We toured the Independence Village of Aurora Independent Living. It was very warm and inviting. We liked it. The room was perfect. It was a good-sized room. Everything was great. The staff was very friendly and very helpful. The dining area was nice. They had a theater and they had other activities for the seniors as well. They also have transportation for appointments and things of that nature.

Overall, Independence Village delivered an outstanding experience. My mother suffered a bad fall and subsequent injuries that forced us to find an assisted-living facility to move her into. We had to do it quickly and chose IV since it's minutes away from my home and we've heard great things about it. They took tremendous care of my mom, made her feel welcomed, offered flexibility and the staff was all remarkable. It was a great decision and my mom made amazing progress while there. I highly recommend Independence Village Aurora.

I had a very good tour of Independence Village of Aurora. I had a very good person showing me around and I liked it. They have a lot of things going on there with the residents and they have parties. The staff was excellent. I liked that one the best because it's right by me. I live in Aurora. Another thing is the guy is trying to work with me as far as me affording to live there.

My mom moved into Independence Village of Aurora. The food is great, and they have lots of activities. The interaction with the staff is very good. The saleslady was very helpful in getting us out of our other place and getting the hospital bed set up. The staff seems very engaged. They have a chef and a culinary staff. The people get to order their own meals. They have exercise classes, arts and crafts, and an onsite salon. The apartments are nice. The have a kitchenette, which is really unnecessary because they go to the dining room for meals. They have a refrigerator and a living room for when people come to visit. It has a nice-sized bedroom. My mom seems happy. If the people are reluctant to get engaged they do their best to help them get engaged. They'll come to my mom's room to take her to an exercise class if they know that she's interested.

My wife and I spent many days visiting potential homes for my elderly parents. Hands down, we picked the best. Six to eight months prior to their passing both my parents developed a number of needs. They both had significant memory and physical issues. However, Independence Village worked with us every day to allow both of them to be fully independent but with the services that they needed. My parents considered IV their home and the care givers and staff their family. We could not have been blessed with a more supportive facility.

My aunt began experiencing dementia symptoms at a relatively young age, so we wanted to find a place where she could maintain some independence but get the care she needs to be safe and healthy. She toured several facilities and chose Independence Village of Aurora. From the minute you walk in, it feels cozy and welcoming. Her apartment is clean, spacious, and beautiful. She frequently comments on how good the food is; I've tasted it ... she's right! One of the reasons my aunt chose this facility was the variety of activities. She's made crafts, enjoyed live music, done yoga, gone on local bus trips, and more! Just recently, she participated in Oktoberfest activities, with a giant spread of homemade German food/beverages & live music. So much fun! I like that there's a hair salon onsite, laundry facilities right down the hall, medical care that comes to your apartment (if desired), a shuttle to take her to local appointments, and a beautiful courtyard to enjoy nature and fresh air whenever you want. The staff is wonderful. My aunt can be a tough cookie sometimes, but the team does everything they can to make sure she gets the attention and care she needs. They keep in touch with me frequently, sharing if concerns arise and responding quickly if I have a question. Top notch, all around!

Our Mom has been here for over 8 years. She really enjoys the activities, meeting other residents and the staff. Her routine has changed over the years and they have always adapted to meet some unique needs. This was the best decision coming here it's worked out even better than we all hoped it would.

My Father was a resident of Independence Village of Aurora for nearly 6 years. The services provided to him during that time helped him to live a meaningful lifestyle. The food service was not-notch and always willing to adapt to my father’s meal needs. The apartments were well managed and the staff was outstanding. They were always friendly and willing to go the extra mile to ensure my fathers well being. Independence Village is highly recommended for senior living.

The staff was helpful, conscientious and accommodating to all my dad’s needs. They worked with us through some difficult issues. Commons areas were always well-maintained and staff was available at all hours of the day to help my dad with whatever he needed. Meals were very good and balanced as well. I highly recommend this facility.

We are beyond thrilled with Independence Village. Not only is the facility beautiful but the kind, attentive staff really make supporting your loved one their #1 priority. There is no shortage of fun activites (parties, outings, special events) and it seems there is something for everyone regardless of your personal interests. We feel so lucky to have our loved one here and in the care of Independence Village.

