I chose Bickford of Middletown for my wife because I think it was just the personality of the place. The people seemed very nice and caring. The service has been excellent, the food is good. They allow my wife to have her pet, our dog. That was one of the things that she had to have was a place for a dog. It's sort of out in the country. It's nice and quiet, and she's very relaxed there. They have puzzles, they play cards, and they get together and just chat. She's only been there a little bit, and so far there's a group of people that have animals, a couple of dogs that get together, and they let the dogs sort of introduce themselves and have a good time. The staff has been excellent. One of the things we liked, it wasn't as high as some of them when it comes to payment.

We toured Bickford of Middletown. I think the community room was okay. There was one room they took us into, it was like a dining room like a family was coming in for a birthday or something. The staff did her job, but it was very seemingly unorganized.

Bickford of Middletown was excellent. I was very impressed with them. It's clean, very homey, and very nicely decorated. It looked like the residents were well cared for. It smelled clean. I didn't get the urine smell that you sometimes get in some places. It was very nice, a very impressive place with beautiful furnishing, and very open. The doors were locked of course. By open, it wasn't small dark hallways or anything like that. It was very, very attractive. The staff who gave the tour was the marketing director there. She was very nice and very helpful. She gave me some good advice and some things to consider that I hadn't thought about. The dining area looked beautiful.

Bickford of Middletown would not be a good fit for my mother. The decor is old and I found it to be drab and dark. The director was very kind to me, but as we walked past residents and people sitting in the halls, she did not acknowledge them in any way. I spoke to them and said "Hello ladies." or "Good afternoon." to acknowledge someone's existence. That is important to me. Bickford of Middletown does not seem to be resident-focused. They also have strict dining times and appear to want the residents to abide by that.

My mom was at Bickford of Middletown for respite for a week. The place was very nice, she was in one of those efficiencies that had a kitchenette. The bed was in the area where you have your chair or a TV, they had a bathroom and a closet, and everything was very nice. They also had a microwave and refrigerator. But right now, the length of stay for respite is a minimum of 30 days. The staff was wonderful with her, she loved it there. They had activities and cooking, and they were very attentive, they still call from time to time. I didn't try the food, but everything was homemade and Mom really enjoyed it and liked it. They had a place where you could go and get your hair and nails done, they have bingo, arts and crafts, and happy hour. They had kind of a meet and greet thing where they could go and sit and have coffee and a pastry, and just chitchat. They had a library where you could borrow books and drop off books and stuff like that too.

My mother has been in Bickford of Middletown for a week now, and she likes it. It's the only facility that would take her with home dialysis. The staff members will bend over backward to help these people. They are on the ball. I've seen a guy who was sitting in a wheelchair and he had to go to the bathroom and he kept saying, "I got to go, I got to go," and the girl said, "Give me one second." Within that one second, she was going to the restroom with him. I would give them right now the highest marks. They've all been polite. They've all been right there when anybody needs anything. I recommend this place. Mom has a one-bedroom apartment. It's got a nice big living room and a little dining room. She's got a bedroom and a full bath. She's got two big windows, one in her bedroom and one in the living room. The sun comes in shining. Her room's clean. They clean the rooms once a week. They wash the sheets and change the sheets and they also do the towels. She's got a little kitchenette with a refrigerator, microwave, cabinets, and stuff like that. Where she's at is at the end of a corridor and it's nice and quiet back there. The common dining area was like a nice restaurant. All the tables are done up, and they have the menus out. My mom says the food is good. They're going to have a Super Bowl party this Sunday, and they also do crafts there. Once a week, they'll take them to Wal-Mart, Meijer's, or Kroger's if they need to run and get something. They also once a week take them out to eat at a restaurant. They take them to doctors' appointments, but it's an additional fee. This summer and spring, it's going to be very beautiful there. They have flowers and everything everywhere. They've got areas where they can go outside and sit on benches and rocking chairs and it's got pillows and blankets and birdfeeders. It's a very homey atmosphere. She's pretty much right now trying to get things going in her apartment. They've got a gym and a chapel. It's clean, and it's up-to-date. Everything looks good. It's a nice place, and it's right up the street from a hospital.

