified for three visits a week and there can be two different people. Other than that, things seem to be going pretty well other than the lady at the front desk was a little rude. It looked really nice, they have a garden outside for them, and they have lesson-plan type things, so they can get everybody included. They do a lot of stuff together as a community like they would do puppets, paper mache, and bingo. They have a little outdoor place for the seniors and little places where they can look outside. The inside is gorgeous and very well-maintained.