My father was a resident at Independence Village. The process of moving in and familiarization was handled very professionally and efficiently. The entire staff, from the Executive Director down to the handyman, were friendly, caring and responsive to the needs of my father and other members of my family. In particular, the facility was very flexible in terms of meeting my father’s care needs. The food was excellent and the facility was always sparkling. Having worked in healthcare myself, I was very familiar with the wide range of quality in various facilities; I would rate Independence Village near the very top.

The service level of the staff and leadership is excellent. When you walk in, it is such a pleasure to see the smiles on both the residents and the employees faces. It feels like walking into the lobby of a hotel! We have been beyond pleased with the facility, the activities, food, and genuine care from all. The courtyard is such an added amenity. Our family is always recognized and welcomed by the team every visit.

As soon as you walk in the front doors, you see a beautiful, clean building and a caring staff! My parents have been residents since December, 2021. Best decision we made! They have everything to keep the residents happy, busy and entertained! Delicious food in a beautiful dining room! 1 and 2 bedroom apartments which are perfect for the elderly!

Independence Village is the perfect place for my active and social parents. The apartments and facility are very clean, pleasant and have a homey atmosphere. The entire staff is consistenly helpful and friendly to residents and guests alike. They are accomodating to individual needs and regularly invite input from and provide information to the residents. The dining experience is more like a restaurant than a "facility" with food prepared on site by a chef. A variety of choices are available at each meal and frequent special food events are fun and amazing. Activities are also frequent, varied and engaging. The beautiful courtyard and indoor gathering places make socialization easily accessible. The location in Aurora is quaint and convenient to shopping and community amenities.

I thought the Independence Village of Aurora was beautiful. It was very well laid out, I love the activities that they offer, and I love that they fill the gap between the clients' needs so they don't have to go into assisted living. They provided assistance to keep them and their independent apartment arrangement as long as they could. We saw their independent living and the staff was very courteous, friendly, very nice, very helpful, and answered all of our questions. They had a library, a game room, an entertainment room where they play music, and an area where they do exercises with them. They had a breakfast bar area, and then, of course, the dining room. There are outside venues for movies and concerts during the summer too. For activities, they have a game room, a pool table, and movie nights.

The best part about Independence Village is the people. The staff and caregivers are top-notch and they really do care. My mother has been there for five years, starting on the independent side and then moving to the assisted side two years ago. They offer a wide range of services to accommodate her as she needs more help. The apartments aren't huge, but they're well-appointed and comfortable, and the food is very good. My mom isn't a real "joiner" but there are tons of activities and events planned every week, and they do a great job at the holidays, Mother's Day, etc. My mother has been very happy at IV and I would definitely recommend it!

The Staff and Directors have been very pleasant and helpful in all situations. Our relative has been treated very well. When we have needed to pick her up for an appointment; they have her ready in plenty of time. The rooms are kept clean, spacious and welcoming. Although she does not participate in most activities; I am notified of when they are being held. We are quickly notified of any changes in her health.

All of the staff at Independence Village has done a tremendous job at making this transition for my mom as efficient and emotionally successful as possible, especially when it was a quick decision after a medical emergency. The facility is immaculately clean and everybody is very kind. I am confident that mom is getting the best care and attention In portage county. There is an abundance of activities available daily.

My mother has been happy with her living situation at Independence Village. The staff are simply good people who are committed to the residents they serve. The community offers a range of activities such as: exercise sessions, mini seminars on health related topics, and special events revolving around a holiday (ie- July 4th. Cookout for residents in the court yard). My mother’s favorite activities are going to Sunday School and church services which are perfect for elderly folks.

We looked at several places for my dad and he felt very comfortable in choosing Independent Living at Independence Village of Aurora. He found both the staff and fellow residents to be very friendly and helpful. Our calls are always answered promptly and the building is always clean and neat. A meticulous courtyard with a walking path and patio is at the center of the facility and many of the units overlook this green space. There are many wonderful events for the residents to participate in throughout the year. Highly recommend that you walk in the door and see for yourself. Its well worth the time of a tour!