We toured Bickford of Middletown. It's nice if you have the money. It's a beautiful place. The rooms were just the right size for a couple that is in assisted living. The staff that talked to us and showed us around was wonderful. They have a lot of amenities, but some people like my sister are not into things like that. They have like an ice cream bar and a lot of places where they can congregate with their families and friends. They have a dining room where they give you a menu, and you can eat what you want. And if you don't like what they're having that day, you can choose something else. They just told us about their activities. They have arts and crafts and stuff that they could work on.

Bickford of Middletown was a comfortable facility. The staff was friendly and helpful in describing and understanding their services. They're highly professional. The rooms were nice. The dining area seemed very adequate and roomy. They had numerous activities. My dad liked it the best because it was the most casual and comfortable atmosphere. The outdoor spaces were simple, clean, and comfortable.

I went to The Bickford in Middletown. I like the atmosphere. It seemed a little more upbeat. I noticed the residents in assisted living seemed to be happy to be there and interacted with one another. On a tour they showed me different areas. You have a common area where you can sit and read, and then they have another common area where they have live music and pop popcorn. It looks like a social area. I also liked the size of the rooms, even the small room is still a nice size. The staff seemed really friendly. The staff was nice. She was informative, and she answered my questions.

My mother-in-law is moving into Bickford of Middletown next week. I liked all the green space. We enjoyed all the open places for people to get together and talk. The residents that my mother-in-law met were very friendly. The staff was wonderful. They had a craft room that was open all day long so that you could go in and do whatever you want, even if you didn't want to partake in a class. And it had great food. That was very important to my mother-in-law. The staff was wonderful, very friendly, answered all my questions, and made my mother-in-law feel totally at ease. It was nice. Even when we went to eat, residents came and sat with her and it was just very, very -- she said when she left that it felt like home, and to me, that's a huge compliment. She just couldn't wait to get there. They keep people out of memory care as long as possible. They don't rush people into memory care. You may qualify for memory care, but if you're not ready to do it, then they keep you out in assisted living, which is wonderful. It was a really good experience, plus the longevity of the staff was huge which says something.

I like the rooms at Bickford of Middletown. I like the way the place was laid out. It's homey, I like the location, it's kind of isolated, and it's more out in the country. If you like that kind of an atmosphere, it's very nice. A lot of people were sitting outside when I was there, and they seemed to enjoy that. The rooms were really clean, the place was clean, and the people were really nice. I like the atmosphere there really well. The only thing I saw was what was posted, and it looked like they had a lot of things going on, several things per day. It looks like there were lots of things for people to do if they choose to do those. I like the way the rooms were done. They all had kitchenettes, a microwave, and a little refrigerator. The rooms were laid out well, they're not huge, but they were laid out well, and quite usable. If they needed to go to doctors' appointments or go shopping or something like that, they could do that. The dining area had more like a fine dining atmosphere. It was a large area and they were all doing the social distancing thing. A lot of the chairs and stuff like that were removed simply because they didn't want everybody sitting together and they were doing things in shifts. It was a large area and it looked like really nice. The menu and choices looked good. I really like the place.

My mother-in-law is in Bickford of Middletown. The staff is fairly transient. They change quite often, so it's a fairly transient situation. The food is not all fast food. On special occasions like Christmas and things like that, without Covid, we're invited and we have partaken meals with them. There were also times you could go out and eat with your loved one. Upkeep is very good. They have an Alzheimer's wing and the rest of it is for just minimal assisted living. They have a room that is used for arts and crafts, and they have a chapel. They offer trips to the grocery store and trips to different places under normal circumstances. Their price is pretty much on par with the other assisted living homes, no more expensive, no less expensive, but all of them are expensive. I would give the nursing staff a 5 and for some of the staff for day-to-day things, it would be a 4. The food is sometimes pretty good, other times it leaves something to be desired. They have different cooks and the food goes as the cook goes. The facility is very good.

My grandmother is currently at Bickford of Middletown, and so far, the care has been OK. The staff was very kind and appeared to be genuinely caring. Administratively speaking, maybe they're a little bit disorganized, but overall it's been a good experience with the people. The meals have been very good, too. Sometimes they have a happy hour, and they have other activities where they get together, like a Super Bowl party or something like that. They have things on a weekly basis for them to do. It is difficult socially for them right now, but it seems like they're doing as much as they can for the residents.

