Wheatland Terrace was our worst tour. The staff was new to her role and couldn't answer our questions and was just not very personable. She didn't have much to offer. She didn't sell the place to us. She just kind of walked around. She sat us down with the chaplain and wanted us to have a meeting with the chaplain, and we thought that was a little awkward and weird, not knowing anything about us. When you're there to tour the place, it was kind of an uncomfortable setting. I suggest updating the rooms like the appliances were dated looking. The facility in general, like the carpet and everything, just kind of looked old. They also had a preschool attached to the unit. Maybe some people would appreciate it, but the view of the unit that they showed us just looked down onto the preschool playground area and that's all you could see. It was like the back of the building. The staff was not knowledgeable. We played phone tag probably about four or five different times just to try to get the tour scheduled in the first place. Once we showed up, we had to wait in the lobby for about 10 minutes for the person to come and greet us and then there was no wheelchair or anything offered to help navigate. They didn't have much. They had one little activity room where you could do puzzles and games and stuff. The staff wasn't very knowledgeable about selling the place and highlighting the good points. She just showed us one little activity room where they had programs and guest speakers would come and give a presentation and stuff, but it had just chairs around. It kind of reminded me of a hotel business room or a convention room.

My parents are at Wheatland Terrace now. It is really the only one that makes sense for us. It seems like it has about everything that we were looking for. They have different rooms of different sizes. My folks are currently in one that is a respite care and temporarily they’re on a waiting list for a two-bedroom. I’ve seen the floorplans, and they seem fine. I didn’t try the food, but they have a nice dining set-up. They have recently switched vendors, so there had been a little learning curve, but I think they are back on board. They try to tailor meals to certain people’s needs. Food seems to be healthy and comes in a good selection. They always have activities, and people can do them or not. There are church services on Sunday and a lot of performers coming in and doing things. They try to do seasonal little parties and recognize people on birthdays. There are plenty of things to do there. They have a good recreation activity room with a couple of areas with a big-screen TV, pool table, craft tables, and workout equipment.
