I'm back at Salem Terrace of Winston Salem. I love the staff. The staff is excellent. The food is good. There have been several activities, but right now, there are none because our activity director retired just a few days ago. They played various games such as bingo and things of that nature. Sometimes, especially on Sundays, they would have a church group come by. This past summer, they had a little garden. We have a patio and that's the only smoking location at this facility. Two or three times a month, they go to the residents and ask if they need anything, like food, clothes, or cigarettes, and the activity director would go shopping for those people. The staff seem to really, genuinely care for the residents here and they're also very nice. They don't berate any of the residents for misbehavior, at least not in public. The physical appearance has greatly improved in my time here. They have done a lot of painting and just a lot of interior work. The facility itself is well maintained. The cleaning crew is in your room every day to take care of whatever needs to be taken care of. Value for money is ideal. Almost every resident here is covered by Medicaid. I am private pay, so I have a private room and a private bathroom. I'm living probably as comfortably as I can with current my medical problems.

Very Blessed to have such a loving and caring STAFF that truely put the Resident’s First by knowing each one of them and truely loving them. This is just not a job they do. It takes Special Individuals to do this kind of work and each and everyone of them take this to HEART when it comes to their residents the Staff just don’t look at these individuals as residents they are Family. .

I had a brother that had some head trauma and I got him situated in a memory care unit at Salem Terrace of Winston Salem. A lot of places have a minimum age and he didn't qualify for most places, but they accepted him at 45-years-old. I'm happy with it. The staff does a pretty good job. It's a good fit for him and he seems to be happy with it. He's only been there for a short period of time. They have a salon and a family room where they can watch TV and that's supposedly where they do their activities. The rooms are shared rooms. There are two beds to a room, and each person has their own little closet. They have a bathroom that's shared between two rooms, and they have to go to a separate area for showering. It is an assisted living unit, so pretty much the people in there can physically take care of themselves. They have to be encouraged to do things. He's in the assisted living memory care unit. The food looks good. I haven't eaten there, but he said he likes it. The portions are average. It seems a little older facility and it's a pretty good size. It's probably one of the bigger memory care units that I've been in. They have plenty of room to walk and wander around. It's working out well.

Do not place your loved one in this facility!! When we first placed our loved one here, it was a nice place. The last 3-4 years our loved one was here, it was HORRIBLE! The Administrative staff are about as cold hearted as they come. There is a constant turnover of staff going from bad to worse. Never clean. The dining room area is way too crowded and a terrible environment to dine. Very LOUD facility. Our loved one became very ill. They did not send our loved one to the hospital, I had to go and take them myself. Our loved one died a week later. There is no love or compassion in this facility. Stay away!!

This place isn't fit for a dog. Management is terrible and so is staff. Patients sit around soiled and begging for help/assistance and workers just pass them by. I don't see how they're still open with a 0 star rating.

This moderately-sized assisted living facility did have the look of a nice "down home" one and the feel of one when you walk through its doors. The parking lot was of a nice size and the courtyard and front looked pretty well put together. As you walk inside you will notice the receptionist desk as soon as you walk in. I walked in and asked for some information on the different plans and prices and such. They handed me some paperwork and a little card to fill out. The receptionist was very pleasant and well-informed of the "goings on" in the community. I got a tour guide and we took a very brisk walkthrough the grounds which included seeing amenities like a game room and barber shop. I was really pleased on how things flowed more than anything else.