I went to Bickford of Middletown. It's really clean, really up to date, and more like home. The people were great, they were eating when I was touring, they had choices of what they wanted to eat, so that was great, and they were getting ready to play bingo I think. I liked it.

I went to Bickford of Middletown, but they did not have an opening, and the price was higher. It was very comfortable, the residents were in places chatting, and it looked like a very friendly community. The staff was excellent, and very helpful. The layout was very accommodating to the residents. The rooms were very nice and set up well. We got to taste the food there, and everything was very nice in the dining area. The staff was very friendly and accommodating, and the residents seemed very happy.

We had to relocate our 94 year old aunt here from FL. She was at Bickford of Middletown for just under 7 months before her passing. All of the staff at Bickford is so amazing, caring & truly love their work & loved our lil Aunt. They would call us immediately if there was a medication change or for any issues whatsoever. We had peace of mind knowing she was truly cared for. If we could rate higher than the 5 stars we certainly would. They have been a true Godsend for our family. God bless them all!!

My sister was admitted and was there to get better and to regain her strength. However, this was not the case In fact, she declined after being placed there. After only 6 days she was removed by family and re-admitted to hospital due to UTI, pressure ulcers, and e-coli from her stay at this facility. Staff seemed to be nice but care was very minimal. Too many patients and not enough nurses. Only good thing I can say is that the rooms were clean. I would not recommend this facility for any reason.

Bickford of Middletown has been wonderful taking care of my mom. The place is very nice and kind of country style, and my mom is a farm lady, so that's nice. It's very clean, and I'm very satisfied with it. There's a little issue with the food, and the residents are not very happy. It seems to repeat itself a lot. The room size is nice, and they have a lot of things going on. It's a pretty building inside and out. They have lots of activities and plenty of things to do. The price is a little higher than others.

My mom was at Bickford of Middletown for about a month in a respite care room. The food was very good, and the place was extremely clean. The staff was eager to meet needs. The rooms were very clean, nicely decorated with windows, and met basic needs. It was good but very expensive.

Bickford of Middletown is very nice. They had activities and different areas, but it was a little less secure. They had walking paths, and it was more an open campus style so people could roam a little bit more. The only problem with them was they didn’t have an opening, and you would have to go on a waiting list. As far as the facility, I would have had no problems with it. It would have probably met my parents’ needs.

Bickford of Middletown was the best and most pleasant one of the three places visited. There were many activities going on, the residents seemed to be more engaged, and the staff seemed plentiful. I saw their menu while they were having lunch, and it looked like a very nice arrangement.

Bickford of Middletown is where my mother-in-law lives. The people are very friendly and the place is a good size; not too big, not too small. They have bands and bingo every day, games, exercise time, puzzle time, cards, get-togethers, and theme days, like farmer day and crazy hat day. They have a doctor that comes once a month and provide three meals a day; they encourage them to eat at the common area. One night we were there visiting and she didn’t show up at dinner, so they came to find out why. She’s very happy there.

Bickford of Middletown was a nice facility and a little newer than the other facilities I’ve seen. The structure was also better. If my parents need a higher level of care, they don’t need to go to another facility. They have a church area and a pastor who comes in. Their dining hall is like a restaurant where you can order what you want. They have a movie room, a library, exercise room, and music room.

The visit I had at Bickford of Middletown was very good. In fact, that was almost where I decided to stay. I like the presentation and atmosphere. It was very good. The dining room seemed fine, though I didn’t eat a meal there, but they did have pastries out for us when we got there. We had pastries and coffee while we talked initially. The rooms were very good, spacious, clean, and bright.

At Renaissance, it was all on one level. It was very pretty inside and spacious, safe and very clean, and the rooms seemed really nice. There was a community area, which was very pretty, and they were talking about a book that they had read. The staff were very helpful.

Inn At Renaissance Village was very good. I had a very difficult time deciding between this one and another facility because they were comparable. They basically had the same kind of focus, and so it was really difficult to decide between the two. The staff was helpful. They were very nice. I didn't have any problem with them.

We went for a tour at The Inn at Renaissance Village and the thing that stood out most about the facility is that the residents looked very happy and the staff interaction was really good. My mom likes it and she is moving in next week. The facility is also very clean. They got lots of things going on. Every time we visit there, the residents are all very busy.
