I was a patient in rehab at Country Club Rehabilitation Campus at Ashtabula for three months. I like that they did a lot of activities for the family, where the family was included. And their therapy department was very good. The food was really good. You put your order in what you wanted. They would fix it in how we liked it. And the cafeteria was very nice. Everybody came down there if they were able. And the staff was always very friendly in there. I would say after that first night, everything turned out to be good. The nurses were very nice. The aides were also. So, I had a good experience there.

My brother is in Country Club Rehabilitation Campus at Ashtabula. He's in assisted living. He seems to be acclimating well there. The caretakers are professional and they're good from what I can see. The meals are pretty well balanced. There's fruit and vegetables in each meal. The lunch meal is a little bigger than the dinner. The place looks clean. There's physical therapy there. It looks like it's working pretty well. He has a smaller room and that's clean. They have apartment type rooms and then a smaller one for assisted living. There's some furniture in there like beds and cabinets and a good-sized bathroom. There's also a refrigerator in there. Everybody gets a medallion. You push the button if you need help and that seems to work. They come pretty quickly when you push the button. They have a television and individual heating and air-conditioning in each unit. There may be a couple of courtyards. There are several areas indoors, some sitting areas, and there are books, games, TVs, and stuff. There's another area where they have a pool table. They had a karaoke group, and they have religious services. The dining areas were a restaurant type of thing. You can get the daily special, which is a pretty balanced meal, or you could order something separate, like if you want to have pizza or something you can order that ahead of time and then it'll be ready for you. If you're able to get out of your room, you can find some places to go and relax if you wanted to.

The Country Club Rehabilitation Campus at Ashtabula has about four or five levels of people living there. I was quoted one price, and when I was there to talk to the guy who was showing me around, he quoted me a much higher price, so that didn't go down. They had a couple of dining rooms. That's a huge compound. The staff, his nationality was Russian, and his dialect sometimes is very difficult to understand or hear because he had a mask on too, and that muffled speech. He showed me a menu. They had a refrigerator, they had some stands on the long side of the bed, but that probably won't be there if I wish to go there, I do have to bring my own furniture.

Country Club Rehabilitation Campus at Ashtabula's general appearance was good, but it's an older facility. The lady who gave us the tour was not as friendly as the staff where my brother is now. The dining area was nice, but it didn't look like people were participating in it as much. There were only a few people in the dining room. The only room I saw was a studio apartment.

The staff here is exceptional, and are truly devoted to the residents wholeheartedly. They take the time to really get to know the residents, and who they are. and it shows...the residents reciprocate that love and caring. My mother in law was here, (along with several other members of my extended family, some of them several times for rehab) and said she genuinely felt like a family member, and was treated with dignity and respect. The kitchen staff goes out of their way to try to provide residents with whatever it is they want, even if it's not on the menu. The food is fantastic, and the menu offers them so many different choices. It felt like I was eating in a restaurant. The private rooms are so home like, and give the residents the privacy they desire when coming into this kind of community. It's certainly far from that usual "institutional" feeling you get from other places. We also loved the fact that mom got to keep the same routine she did at home, getting out of bed or going to bed when she wanted, taking a bath when she wanted, eating her meals when she wanted. Activities are out of this world, with outings to popular eating establishments, shopping trips, theaters....very resident centered. And the events they put on for their community and their families are over the top. This is a wonderful facility, and I would not hesitate to recommend Country Club.

This is just the food portion. I will write another rating on the medical. My friends mother has been in the facility for more than 3.5 weeks. When we decided on this place we were shown a nice menu that would help with her dietary requirements. Everyday she has been there the food from the menu has been non-existent. They are always out of every main entree food item offered!!. And this is the general consensus with the other people at the facility. For an example last nights food consisted a hotdog and fries. Hotdogs are the worst food ever for people trying to gain back their general health! In addition to not having ANY of the options on the menu the food is COLD!

Unfortunately, my mother lived her a few years. She was in a nicer facility previously, but tried to make a go of it on her own and it didn't work out & she was too embarassed to go back so she chose here. Nurse's aides are lazy, my mom's room was always dirty, on four different occasions they sent my Mom to ACMC because she was acting "strange". Of course she was sent right back because the hospital did not notice or find anything wrong. This facility is located right behind ACMC. Instead of calling me to take her, they called Community Care at a $150 after insurance. Now that she has moved, we are having problems with them still debiting her checking acct. even though she has not lived there for over 2 months now. Won't return your phone calls when you notify them that this has happened and now she has a $30 NSF charge and no money to pay the rent at the facility she is currently at. Very unprofessional.

My grandfather was a resident of this center. It was horrible. He was always dirty, and the people there were rude. I visited him once, and remember that he had the same socks on from the previous week. I asked the nurse why they had not changed his socks and she stated that since he was not active, there was no reason to. I asked them when the last time he took a bath was and they stated about a week ago. I asked why it was a whole week and they stated then that they give sponge baths, so he is clean. He is not active so no need to go overly with it. I was outraged. My grandfather was so miserable there, we moved him to a nicer, smaller place. I have told everyone of this. No one should be treated this way.
