My cousin is in Copeland Oaks. She started in independent living, and now she's in assisted living. From everything I've seen, it's a wonderful place. They seem to take excellent care of her. Her parents were there before, and that's one reason she went there when she got older too. They seem to take very good care of the people, and she's very happy there. It seems to be very clean and well taken care of. It's in the country, which is nice. They have a lake, hiking paths, and it just seems like it's a small town. It is a very, very comfortable place. We've both had regular dinner there, and we've eaten in the cafeteria. We were always happy with the food, and my cousin seems to be happy with the selection. You can always find something that she enjoys. I thought her room was a little on the small side (at least for my wife that wouldn't have been enough). We need something bigger than what she has. They have a gift shop, and they have a place where people donate things and sell real cheap. They have an arboretum where you can grow plants. They had an art studio she took us to because she likes to paint. She mentioned they have music programs because she's into music. She thought they had excellent exercise features there. They have quite a few things. They would take the people on trips to different places. There's a Christmas place maybe 20, 30 minutes away that they take a group to every year. They take them to other activities in the area. I was very impressed with the place.

We are choosing Copeland Oaks for my dad. We liked it because it wasn't like a nursing home. It was very clean and they had the spacious rooms that we were looking for. They had a lot to offer out there. It's like a campus with many acres of land. They had a pond and stuff, and you could ride around on your scooter. Overall, it was just a nice place. The 1-bedroom apartment had a dorm-like kitchen that had a dorm-size refrigerator and a microwave. They give you one price, and that covers everything including 2 meals a day. The staff who assisted us with the tour was very knowledgeable and very friendly. She answered all of our questions.

We went to Copeland Oaks. We visited the grounds and I like that there were different levels of assisted living. There was independent living and assisted living, but there was also a step-in between independent and assisted. I thought that was wonderful for people who weren't quite ready to go to assisted living or even skilled care. There were different steps that people could take in between instead of going from completely independent living (which they do have on the grounds) and jumping to assisted and being put into a skilled care facility. They have all of that. You could graduate slowly instead of taking such a drastic step all at one time. We were very impressed with the place. It was nice and clean but unfortunately, it's a two-hour drive away from my husband and me, which was a deterring factor for putting my brother-in-law there, because we like to visit him and we like something a lot closer. We were just very impressed with the whole program that they have there.

Copeland Oaks is a very large place, so you have to be able to get around the facility and the grounds. It is a little pricey, but it offers a whole lot. The facility is very clean and very individualized. They have a lot of activities. They have a pool, an exercise room, art rooms, woodworking rooms, a library, and a chapel. They have so many different things.

Copeland Oaks Oaks is gorgeous, but it's just a little farther than I wanted to go. It's too big. I've been there to visit people, and I've gotten lost every time. It's a nice facility. They showed me their activities and all the things they do, but the room was very small. My sister would have gotten claustrophobic there. When they opened after COVID, we had to sit outside, and there's like a Plexiglas shield. They're good, and I have been there a lot. They've got their own restaurant. You don't even eat in the dining room. You can eat in the restaurant if you want to. I had the food, and it was very good. My friend is very happy there.

I'm looking forward to moving into my villa very soon. The house is the perfect size and location for me and is currently being remodeled and will be move-in ready. The staff has been very helpful and accommodating! I'm excited about this move. No more worries about maintaining a house and yard, which allows me to continue to work and be active elsewhere.

Copeland Oaks was very nice. We saw bingo, shuffleboard, and a group that was dancing. They have transportation to various spots. They have a very nice dining area, it's very tastefully decorated, and it has linen tablecloths and linen napkins. The staff was very professional and seemed to be caring. They have independent living, assisted living, and a nursing home facility. We visited the assisted living and independent living apartments. There weren't so many activities in the assisted living, but they have dining facilities there too.

Copeland Oaks would be good for a lot of people but not for my parents. The villas had basements, and we’re trying to get away from stairs. It was quirky and weird, like a little 1950s town that never changed. The staff seemed very nice and helpful. There were apartments as well. It was too remote near nothing and an hour away from me, so it wasn’t for my parents who aren’t familiar with the area, but it seemed OK. They do let you pick your own wall covering and don't have paint, which I thought was weird because wallpaper isn’t “in” anymore. It’s just not for us.

As soon as our house sells, we’ll be moving into Copeland Oaks. We’ll be going into a villa. It’s a one-thousand square-foot home. It has a finished basement, and a sun room. It’s absolutely gorgeous. It has a bathroom downstairs, and upstairs; just absolutely awesome, and I can hardly wait. Some of the things that they have in their facility are a swimming pool that they keep at 88 degrees, cards, activities, games, and wonderful people who live there. We’ve been there to take some things into the garage, and people just walking down the street have just made us want to move right now. They have bus tours, card making, and quilting; all things that Bob, and I both do. It’s just going to be a really good time for the rest of our life. I have nothing, but praise for the whole system. They’ve all been wonderful. We have gone up there, and maintenance just had to open the door for us. They are there within minutes to get the door open, so that we can go in, and put some other things in the garage. I can even imagine what it’s going to be like to live there, know that we’re going to need something, and within minutes we’re going to have it. I’m very excited.