We looked at a number of facilities when considering a new home for Mom. The first thing that struck us about Independence Village was how staff immediately began calling Mom by her her first name and introduced other staff to her so they could use her name, too. And that was before we even signed on! The apartments are more than adequate. The staff are helpful and responsive to requests. In addition, they are amazingly gracious in the face of residents' criticism or complaints. At least in Mom's case, she was the one who forgot or didn't understand, yet, the staff kindly listened and worked to resolve the issue. In our case, Mom was willing to move. Even so, the first weeks we wondered if she would manage to adjust. It didn't seem to be working. The director encouraged us saying that it often takes 4-6 weeks for a new resident to settle in. Sure enough, Mom passed through that initial unsettled-ness and is a very happy camper now. I could go on! One more winning point. One day I picked Mom up early for a doctor's appointment. Staff noticed that she didn't come out for the continental breakfast which was her normal routine. They didn't see her at exercise class which she usually attends. And, late morning, the receptionist called Mom to see if she was OK! Wow! That really made my husband and I feel like Mom is in a place where people genuinely care about each resident and try to keep an eye out for each one. We heartily recommend Independence Village.

Initially, when my parent's moved to Ivil-Aurora, things were different. We were told of amenities that initially were provided, but as time went on things changed. Get in writing what you are told and what your expectations are. We were told, even on the "independent" side care would be available and provided. As my parent's needs changed this was not the case. The facility also changed and the "Wellness" program changed. It was a struggle to have the Aids provide what they were supposed to do, when they were supposed to. At one point the cost of my Dad's care package increased by 400%!!! That being said... The facility is nice and it used to be more of a family atmosphere. Corporate changes have changed the "feel" of the facility. The employees come and go, especially in the Wellness Dept. The dining has also declined. The facility is well maintained and the resident's do maintain a great sense of community. The resident's make this place work. We love that it is smaller than some of the new communities, but the "Corporate" mentality of employees is noticed. My parent's moved in Sep 2013 and have enjoyed the activities, community and I feel good with their overall wellbeing. Like all things, sometimes, bigger and more is not better.

Independence Village is newer, and the rooms are bigger, but it's very expensive. It was way too much money. The staff member was nice, described a little bit what was going own, but I didn't see a facility for rehab. The room was basically a studio layout with one bed, a walk-in closet, and shower.

My daughter was a resident at Independence Village of Aurora, but she passed two weeks ago. The place was beautiful. They had nicely appointed one-bedroom apartments with a spacious living room, kitchen, bedroom, and large bathroom. She was well taken care of. The nurses and all of the staff were very conscientious and caring people. The location was convenient, and the grounds were beautiful.

Independence Village was clean and very new. The people that we met with were very informative, but what impressed me the most was how the staff engaged with the residents. They had activities away from the site that they can participate in, plus social hours, bridge, and cards. They had ambulatory service available and their own bus. They served all meals. We had an overall great impression of it.

Independence Village of Aurora was OK, but expensive and it was not updated as we have seen like in other places. It was nice that everybody had their own apartments and there’s more space, but there was less interaction. It was more like an apartment building for old people. The staff was good and helpful. Their amenities were nice, but the main area needs updating.

I have visited this facility and find it very impressive. The staff are very friendly and caring. The facility is clean, fresh and inviting. Activities are ongoing all the time. My friend is so happy, all of her needs are taken care of, she has made friends and she just glows with health and contentment! That itself is a testimonial to how well this facility is run.

Independence Village of Aurora was more expensive, but the ambience was nice. There was outdoor parking. The rooms were of different sizes -- the bigger the room, more money it cost. The person in charge was very nice. They managed to show me all of the stuff, but after all I saw and looking at the prices, I decided I couldn't afford it. They serve three meals a day.

Independence Village was OK. It wasn't quite as homey, but it's a newer facility, and it was very nice and clean. I just met with the marketing lady, and she was very friendly and helpful. It seemed OK, but it just wasn't what I was looking for, for my aunt. The rooms were small, but nice. I was there for an hour, looked at a room, and talked to the lady, and it was definitely not what I wanted.

Moving my father out of my home where I cared for him was frighting. When we came in for a tour, we fell in love. During the tour staff members walked by and made a point to say hello. Every person we seen during the tour had a smile on their faces. It didn't stop there, my father and I decided this was the place for him. When he moved in, wach department welcomed him and explained their departments and what they would help him with. He has made several new friends. He always says how if he suggests something to the upper management they always take it into consideration and acts upon it. He has had great experience with all the staff. This was a great decision we made. He is so happy living there.
