Valley Oaks Care Center is excellent. It's very clean and there was no smell when you walk in any time. The service is tremendous. My brother is being taken care of very well and we're just very pleased. They are always pleasant and very willing to help and do whatever needs to be done to make the residents feel comfortable. My brother is extremely picky though and he often does not get the food that he wants to eat. There are various activities, but he does not partake in them because he's not able to get out of bed, so he prefers not to go to anything. There are just various things that are not offered. They do not have a phone in the room and they have very limited television stations.

If I could do a 0 review I would. This place does not even deserve 1 star. We are talking neglect that resulted in death. My aunt was in there for rehab. She was supposed to only be there for a short amount of time then get discharged. My mom & her husband are her primary caregivers. My mom couldn’t go visit for a couple of days due to work, but every time she called they told her she is doing great, she is getting stronger day by day, she is doing physical therapy. My aunt was up, joking, laughing the last time they saw her days before. On Tuesday, October 16th at 11am, my mom called Valley Oaks and spoke to her nurse. My mom said “how is my sister doing?” The nurse said “she is doing really good today, she had breakfast, now she is getting ready to do physical therapy, she’s been up and moving” My mom said “Ok great that’s great to hear we will be up here in a few to visit her we don’t want to disturb her physical therapy”. My mom waited 2 hours, til 1pm to go visit her sister. She took a family friend and my aunt’s husband with her. They walked in to my aunt deceased. No nurses or aids anywhere to be found. Her call button was behind the bed (where it had been every time my mom came to visit her and she told the facility that she needed to have that close by, she was a fall risk she needed it to get help to the bathroom and everything), between her fingers was purple, behind her knees was purple, her AM meds were still sitting in a cup on her tray (it was 1pm). All that was on her tray was the meds not taken, her cell phone, and a cup of water. She should have had breakfast and then even lunch. My mom ran out of the room screaming, they were all three irate. My aunt’s husband got her button from behind the bed and pushed the alarm, no response. My mom went to the closest nurses station, no one to be found. She ran all the way down the hall to find a nurse screaming “my sister is dead I think!” And the nurse she encountered said “she can’t be dead ma’am we were just in there 15 minutes ago” (there is no way.) she casually walked past my mom and proceeded to walk down the hall to my aunt’s room as my aunt’s husband is screaming outside of her room to hurry up and help! She casually walks down and into my aunt’s room and starts to shake her saying “Miss come on you weren’t like this when we were just in here 15 minutes ago” my mom and my aunt’s husband are telling her she’s already gone, do something. She says “she isn’t gone, she’s still breathing” (she wasn’t). Finally more people come in they start doing compressions and make my mom, our family friend, and my aunt’s husband get out of the room. They call an ambulance, they take everyone outside. The administrator is asking if there is anything she can do, there isn’t because it is already too late, my aunt is gone due to their negligence. The ambulance leaves but before they do they turn their siren off. They take her to the local hospital and my mom and her husband get told to wait in the family waiting area, they know she is already gone at this point. The doctor comes in and says she had a heart attack. If she could have pressed her button, if someone would have been in there or around to check on her or to hear her struggle (it looked like she fought hard and struggled, her legs were up over the side of the bed), if they maybe even would have responded to my mom and her husband’s cries for help faster and not acted like they were exaggerating my spunky, funny, heart of gold aunt could still be here. If they didn’t neglect so many of their values that they state they follow my aunt could still be here. If they cared an ounce or maybe even if they thought “what if that was my family member laying there”, maybe then my aunt could still be here with the love of her life of 32 years instead of leaving him all alone. This is the ultimate form of neglect and we will do whatever we need to get justice for my poor beautiful aunt against this facility. My aunt died alone. Do not take your family members here please. It is devastating. We are all beyond heart broken.

I, Mr. Gardner, once was a resident of Nentwick Care Center of East Liverpool Ohio. August 2013-August 2014 battling cancer. The care and understanding I got from the staff was one of the greatest gifts I have ever received. So whom it may concern, I recommend Nentwick Care.