My parents weren't happy at Copeland Oaks Retirement Community. My mother thought that they would help her if there were any health issues that came up. My father had to go to the emergency room for a hernia, and they wouldn’t even help her get a wheelchair. They told him to walk down; she was beside herself. He’s 87 and she’s 83, and they were so upset. They knew that’s not what they wanted. They were happy until that came up, which was her main purpose for going there. I thought the staff was OK. My father had a cleaning crew come once a week to do their beds. They had to go down to the cafeteria for their meals. They kept cutting back their staff and what they offered. My parents had a two-bedroom, two-bathroom, little apartment. It was nice, roomy, and looked pretty. The food was tasty and good. They had little puzzle clubs and did day trips if enough people signed up, but basically, you were on your own. They could be clearer in explaining to somebody who is 80 years old what they offer for independent and what they offer for assisted.

I liked Copeland Oaks a lot. I think the best part about it was the tiered levels. We felt that there was so much activity going on. It was very nice and very clean and, obviously when we visited, they were updating, and there was stuff going on -- construction type thing, redecorating, and that kind of thing. Everybody was very friendly. The people who lived there were all very kind, and the staff was very kind as well.

Copeland Oaks was a very beautiful place. However, it was a little bit out of our range. I didn't look at the homes or the rooms where my mom would have stayed. I actually looked at the nursing rooms, and they were actually nice. It was hard to find really nice nursing homes. So, I figure if the nursing home rooms were nice, and my mom was going into an assisted living facility so I thought it would be a lot nicer. The whole facility itself was really huge, and it was nice. Everybody that I talked to said it was fantastic. I was sure they had activities, and I thought I saw one of their buses when I was at a farmers' market a couple of weeks ago. It would have been nice if my mom had been there. I was only able to talk to a couple of people there when I was wandering around looking at things, and the people I talked to were very helpful, informative, friendly, and very nice. The community was very beautiful. It was huge and was like spread out over a lot of space. They had homes were people could start living and if they deteriorate, health wise, there were other places they could stay, or they could pretty much stay in that same area.

My mother has resided here for 6 years. She has been happy up until the past 6 months. The food which is a big part of her day has become unfit for human consumption. The residents have complained but it falls on deaf ears. You have to pay for it and now most if the people who can are fixing their own. I think this is a disgusting way to treat the elderly!!

Me and my wife visited Copeland Oaks in Sebring, and she is thinking that eventually she will have to go to an assisted living facility. She likes their assisted living quarters. It’s a nice looking place, and grounds are well kept. They have good food there. I know a couple living in the community, and the people were very friendly. We walked around and talked to them. They have various room sizes with one or two bedrooms. We had sandwiches there, and they were good. We talked to one employee there, and she was friendly and very helpful. I also get a card once in a while from them asking me to visit them again.

I'm very impressed with Copeland Oaks. It's less cookie-cutter and has a very relaxed atmosphere. It had multiple dining areas like a little bistro and also different areas where you could entertain. They also have an indoor pool. They have verandas overlooking beautiful lakes. They had two auditoriums where they bring in different speakers, and plays can go on there. It's very much like its own little community.

It's a great place for my grandparents to live. Some of the benefits: having some clean their apartment every week, someone that comes in to repair anything needed. The also offer a post office, medical center, bank and thift store. Since my grandparents were not going to be driving anymore they even have mini grocery store and gift store many residents use when the shuttle isnt running to the local walmart. During the warm months they have beautiful landscaping, a walking path around a lake and nice comfortable benches and swings to sit on. Copeland Oaks gave them the ability to make new friends again and have lunch and dinner buddies..my grandmother favorite part she doesnt have to cook anymore if she choose not to.A few months ago my grandfather passed away. They had a great medical wing when he needed it the most and they had a great support system for my grandmother when she needed it.

My Grandma moved to Copeland when she was 63 after her health deteriorated dramatically. She could still do basic things, but leaving her by herself in her old house wasn't very practical for anybody. We shopped around the various retirement communities (there are many in Canton) and settled here primarily because it struck something with her - she enjoyed the atmosphere. Personally, I felt it was a little grimier than some of the nicer ones we visited but she said she felt at home when we visited so I guess that's the most important part. She moved in during the summer of 2007 and died in 2009, during her time there I felt as if she perked up and became more like the grandma I knew as a child, which was very nice. The staff there were mostly friendly - I had a few bad experiences with the younger assistants who seemed to only be there out of necessity, but my Grandma said it didn't matter so I didn't worry too much. The facilities were well taken care of, the entire place needed a bit of a touch up with some new paint but that was then, to be honest I think the slightly older aesthetic appealed to my grandma because she felt less intimidated by the seeming 'luxury' of assisted living, and in turn less guilty. She had many good friends there and the most positive thing I can say about Copeland is that they didn't enforce any imposing rules, it was just a nice positive atmosphere.

My advice to anyone who says they are not ready to move to Copeland Oaks yet is "don't wait". My children agree that this was one of the best decisions I've made in recent years. Now, as their friends are getting emergency calls for parents who are ill or have fallen, they realize just how lucky they are. I am content knowing I am saving them the worry and trouble I had with my aging parents. We live in a lovely rural atmosphere and yet we have access to all the amenities the city offers, since we have several larger cities in driving distance.
